I think my favorite part of this video series is how you show off the beautiful artwork that they games have and included items with these collectors edition versions that you have. Side note, a video series on game developers that are no longer around. Kind of a history of what great games they made and what happened to them since.
David, thank you so much for showing this and I am glad I collected these games when they were cheap. Jeanne D’Arc was one of my favorite PSP games and one of the first I beat for the system. Fantastic collection!
Love these videos. I always enjoy seeing what others have in their collections. Some I own as well others I don't and gives me a reason to do some homework to see if they are worth the purchase.
Tales of Heart R is a GameStop Exclusive if my memory serves me correctly. It was sorta easy to get initially, but became very difficult to find new many months after launch.
Great job putting these together David. Don't know if you have a Saturn and done RPGs for that. Most are pretty pricey now. You're looking pretty buff. You should play Omniman if they make a live action Invincible film. Lol. I also have Summon Night 5,and 6 in the huge box,and I agree that they aren't amazing or anything but they are pretty good strategy games. What's cool is that the special box version came with the digital code as well do you never had to open the game at all. I didn't even know that poster was in there. And yes,Gajinworks is doing Class Of Heroes 3. One more PSP game that shot up in price was Phantasy Star Portable 2. It's actually quite a good game but for some weird reason, never explained,Sega took it off all stores. I would love to play it on my Vita but now you can't. Sega is pretty strange. Like they are ashamed of some of their games or something. Keep up the good work.
Ys Seven wasn't just my first Ys game, but it was the Ys game I ever heard of period. I got it because of all of the great reviews and fell in love immediatly! Nowaday, Ys is one of my favourite series ever, to the point that I bought Ys VIII for both the PSV and PS4
Thanks for sharing these collection items! I have just a Vita, but have a lot of digital PSP games on it. have digital copies of Jeanne D’Arc, Tales of Hearts, Hexyz Force. The only physical game I have is Persona 4, I definitely remember getting it for $20 at Gamestop. I have been considering to pick up some of the other games digitally from your recommendation but no longer in a rush with the PS Vita store remaining open. I have never regretted getting a Vita since I got it
That's a great video. Just found your channel and I have to say that you have an amazing collection and a nice way to show things. I started collecting PSP games last year, but I still haven't managed to geat my hands on a copy of Trails in The Sky. It seems nobody has one of these here in Brazil, lol.
Good video. There are some Vita games that did come with a instruction manuals, like Summon Night 6. It was really up to the publishers to provide instruction manuals, Sony just provide the cases.
I played so many different RPGs on PSP emulator from FF, KH, Trails, Ys, and Persona. I often wondered if I should have gotten a handheld for convenient gaming but I'm glad I got to experience some great games on the PSP regardless. I don't play games on emulator anymore these days.
Fantastic collection of games, so many must plays and some really nice collector's editions. Thanks for sharing, it's really interesting looking at your collections for the various systems. ❤️
Nice Selection and aggravating regrets as always. Did you buy Tactics ogre used? In Europe we got a Collectors Edition with artbook, ost and those Tarots I believe.
those tactics ogre cards ara AMAZING! I'm not sure why i don't have them. I actually bought the premium edition with sould track and an artbook ( and a 50% discount code for Vagrant Story ) but no class cards....now i really want them
My favorite PSP game I own is one I had to import from Japan, because they never localized it to the west. La Pucelle: Ragnarok. Its a remake of one of the most underrated PS2 rpgs ever, La Pucelle Tactics. That game is basically a prequel to the original Disgaea, and imo its much better than Disgaea. Check this game out on the PS2 David, if you dont like playing games in japanese (understandable), because you can pick it up CIB for like $10-30. Definitely a steal.
The great thing for those that missed out is that almost all the games on both systems can be had on other platforms (mainly ps2,ps3 and pc for psp and ps3,ps4, switch and PC for the vita) as well as psp emulation is on every platform and has extremely low spec requirements
Level-5 didn't go anywhere, they just wound up making too much money. They created the Yo-Kai Watch franchise in 2013 and I think it's still one of the 100 most profitable media franchises *of all-time*, somewhere right around the dollar amount of Madden or G.I. Joe. They were raking in the bucks for a few years with games, toys and movies until Pokemon got its mojo back and Yo-Kai's profits fell off a cliff. They had to put the Layton franchise on ice after Layton's Mystery Journey (woof), but they've still got Ni No Kuni, and I would imagine Inazuma Eleven makes them money everywhere but the states. They crank out a lot of hybridized game-and-anime projects that don't really take stateside. Quite frankly I don't think they need the US revenue enough to worry about franchises like Layton or Guild or Dark Cloud.
Damn! Those are some crazy titles and some of them are worth much more than pricecharting has listed. Ys Seven is a good example. I've been trying to buy that game for months, but cib copies are over $100. By the way, I put out a video today that was inspired by your recent vids like these... My rarest/spendiest game for every console I collect for. I may go through and do each individual console as well, but either way, this was a great series!!! Jelly of a ton of those games!
It's wild to me how much PSP and especially Vita have ballooned wildly in price over the last two or three years. Fortunately, a lot of these are available digitally, if particular note is Wild ARMs xf, which is only $9.99 on PSN! If I recall correctly, I do have a few Vita games that have manuals, but I'll have to go back and look. I know at least a few Limited Run titles did. And as for Level 5, don't worry, they're not defunct! They just shut down their western publishing branch, but the Japanese team is still working on games. In fact, they're apparently working on porting Ni No Kuni II to Switch!
The thing wit Level-5 for what I have heard is that they have lost a lot of money on the low sales on Ni No Kuni II that was an expensive game to make but it was released just a few weeks after Monster Hunter World , and as we Know MHW was a huge worldwide success and everyone was talking about it, meanwhile Ni No Kuni II was left forgotten getting dust at the shelves, the other reason that affected Level-5 is that the popularity of the Yo-Kai series was going down fast after Pokemon Go was a huge hit and the "Pokemon fever" returned strong meanwhile the Yo-Kai series was left behind wit poor sales
David where have you been getting frames for your gaming posters and such? I have a couple I want to frame but wasnt sure if there was an easy answer for framing these. Also, great video, Trails in the Sky premium Edition and LOH3 are skyrocketing on ebay as we speak. LOH3 I need to help complete my North American Legend of Heroes games on the PSP and I'm hating what I may have to pay to do that. Thats a very nice group of games, cant believe Persona 4 Golden goes for that much now!
I really regret not picking up the legend of heroes trails in the sky for the psp - saw an used copy on an auction/trade site here in sweden for 70 dollar (your currency) and thought about buying it the next day since it was late and I had my creditcard downstairs, next morning it was already sold. easily one of the best games ever made- yes I put it in the same league as world of warcraft, baldurs gate 2, persona 5, witcher 3 and super mario world. im 9 games into the serie (yes did the fan translate of crossbell) and cant stop playing it- Estelle is timeless!
Level 5 isn't defunct. they just abandoned their western arm. See around 2018 they wanted to expand in the west by publishing their games themselves. (They've always had deals with other publishers for this before). but just didn't have the resources or the western rights to their back catalogue to make that work. So, yes they are still kicking, they just went back to letting Nintendo, atlus, bamco, ect distribute their games internationally, like they always did.
I don't know if it is expensive or not these days, but you can import Breath of Fire 3 for the PSP and it is totally worth it regardless of monetary value.
And i too am a huge ys fan, i just finished my ys 1 playthrough. You have good tast for rpg but i dont know how you feel about sega rpg lol, i think your more the nintendo guy
Jeanne D’arc price has been out of date for liek 3/4 weeks. Good luck trying to find it for those prices I’ve been trying on eBay, Amazon, OfferUp, Mercari, and fb. Completes are above 100$ at the moment.
Boo GameStop. The issue with a game not coming with a case happens far too often and there is no way of knowing till you arrive at the store :/. Anything Y’s is awesome. I have the Tales, after Y’s Origin I’ll try it out.
If you want to have a real idea of how well PSP games are actually doing right now go to eBay Hexyz Force is at from $350 to $450 complete, and two weeks ago you wouldn't find any copy for less than $400, the pop prices are skyroaketing :)
I got P4G recently for 80...😢 And it's true... Nothing but cartridge. It's definitely fun but I wish I hadn't had to pay that much. I can't find tales R though.
Level-5 isn't defunct...they have a few games in development right now...not sure if any are JRPGs though. all I have physical for PSP ( which I don't have the actual system for...I just used my sister's, which no longer works properly sadly ) & Vita are Persona 4 Golden ( just the game card...I bought my 1st Vita off a friend & he threw in Persona 4 Golden and his memory card all for $50...sadly the Vita didn't work but I bought a functioning one off eBay last month ), Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days and I imported the PSP port of Tales of Eternia from the UK. I have Tales of Hearts R digitally as well as Muramasa Rebirth, Adventures of Mana and The Third Birthday....I have 1 other physical Vita game but it's not a JRPG, it's Touch My Katamari :P
