Practice! Get as many laps in before a race like a daily, as possible. When the race starts and you are fresh off 10-12 laps, in that car, on that track, you'll very soon find the drivers who've managed a decent qualifier, but aren't consistently fast in the race. Practice! Do your laps! Put the work in. Lee Trevino said "The more I practice, the luckier I get".

One other bit of advice is provided for us on the ranking board before you enter the race click on a drivers car video that they show them driving the course in the same car you have chosen and watch where there shift and attack points are on the track. I do this and it always benefits my qualifying time.

Hey man, I just found your channel after recently buying GT7. I'm in my 50s, and other than MarioKart, the only racing game I ever played was TrackMania on PC or Test Drive on the PS1. I'm just a guy who is more competitive than he wants to admit, and starting to get frustrated on the PS4 controller. I'm definitely enjoying your whole attitude and presentation. You've earned my subscription.

If you can’t get on the throttle at the apex, you’ve probably gone in too fast. And go easy on the throttle and increase it as your steering opens up or the fronts will scrub out. The reverse of corner entry for trail braking
@oktc68
@oktc68 Год назад
Your brake pedal is very important, can't stress enough how much difference a good brake pedal makes. Even if you're using T3PA pedals you can add a load cell which will help massively. Set it up right! You should aim to be able to hit 80% brake force with your initial input. This will allow you to then modulate around that 80% point, and you will probably find that trail braking happens without much thought. A really good brake pedal can be found on Fanatec's CSL Elite V2's for around $300, like any pedal set, hardmount for consistency.

A good tip is to go into your detailed settings to check where the peak power and torque is for a certain car. Some cars respond better to short shifting and others like to be revved.
@Ticket_Bait
@Ticket_Bait Год назад
Thankyou, where do I find these detailed settings, is it a graph or just a number?
@Empire_of_Ravens
@Empire_of_Ravens Год назад
@@Ticket_Bait it's a graph. Check in the car settings when you're in the race lobby. Also when you're in the main menu garage it shows you what RPM you should shoot for.

Correct, it’s never about how fast you go into a turn, but how fast you exit. Also some cars need in the GR3 class a little help with TC to keep from spinning out on an exit of a turn.
@thecasualracinggamer
@thecasualracinggamer Год назад
Yup, TC is something that changes from car to car. I tried driving the Valkyrie on TC 0 and that was just a nightmare. 😁

Nice video Cas as always, biggest tip i ever found off a pro sim racer is to picture a solid rod is connected to the outside hand of the wheel of the corner to the gas peddle. as your exiting and opening up the wheel your squeezing the gas same amount. You'll oversteer much less, turn tighter on the apex, know when to start accelerating and also be smoother with the wheel on exit with less corrections 👍.

4:11 - I've never put much investment into track guides. Every car will handle differently and just changing your tyres will change how you brake into a corner. The best way to get faster is practicing finding the car's limit. The quicker you can do that, the faster you'll be. Especially with fuel consumption and tyre wear. Your car gets lighter throughout the race and your tyres don't have as much grip. If it rains things change even more. But finding where that limit is as circumstances change is what's going to make you not just fast, but consistently fast. A big part of that is feedback. Practice will let you learn what kinds of feedback to look for, helping you understand where the car is in relation to its limit. A wheel with force feedback and some good headphones are a must. You can hear the tyres so much better with headphones, and you can audibly hear when you're on the limit of traction. Feeling the types of vibrations when you're at the limit gives you a very physical and sensory understanding of the car and how much further you're able to push it.

I just got a wheel for GT7 and now relearned to drive using the wheels and pedals. After getting used to it I switched to manual trans using the paddle shifters. I noticed how you need more concentration when in manual since you have to downshift/upshift constantly plus focus on your driving but the experience has been a lot better now, I play in VR too. I glance at the rev counter but normally listen to the engine revs as my upshifting points.

The problem with sim racing you never "feel" what is happening you only see what is happening. Its a theoretical way of driving and you need to drive more like how you would in a real car.
@thecasualracinggamer
@thecasualracinggamer 4 месяца назад
While you don't have the G-Forces like you get while driving a real car, you do have feeling and feedback of what is happening in your wheel. So, while it's not perfect, you do get something.

I also like to setup my tips based on where I am coming from, my background in sim racing which I think is important to those who these tips will be helpful too.
