I have the Salvia Amethyst lips in the garden, south west aspect in a zone 9b and they perform gorgeous! Giving me beautiful flowers from spring to autumn till they get some heavy frost. They look amazing next my Stipa tenuissima or Nassella and with some Amethyst and with pansys in the front border. After that they have some white snapdragons or zinnias as summer companion plants, as my white echinacea is growing to be transplanted next year. This year I'm looking for to grow some Geum, since I saw that they grow well in my climate zone and are a good companion plant for my mixed border. I strongly recommend if you have stub salvias to look for a preparing salvias for winter or spring video in this channel, this one make all the difference to have a healthy and happy plant all season long.
Thank you so much! I never realized that salvia flowers have a fade. I love that on plants as it is like getting a 2 for 1 plant...lovely! USA wet PNW the Indigofera kirilowii was new and hard to find here. Totally tangerine is wonderful! I love geraniums with roses. I have heard that salvias help roses too, so I put in several and am trying 1 in a container.
