We have very similar tastes in those top 3! The biggest thing that got me into cards was the allure of having a more luxurious standard deck. I started collecting this year (Feb) and the first deck I owned was the artisan gold black. From that point, I slowly and meticulously built onto the collection from there. Top 3: 1. 52 plus joker 2021 Club Deck (Amazing tuck, foil on courts, gold foil on pips, the design on the back is incredible, and overall an undeniably excellent deck of cards. I keep the deck on my desk and open it at least once a day since I've gotten it. It's beautiful and a complete package. Not enough positive words for this one! ) 2. Royales: Limited Private Reserve (This deck NEEDED gold foil on the backs to really elevate it and this version did it! Really wish the courts were gold foil but luckily the metallic ink used is very shiny! Basically THE casino style deck that fits the luxury theme PERFECTLY with all the cool subtle design hints and custom pips / numbers. Really love it when designers take extra care on the standard numbered cards. Can't imagine a better actually "playing" deck than these and learned my lesson that I shouldn't have played with my red gilded version. The gilding rubbed off super quick. Rookie mistake ;) 3. EoTO: Astra polaris (To me, this is the best version of all the decks in the series. The beautiful tuck fits the theme so creatively, it's genius! Gold foil backs with that cool gilding pattern on it. I've always loved when designers pay attention to the standard cards and this deck is no slouch. The courts are extra dope and the details on numbered cards with custom numbers and pips. I know people like the intepred and quartermaster more due to them being more rare but I feel this deck just nails the theme the best out of them all!) Long post and it seems that everyone has pretty similar taste! I haven't been in the hobby for long but I'm very happy to own all the decks above! 2021 was a great year for cards, just wish I got in this hobby a little sooner before all the prices unnecessarily exploded. It's gonna take me forever to find a room17 for a decent price!! Someone help me out please ;)
I am brand new to this and I am blown away. I bought a bicycle cypher deck about a month ago in a local pharmacy and about a week ago bought a bee deck used in a golden nugget casino at another store. I had no idea how expansive this world is. I plan to start having poker nights and this kind of was an offshoot of that. Now im hooked and just started a pip box club sub lol. I like that you can get dups so you can keep one sealed. Im excited😄
One critique for this year's top 10 that I have, most of the decks featured in this top 10, their reviews can not be found on the channel. Though a great review as always. My top 3 would be the tempest without a shadow of doubt, the avengers deck and the eye of the ocean deck
This was a great list! Some of these I didn’t even know about. I started collecting just a couple months ago, so I don’t know what came out last year and what didn’t. But I can give you a top 3 of the decks I own so far: 1. High Victorians (green) 2. Bicycle Architectural Wonders of the World 3. Peelers v4 (was surprised how much I liked these since the tuck box was kinda boring. The blue metallic ink on the cards looks so nice!)
Nice choices! Art of Play’s Tempo deck, designed by Michael Mateyko, deserves some love. Entirely custom artwork is a kinetic riff on the theme, suits are matched to instrument sections, the jokers are crooners - it’s a really fun and playable deck.
Definitely solid top 10! I would say my top 3 is formed by: 3: Black Market 2: Tale of the Tempest 1: Eye of the Ocean, since the campaign is from 2021
Fantastic list, and thank you for being open about leaving your deck out. Not because they aren’t awesome, as I have treasured edition myself, but because that way you kept your list objective like it was before! For my Top 3 for 2021 has to be: 1. 52+J 2. Royales 3. JT’s Wayfarers Because that last deck was the one that completely dragged me in into collecting decks. I stumbled upon that deck and I knew I had to have it and THAT initiated the madness. I’ll have to give honorable mention to AoP’s Tempo. The art and fun details on that deck are just awesome 🎷🎺🤵🏻♂️
Just discovered your channel as I also just started collecting playing cards. Your videos are not making this easy. Ive ordered more packs of cards this week than I intended too lol. Some of these decks are not cheap.
Pretty solid top 10! My top 3 would be: 1 - Royales Players Gilded 2 - Vengeance Of Witches - Hagazussa 3 - The Tale Of The Tempest - The Great Wylenti :P
What a good choice for your top 3, I will have to go with 1. Time machine playing cards (from kickstarter) 2. Harry potter playing cards 3. iron man playing cards (from card mafia)
Well, actually for Lorenzo's Patrons, he did release the Eye of the Ocean Quartermaster deck in 2021. So...maybe it could count? I just received my Eye of the Ocean rewards a few days ago and have been feasting on them ever since.
My top 3 for 2021 would be 1) Ten Hundred - Vivid Kingdom (have not yet release yet but will be soon) 2) Stockholm17 - The Eye of the Ocean The Intrepid 3) King Star - Hymns of the Hero King
Amazing too 10. I wish I knew about some of the cards you mentioned. No that I do I’m going to have to look for them. My top three for 2021 has to be your #1 blue “Tale of the Tempest” #2 Chris Rameys gilded and none gilded 1st playing cards. #3 the DB, Blue metallic gatorbacks
my 3 favourite Decks are on place 3: Somnium playing cards prestige edition place 2: Daniel Madison Flourish Deck and on place 1: the 2021 Butterfly playingcards spring edition
Absolutely love the harry potter decks that ace well deserved ace of the year :) my top 3 gonna be seasons butterflies tale of the tempest and visions :)
I’m not up on which decks I have that were released last year but I have the kings wild project table players blue ribbon decks, and a Jerry’s nugget vintage feel deck. I like playing card games with my family and these two decks feel great for games based on the thickness and slickness, I be also got a Pegasus deck by penguin magic I love the flexibility of those the way shuffle is so satisfying. I’ve also been stocking up on blue seal/ red seal casino quality decks.
Great top 10. I agree with almost all of them. My personal top 3 of last year is very similar to yours just different order. 1. 52+ Club Deck 2. Royals 3. Harry Potter Number 4 is The Green Man by Jocu Looking forward to your new Kickstarter.
Gotta say the 52+J deck was one of my favorites as well. With that I think the other two are the butterfly season series, and then the Moresque from Oath.
My favorite deck of 2021 made your top ten list. My 2021 Deck of the Year was an easy choice for me - Alice in Wonderland by KWP. I may be a bit biased, but it was even more special as I watched him draw many of the cards and saw first hand the passion and insane detail that went into those cards. The videos are posted on RU-vid - Kings Wild Live. I am glad Lee's Royale also made your list. It is nice to see so many decks that are not exceedingly rare and difficult to obtain. Great decks don't have to be rare and expensive. I may have to break down and get a set of T11's Harry Potter decks. Great choice for artist of the year.
Amazing top ten choices, always great to watch your videos. I’ll always go to your top tens to find my next favorite deck. Now as for my top 3 i really don’t know since i didn’t get much decks in 2021, and tbh I’m not even sure if I got any decks from 2021, cause I’m a fairly new collector, so the decks I get aren’t the latest ones, just ones I find beautifully elegant or unique, but from what I see in pictures and reviews, I think no.1 would be the 52 + Joker, then no.2 the Eye of the Ocean and 3, Alice In Wonderland (Really love Stolkholm17 and KWP
Great video and solid list! My top 3 include: Visions deck by Wounded Corner; Cartomancer by Alain Benoit; and Harry Potter by T11. Keep up the solid reviews and best of luck on your upcoming campaign!! Can't wait!!
Gave the Harry Potter set as a gift to my Potterhead son and daughter in law. Gorgeously done set! I am a huge Alice in Wonderland fan. Absolutely love this deck. My number three is Onda. Love the theme and the illustrations. Really looking forward to the Successor deck!
Spot on list! Gotta agree with the Harry Potter decks. Really beautifully done. 2nd would be 52+Jokers deck, very well put and striking. My 3rd would be the Avengers deck. I just love the shiny purple color :)
3. TotT Wylenti Edition 2. Sins Infernal Anima EX 1. Royales Private Reserve Lorenzo's 52J would be on the list if I were able to get my hands on one, but I'm not yet a member.
I think I’d have to go with David Blaine metallic green gator backs, Dan & Dave S&M blue LE tuck, and the Tale of the tempest midnight LE love the gold foil on black it’s beautiful. Can’t say the Prizm yet as I’m still trying to track one down.
My top 3 decks for 2021 as follows: 1. 52+Joker Club Deck by Stockholm17 2. Tale of the Tempest Dynastinae Edition by TGW/Lotrek 3. Black Market by TWI These three decks are there in my top 3 because I believe they are innovative in their art/technic/storytelling and will be influential to future decks designs.
My top 3 Favorite decks of 2021 was Hello Tiki V3 white by Montenzi Design, 52+J by S17, and The Tale of the Tempest TGW edition(Dynastinae being basically tied for 1st) more of a top 4 list but wanted to shed light on Montenzi Designs amazing work.
It's hard to limit to just 3, but I think I'd pick Alice in Wonderland by Jackson Robinson, A Newfoundland deck of cards by Graham Blair, and Moresque by Lotrek.
I have no idea how people even know about these decks! I am not able to keep up. I don't really know what my top 3 are because I forgot what cards even came out last year. Everything just blends together.... But still, pick me!!!
Hi Miloslav. I know we spoke via PM, but for anyone else wondering… the successor will be up for pre-order very soon-there will be a pre-order button active on the main Kickstarter campaign page and through TheGentlemanWake.com as well. Thanks!
