I am very excited to get into it. Some of the panels are breath taking and the world seems so cool and fresh. I swear Lemire and Remender are idea generators that keep predicting original ideas!
Descender was a great story. I'm not typically a Sci-Fi guy but Lemire kept that story moving, balanced character development with great action sequences, all with beautiful water colors from Nguyen. What more can you ask for?
Just finished Girl from the other side, and certainly wasn’t disappointed. I’ll be keen to hear your thoughts on Ice Cream Man 2. I’m with you, in that I wasn’t blown away with the first volume. Keeping my fingers crossed on that one. Keep up the good work old bean 🤙🏼
Nice! I hope to enjoy girl from the other side. It seems exactly up my alley! And THANK YOU for making me not feel alone on Ice Cream Man haha I’m super excited to dive into it very soon!
Me and you both! I get excited when I receive books in general but when it’s a title I’ve never read I get EXTRA excited! This pick ups deserve so focus time to time also hence the video haha
I’m with you on Ice Cream Man. I thought the first book was good but not great. I’ll give the second one a shot after I get through some other books I have on my radar. Descender and Ascender are two stories I’m looking forward to
I was starting to think I was the only one! I’m currently reading Vol 2 and really enjoying it! I’m maybe 4 or 5 issues in and have only experienced 1 issue so far that I didn’t love. I’m super excited for Descender and Ascender also! People have talked very highly about them!
I don't collect Manga but if I did, The Girl From the Other Side deluxe version would be put on display as my pride and joy, the cover design is so impressive. Those deluxes versions are very swanky indeed. You need to show them off more in your bookcase.
You know what you’re right! I really should. Honestly I have a lot of books I’d like to show off more but I’m already struggling on space as it is haha I need a bookcase with infinite shelves! Someone find that for me!
I really enjoyed reading Descender and Ascender. It's beautiful art and a great adventure (sci-fi in the first part then switching to fantasy somehow). For me it's what I prefered from Lemire so far. Then I have to say that I'm also impatient to read ICM V.2. One more week to wait before my monthly box of comics to be delivered with this volume into it.
Oh yeah u I did hear it switches genre completely. That alone is some pretty fascinating stuff. Those 2 genres existing in 1 book shouldn’t be a thing. MAN I CANT WAIT! You will be reading ICM also? I smell a book clubbbbb!!!!
Hell ya !! Ice cream man 🤘🏻 I’m almost done with this Batman omnibus so I’m trying to figure out which to read next. It is ice cream man or aliens vol 4 omnibus 🤔
My vote is for Ice Cream man and that’s manly because I’m not a Aliens fan so take that worth a grain of salt haha Interested in what you decide to read tho!
Thats interesting list... I can't get over the hump to read manga.... I hate to admit I haven't read icecream man... thought about picking it up, just other books were more important for me to pick up
Yeah it took me until about 5-6 years ago to really check into manga. Once I did though I fell in love, so many things we know and love from comics BUT so many cool, fresh and new things also! I feel you on Ice Cream man for sure. I feel I’m always passing on something I love but we only got so much money.
You know I loved that #1 pick, hope this volumes clicks for you in a way that volume 1 didn't. I'm also going to assume Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Year 1 was the unnamed #6 on this list. By the way, the artist on Descender (which is a great series, by the way) last Nguyen is pronounced closer to NEW-en.
BUNK! Always showing love! I have high hopes for volume 2 I don’t know why but I do. And power rangers wasn’t featured since I’ve read a handful of issues from the first deluxe edition but after that it’s mostly blind! And THANK YOU! I am soooo bad at pronouncing names so I appreciate that and I will try to remember that. Totally not the way I was expecting it to be pronounced I can’t lie.
@@Illuminerdy_ No problem, man. Vietnamese is a tonal language and the pronunciation is oftentimes really different than what you might expect. But since Nguyen is also JP's (of OPB) last name, it's an important name!
I am really curious what you think of Ice cream man 2. I didn’t really love the first volume so I like to know what you think? I just bought a copy of Wytches #2. That is signed by Snyder, Jock and Lemire for 26€. I love Wytches but I don’t really know what these signed copies are worth? What is your opinion?
Finally! Haha where have you been all this time man!?!?! Just kidding! Yeah I really enjoyed it overall and thought it was incredibly ambitious but not the BEST comic I’ve ever read like some said it was for them. The art was pretty decent and I enjoyed it but I feel the colors impressed me more when it came to what was eye catching on each page. The story was interesting overall but I felt like it lacked direction and that’s a common issue I have with tittles that are anthologies. So really a lot of the problems I had came down to what I enjoy as a reader and thats on me. Still respect the hell out of the story telling style they went with and how they changed it up each issue. Awesome to hear from someone that had a similar experience with the title!
@@Illuminerdy_ Star Wars Darth Vader Omni by Charles Soule, Star Wars Crimson Reign and Hidden Empire, War of The Bounty Hunters also by Soule, X-O Manowar by Matt Kindt, Sentient by Lemire, Caliban, Navigator, The Kill Lock The Artisan Wraith, VS volume 1. I recently acquired Magnus: Between Two Worlds which I have not yet read, though been told has a good original storyline. Also sitting on a table waiting for me is Metal Society, Wiper, Invisible Republic and Simak to name a few.
@@hgf334 wow you were not kidding when you said your a sci fi fan! I’m gonna have to check a lot of these out! I also LOVED Vader by Soule and reviewed it on the channel, I’m pretty sure I gave it the highest score I’ve ever given a book.
