Such an excellent list. I just read Jane Eyre in January, and I completely love it! I'm just starting to get to know the Bronte sisters, and still have Wuthering Heights on my list and now I'm getting super excited about reading it.

The way you said “Sir!” When you addressed the cat, cracked me up 😂 You’ve really made me more interested to read Hard Times - a well paced, tight Dickens novel?! Sign me up. And I really need to read more Wilkie Collins.

I say that to both cats constantly. They're so naughty (but also cute and fluffy, so it's fine). And I know! I couldn't believe it when I was assigned it in undergrad. It's the book that made me start to like Dickens. My prior experiences had been Oliver Twist and A Tale of Two Cities, neither of which went well.

Such a wonderful list! I really need to read Moths, clearly :) And I totally agree with you on Wuthering Heights.

Moths is so good! I'll be interested to hear your thoughts if you do pick it up. I just watched your video on Wuthering Heights and completely agreed with everything you said.

You made me buy The Moth. When you read a part of it in one of your videos, I just had to have it. It's huge! I was a scorer for testing for student essays. They had to write an essay on the scene where Jane meets Mr Rodchester in the woods. One of the oldest miniseries of maybe the seventies was used. Jane narrated it. I loved it and as I scored the essays, those kids did a good job. I want that video but I can't seem to find it anywhere. It may cost a lot, but I loved that particular adaptation of Jane Eyre. My favorite Victorian novel is Wives and Daughters and Cranford and I do like North and South. I like Under the Greenwood Tree too. You can tell, I like happy endings.

I found The Tenant of Wildfell Hall very readable but also annoying because the wife returns to nurse her husband at the expense of her health.....she has,afterall,her son who she adores.

Wilkie Collins is quite often left out and I cannot understand why. Good idea to start with The Woman in White followed with The Moonstone.....the rest is up for grabs !

@patsmith, My first Wilkie Collins was TWiW and I loved it, in is in my top five favourite novels . My second WIllie was a great disappointment : Poor Miss Finch; I followed that with the Moonstone, liked it a lot but never as much as TWiW. I have ten more Wilkie Collins books to read ! Glad you loved it. Kind regards.

@@elizabethaliteraryprincess I've only read The Channings and really liked it. It was good to discover another Victorian classic author as I've read a lot of them over the years. Just started a Wilkie Collins to see the contrast.

Mrs Oliphant's book A Beleaguered City was memorable and good, might of been a bit strange.

@@davidrichards9654 A Beleaguered City is on my list of ones to read from Oliphant. It's been talked about in a few of the critical works I've read on her. I'll need to be in the right mood for it though; it sounds rather dark.

You didn't explain what you hated about the ending of The Mill on the Floss. Very rude
@elizabethaliteraryprincess
@elizabethaliteraryprincess 6 месяцев назад
I didn't explain it because I don't want to give away the ending for people who haven't read it. Lots of people don't appreciate spoilers. I can't tell if you're joking or being serious with the "very rude" comment.

@@davidthom7127 The absolute irony of you calling me rude while being rude in my comment section. You're quite welcome to not watch my videos if you don't like how I choose to talk about books.

I detest Wuthering Heights, but that is the beauty of subjectivity in reading tastes.🙂
