The comment on being able to perform the material live and get your sound is right on point. Specially when most money is being made in live performances.

Great tips man! I walk this line of trying to nail my tone at the source but so many times, I wished I would have also recorded the DI. The kicker is it's so damn easy for me to do so with my workflow. The tips on gain, volume, and low end are key. I preach to put things into the context of the mix. Jamming tones and album tones are two very different things. Great job man. I've been following your channel for some time. Headed over to buy your EP now

Awesome that you put my old buddy in your video! Tue was trained in the studio of one of my best friends and rented a room in his house. They even also played in a band together. That same friend worked at TC before becoming a full time producer, opening his studio literally just down the road from the TC plant. A LOT of TC stuff in that studio obviously so maybe even part of history right there.

I'd go further on the quad guitar tracking thing using different amps and say to look into using amps (or amp sims) with significantly different gain structures, voiced fairly differently. If your main pair has a smooth high gain timbre, try to go for something that is a bit grainier for the lower pair. The whole thing becomes not only bigger, but richer and more interesting.

Hello, when you quad-track you play it 4 different times or you just copy the one-time played take? I used to double-track (one completely to the left, one completely to the right), but using the exact same sound, but I am going to review this approach.

Hey man, yep quad tracking is playing 4 seperate times. Yea you can get some great results with only double tracking and using any combination of a different guitar, amp, cab, pedals or even mics if you are micing a real cab. It's so much fun testing it all out! Hope that helps!

I’m just getting back into recording music. But the dynamic eq seems like a better option than multi band compressors. The guys in this pop music producing Facebook group tend to prefer them over multi band.

Great video, just want some clarification if anyone can help me. I'm a bedroom guitarist who can't be playing very loud or anything. Is the attenuator something I can use to play as if I was playing with the feedback and stuff of a speaker cabinet? How can I emulate this without actually playing super loud and getting evicted? lol

Good advice, all around.👍 The Nova eq is def worth looking into. I've been using Ozone in a similar capacity, but the Nova is prolly lighter on CPU usage... better for single track/bus usage, etc... And ya can't beat the price! Thanks!

For the longest time i have been using neural plugins for everything-practice, recording, mixing/reamping, etc. for the life of me i cannot get things to sustain on my leads without basically shutting off my gate all together on the track. The feedback thing makes so much sense now as to why i felt like my rhythm tone was fantastic but my lead tones have been lackluster. Now time to figure out how i can achieve that feedback with only the plugins…

Do you record bass track with a real bass guitar or with vst plug in? I always use vst bass but they just not sound right. Any recommendations?
@PlagueScytheStudios
@PlagueScytheStudios 5 лет назад
A real bass 100%. The only plugin that sounds convincing for metal to my ears is Eurobass, which is worth the cost if you dont want to mess with a real instrument or outboard gear.
