My Top 17 Best Beaches and Snorkeling in the Exumas, Bahamas (By Land, By Boat, and By Excursion)

We put this video together so if you're planning a trip to the Exumas, you know which beaches and snorkeling spots to go to and how to access them. We start out with the beaches on Great Exuma Island that you can drive to. Then we head to Little Exuma Island to the beaches you can drive to. From there, we rented a boat and we'll show you the islands to visit by boat. Lastly, we went on an excursion that was farther way to visit Pig Beach and other far away beaches in the Exumas. There are multiple beaches for #17 as we booked an excursion through Exuma Water Sports (exumawatersports.com/tours-ra...) to go explore up by Staniel Cay on the north end of the exumas. I lumped all of these together as you would need to go on the excursion to access them. They are too far away for a normal boat rental.

You showed most of my favorites...I've been going to Exuma at least once a year since 1984...it is my peaceful place! Don't tell too many people about it! Getting too crowded!!😍💙💙The first time I went in 1984, most of those beaches were empty and my brother and sister in law started going in the mid 1970's....pretty low level of visitors, but they had all those great beaches to themselves.

Would it be better to stay at stocking island or hideaways? I'm stuck and don't know if I wanna be on an stocking or just stay at hideaways and ferry in 1 day. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Amazing video. Incredible job with the drone. It changes everything when you see that kind of beauty from up above. Loved every beach. We just came back from Aruba and planning for Exuma in July. Stocking island part was insane. For the boat rental, any idea how much would be to hire someone to navigates those waters and go to Stocking Island? A kayak is the most I have done as far as riding in waters. Once again, amazing job.

Thanks so much. I haven't been to Aruba yet, but it looks amazing. As far as renting a boat and guide to stocking island, I don't know how much that would cost. We rented our boat from Minn's Water Sports and it was my first time driving a boat. It was really easy. They do have a page on their website that recommends people for charters and guides. Thank you. I've been piecing my snorkeling gear together over the years. I originally just bought a cheap set. Then I replaced my mask with an OceanWays Dive Mask. Here's a review I did on it. www.amazon.com/vdp/05d4895d5c2f4be6b552313522f2e71d?ref_=aipsfvideo_aipsfjordanoutside&linkCode=ssc&tag=tifraru-20 They don't sell my fins anymore, but the equivalent of what I use is the Oceanic Viper 2 fins: www.amazon.com/OCEANIC-Suitable-Snorkeling-Lightweight-Comfortable/dp/B096PWNZW6/?th=1. I still use my old snorkel from my original set and that works fine. Hope that helps.

Great video. You hit most of the beaches. Others to check out are the northern side of Stocking Island (the whole thing), and the beaches around Man-O-War, which are only accessible by kayak because of the shallowness.

I was actually looking at google earth and identifying some of the beaches you have explored to see if they are worth visiting and your video is so helpful that it makes it easy to see which ones we should visit. Ask your rental as well. We always rent a cottage that comes with a 4wheel drive and a boat, right on the beach down in Rolleville in front of the sandbar around Man-O-War Cay.

What time of the year did you do this trip? Here now and have been to many of these beaches but the water is definitely not this calm as in your video. Definitely looking to visit again but wanting nice calm water to do more snorkeling

Hey Joyce, we were there in June. We had some crazy rain and flooding, but when it wasn't raining it was clear out and the water was calm.

We are going in May - this is a great resource. Are roads marked for turn offs to beaches? I'm assuming the rental we are in will provide a map. So excited for exploring all these amazing areas of the island

Hi Cathy, I'm so excited for you. You're going to love it. Some of the roads have signs for the beach and others don't. We used Google Maps on our phones and it took us to each beach with no problems. We have AT&T in the US and we activated the international plan while we where there. Our rental car did not provide a map. Hope that helps 😃

We wanted to hit the cut/lazy river beach, but Minn's Water Sports doesn't allow you to go that far. Man-o-war Cay is the farthest they let you go. We also ran out of time to fit it in. We are definitely going to do that on our next trip there. It looks so fun!

Great question. I've never stayed at Francis Marina Resort on Stocking Island. I bet it is amazing. We stayed on Great Exuma so we could have a rental car to hit lots of beaches on Great Exuma and Little Exuma. We rented a boat for 2 days and were able to explore Stocking Island and the surrounding islands and sandbars. It all depends on how much exploring you want to do.

Thanks Jay, We loved snorkeling at Hoopers Bay Beach because of the turtles. We also loved snorkeling at Exuma Point Beach because of the nurse sharks and star fish. The third snorkeling spot would be Thunderball Grotto. Hope that helps 😃

How much was the boat tour to stocking island beaches and the sandbars?

We rented a boat from Minn's Watersports. We rented a 17 foot boston whaler. It cost us $237 plus a $200 dollar deposit, which is used for extra gas. We ended up getting $150 back, so it cost us $287. We spent 9 days in the Exumas. That was perfect for us. It allowed us to explore all these beaches and go back to our favorites. We went in June and they had a lot of rain. The nice part is that after it would rain, it would clear up like the footage you're seeing. Hope that helps 😃

No, the rental boat is only for the Stocking Island area. Staniel Cay is too far.

We were there in June and we had crazy rain with flooded streets, but we rented a Jeep and were still able to get around. It would rain for 4 or 5 hours and then it would be clear again. The locals said that was the most rain they had in a long time. The said it's normal to have rain in June, but not that much.

@@jessicakilburn Hey Jessica, we really second guessed if the cost was worth it. After going, it was definitely a highlight of our trip. For us it was worth it and we highly recommend it. I don't get anything for recommending this excursion, we just really liked it. If you can afford it, it is worth it.
