Sorry for the late response. I don’t know how to spell it either lol , but it basically looks like a spike! When anthurium are juvenile the new leaves emerge from the petiole, but when the become mature and enter the cataphyl stage the leaves begin to emerge from a kindve spike. This means the anthurium can now flower from the I believe its called stipules, of the old leaves . I hope that makes sense!
