Yeah it's a general issue with the brand, they have 26 product series in europe alone of which at least 6 have moisturization for sensitive skin as a focus, I really cannot tell what makes them different from each other.
Their packaging all looks way too similar too. They really gotta work on that. I like how the versions available in the UK are a little more easy to differentiate between packaging.
I experimented with minimallist and dot n key sunscreens, but they were very greasy and led to a lot of sweating. After that, I used littlleeextra’s rice berry sunscreen, and I have to admit it’s the best sunscreen I’ve found!
To be honest, you are the most reliable, truthful and non-commercialized dermatologist on RU-vid. And yes, I agreed with other comments that you looks so much better everyday. Thank you for creating such a great contents for consumers and the public.
You are one of the only youtubers I watch that care and make an effort to advice products sold worldwide. That makes such a difference for us non American audience. Thank you sincerely
As a black woman in 🇨🇦🇨🇦 I use the third sunscreen that Dr Dray showed on my face. I will say that it is a little greasy however I don't find that I have a white cast after application. I also use Garnier Ombrelle on the exposed areas of my arms, legs and chest with no white cast.
Try using a powder with spf over it, I started doing this and not only do I get to wear more sunscreen without looking oily I also get extra spf protection from the powder
Just a tip: a lot of drugstores (Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid) have these almost unbelievable sales during certain times and of lot of the reason behind it is because the sunscreens are EXPIRED! They get massive amounts before the summer season, so by the time the next year comes, they have a lot of sunscreens that they weren’t able to sell. Most places don’t make their employees check for expired products, so PLEASE check the dates (on everything, honestly, especially if it’s going on ur face 😱) Sometimes the reason for a bad reaction is because it was expired 😟 I just recently went to Ulta to purchase a moisturizer, and it was expired, so it can happen anywhere. Be cautious ✨✨
@@swetanoor1 in the past I haven’t honestly, but these past recent years, with skincare products I’ve purchased, there’s been an expiration month and year provided. Maybe it’s something to bring up to some of your favorite skincare brands. We as consumers deserve more transparency, don’t you think?
lol even La Roche Posay sunscreens have been shown not to match their SPF index claims on their label...Purito isn't the only one MANY western brands have had similar SPF discrepancy issues
It's funny how you mentioned that people hate greasy sunscreens but love oils! I have noticed this as well haha I personally don't mind a bit more of a greasy sunscreen for under makeup, it almost gives me a bit of extra moisture that helps my makeup to stay dewy! On days that I don't wear makeup, I definitely try to find a less greasy sunscreen but I don't mind if it has a little bit because I would rather feel a little oily/dewy than stripped and dry!
La roche pose / antithelios 60 MELT-IN SUNSCREEN MILK fast absorbing, velvety finish for all skin types XL hurt me in the eyes after few minutes I applied it. Still looking for best sunscreen.
The second sunscreen you reviewed, the La Roche Posay Anthelios Anti Shine, it leaves a white cast by the way because of the small amount of titanium dioxide that it contains, if you're a guy and have facial hair or if you're just someone with a more darker skin tone, not necessarily black, even if you are olive or have a Mediterranean skin tone, you will definitely see the white cast especially when applied liberally and you really do have to apply sunscreen liberally to get good even coverage, I also find that it can pill, trust me I've used it, I know. oh and it also has a PPD of 31
I just bought that sunscreen, mainly for the amazing protection it provides, but I CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME figure out how to make it look good. I've tried everything: applying it all over the face at once, section by section, as fast as I can, slowly and calmly... Nothing works. It pills like crazy, it's like it dries immediately upon touching your skin; when you're getting to the last bits of your face (usually eyelids) it already dried up on your fingers so you're just rubbing the pilled sunscreen into your face. It does dry in white patches and streaks, and it clings to eyebrows, hairline and any other facial hair. It looks awful. I really need an online course or something on "how to apply LRP anti-shine 101", because a lot of people love it and recommend it. I must be idiot here.
@@shiningyoonie It happens to me to, i use la roche posay repairing balm before and this helps to spread it better, make it more creamy and to not cling so much to my eyebrows. But leaves me a huge white cast its imposible i have tried everything lol
@@marcia6010 you really cracked me up here!. I'm picturing you in front of your mirror, swearing and cursing. I'm the same, every day I go through the same thing. One of these days my mirror will come alive and kick me out of the bathroom lol...
The first LRP sunscreen also comes in a tinted version. I have olive skin and it blends in perfectly with no cast. It also blurs imperfections but still just looks like your skin.
In Canada La Roche Posay recently changed their anthelios ultra fluid face lotion it now has these filters : MEDICINAL INGREDIENTS:, Drometrizole Trisiloxane (Mexoryl XL) 7%, Bemotrizinol (Tinosorb S) 5%, Octisalate 5%, Octocrylene 5%, Avobenzone 3%, Homosalate 2%, Ensulizole 0.5%, Even better then before!
I’m considering the tinted sunscreen too but I have sensitive skin and seem to constantly get whatever sunscreen I’m wearing in my eyes. 😐 Have you had any trouble with it burning your eyes?
I just bought and used on vacation this past week and it’s my favorite facial sunscreen to date. I also loved how the tinted formula lasted all day! It helped keep my melasma at bay and protected me even as I use retinol products in my routine. I’m 45.

Jo Reilly: Not true. Hair is an accessory organ of the skin so its anatomy, disorders, and treatments are part of a dermatologist’s residency training program (post-medical school) and they must pass board exams that include questions on it.
I would personally like to see a video on chronic staph infections and the best way to prevent/treat them. My GP hasn't been particularly helpful aside from just saying they're incredibly stubborn... like, no shit dude. I've been on countless courses of oral antibiotics and the damn things always end up coming back. I'd love to know exactly how I contracted this. I spent 30 years of my life never having them and then bam...all of a sudden I have to deal with them. Constantly. Even if I just get a regular zit and pop it (yes, I am very careful when doing this) the blood and puss has a 'sticky' like texture to it. I know that's kinda gross but dermatology in general involved a lot of gross stuff, just go watch Dr. Lee's channel :P I must say, they have simmered down **a lot** since starting tretanoin and occasionally using a topical antibiotic as a kind of spot treatment but I want them gone for good :/
Shaka fluid aka Invisible fluid is a PPD 46 (UVA protection). Also it uses Tinosorb S lite aqua. Basically this sunscreen is really big in terms of protection, it's critical wavelength is probably around 380nm instead of 370 recommended. It is quite shiny but for the protection and stability it gives, it is absolutely incredible. They also have a "spray" version of it for kids with PPD 36.
the ultra light invisible fluid is my one and only sunscreen. Incredibly lightweight, doesn't sting the eyes, act as a makeup primer. I can see myself using it for the rest of my life ❤❤❤❤
The first one she mentioned is amazing !!!! I live in France so it’s only 10€ this is the best sunscreen I have ever used and I am a black girl it doesn’t leave a white cast on me . I looove it
I loved their sunscreens, but despite the alcohol content... My skin was not always as super dry as it is now.. in years past, I really appreciated a light non-sticky formula.. now, I prefer a smooth, creamy consistency!
@@dilashabhattarai6826 yes this one does leave a white cast unfortunately. The anthelios is soft 60 so it's pretty thick. The ultra fluid spf 50 likely won't leave a white cast
La Roche - Posay Anthelios 60 Melt In Sunscreen Milk is perfect for deeper skin tones. I currently wear it on my body and face. I purchased my sunscreen from Ulta and did not experience a white cast.
It's the only one I have found in Australia that is guaranteed not to sting when it gets in your eyes. And all sunscreens move around your face in the course of a day and end up in your eyes.
I love LRP invisible fluid. A lot of the sunscreens i tried really burned my eyes but this one doesn't. It's also very comfortable to wear. I have normal to dry skin sometimes so I do wear a little cerave cream underneath sometimes but i still love how it wears and how comfortable it is. My sister has oily skin and she loves loves loves it too. No stickiness, stinging or oilyness. Also grear formula. Thank you so much for educating us Dr!
My top sunscreen is La Roche Posay Athelios Ultra for sensitive eyes. I'm so happy I found this product! I have VERY sensitive eyes and sometimes sensitive skin, this doesn't irritate my skin and I can even wear it on my eyelids! I don't think it's water resistant though? Doesn't say on the box.
I'm a Korean and I don't buy korean sunscreens. I think European and Japanese sunscreens have better formulated sunscreens (in terms of ingredients, long wear, cosmetic elegance, compatibility with makeup) with years of research to back up the product
I am a 50 yo pale dude with super dry skin. The melt-in milk is my wintertime face sunscreen and moisturizer. By the way, I buy it using my flexible spending account (FSA) benefits since it as an approved expense. Order online from Target with FSA debit card.
Since recently subscribing to your channel I’ve never been so excited about sunscreen in my 45 years of life. I live in South Africa so Sunscreen has always been drummed into us but it’s hard to find good sunscreen that’s not thick and goopy especially considering I love wearing makeup. Luckily we get La Roche Posay here now and the pricing is actually good so I can’t wait to go get me some!! Thank you for your incredible teaching here on RU-vid 🤩
I am over 50, medium tone, and still oily. La Roche sunscreens are my favorites and I wear them every day. My only complaint is the smell. It smells like gasoline. I know you say it is fragrance-free, but they smell really strong to me.
I'm so happy that you made this video. I love La Roche Posay. The first bottle I owned was a hand me down from a friend during my China study abroad. It was all I had for sunscreen when I travelled rural China that summer. My friend and I burned horribly on our first day, because we tried to find a place via walking and got lost for 2-3 hours in the midday sun. After that I wore sunscreen religiously every 2 hours, because we were hiking everywhere. I didnt wash my face or brush my teeth or shower for weeks at a time. It was RURAL China and honestly I felt dirty just looking at their bathrooms, it felt cleaner not showering. So all I did for skincare for about a month was La Roche Posay every 2 hours. I am very oily and acne prone. I didnt break out at all!!! I look back on that time as one of the great brief periods of my life that I actually had clear beautiful skin with no acne. I personally had such an amazing experience using La Roche Posay and I would recommend this to others!
@@sarahaurent2915 hi! It does not; however, I find that sometimes it makes my makeup look cakey. Could be the way I’m applying buuut I’ve been loving the Walgreens sensitive spf. It’s in a purple bottle, does not burn my face, & it’s only $3! :)
@@user-gc3rv6jw3n hi! I do like it still buuut I think it’s kinda pricey for every day imo! I’ve been using the Walgreens brand for sensitive skin, I really like that one & it’s inexpensive! :)
Dearklairs, purito without fragrance and oils , very good sunscreen, I hate the grease feeling in others sunscreen. My skin is very sensitive those sunscreen are amazing.👍🏻 highly recommended.
Really great review of the La Roche Posy sunscreens 🧴 I am still using the Ultra lite Fluid which they called Shaka Fluid the same one I sent you. It really is such an amazing all round powerful UVA and UVB protector sunscreen. I did write to La Roche Posy to see if they would ever consider replacing avobenzone with Uvinul A Plus, which would be an even bigger improvement on an already fantastic sunscreen but I didn’t get a reply. I use the Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Gel for my neck area and the two work really we together. Yes, you definitely need an oil cleanser to get La Roche Posy sunscreen off as they a very waterproof. I liked your prop and pop up showing the sunscreen filters 🥰👍🐶
When I lived in France La Roche Posay was the number one dermatologists choice of sunscreen and it was cheap, cheap, cheap in Spain. Its expensive in UK as is everything. PS Dr Dray, I am so glad to see you looking so damn healthy, skin today looks to die for.
I'm so grateful for the Anthelios line! Sunscreens was a necessary evil to me for ages. Irritating, greasy, whitening and smelly. The latest LRP ones are none of that. I can use them up to the lashline and on the lids with no problem. That's major! The term "that sunscreen smell" is no longer in my vocabulary.
To my european shishters (and brothers): Garnier Ambre Solaire Sensitive Advanced UV Face Fluid is a dupe for LRP Shaka Fluid. The first 14 ingredients are identical, so are the filters. Plus it's half the price! The company is also owned by l'Oreal btw
Enjoyed the review. I just purchased my first La Roche Posay product recently and have been happy with it so far. Will be looking for one of these sunscreens next. Thanks, Dr Dray! Hope you have a fantastic evening. 💙
I’ve been touting this for years, the spf 50 eye sensitive in a pump is my absolute fav. Beautiful under makeup, no white cast at all, zero pilling, doesn’t make the eyes sting, non greasy - just perfect. It’s so perfect that when I try to remember the things that can be annoying with sunscreen, I have to really wrack my brains to remember what life before this product was like.
netcatzpj hi, I’m so sorry I didn’t see this. The newest one I bought doesn’t say eye sensitive on but it’s the same product, it should be in a pump and have a blue stripe on it.
netcatzpj the ones I had previously did say eye sensitive on though, I bought the new ones on the internet, not sure if they’ve changed the packaging or if I’ve just got one usually marketed to another country (I’m in U.K.)
Thank you Dr. Dray for making my gift giving SO easy! Mother’s Day...sunscreen; birthdays...sunscreen; Christmas...sunscreen; the platter I bring to thanksgiving...sunscreen. I’m THAT person now. 😂😂😂
YAM AII I haha. I have been following Dr. Dray for three years now and I know what’s a no go. But it is true that (like she says) “anything has the potential to break someone out.” But it allows people to try one and its a good conversation starter about what are some good options for their skin. But yes, NEVER fragrance!
I discovered their sunscreen in CVS when trying to find one that wouldn’t irritate my sons skin, and I never regretted the $30 price tag! I absolutely love it, I’ve never seen a sunscreen that IMPROVED the skin like a quality skincare product!
I use LRP sunscreens only. Im from Europe by the way so we have the strong filters. I havent aged at all. People always think im around 22 when in fact im 34
The La-Roche Posay Anthelios Hydrating Cream spf50+ (with the blue line) is perfect for normal to dry skin. It feels just like any other moisturiser, leaves zero white cast and spreads very easily on the skin. I have an oily T-zone but I can make it work with with a bit of mineral powder. It is moisturising without being sticky and greasy. Guys, you should come to Europe and buy a suitcase of sunscreens when this pandemic is over!
So funny that you posted this today! I just bought the anthelios 50 mineral ultra light fluid. It’s my first time buying this brand sunscreen and I’m really impressed. I’ve been using Neutrogena clear face sunscreen and it looks good but it burns my face so bad. I really wanted something that looks nice and feels comfortable. So happy to have finally found a great sunscreen!
Dear Dr Dray, I wish you would do a full review of NIOD! I am super interested to know what you have to say about their products since it's a sister brand of The Ordinary with much higher price points.
As usual thank you Dr Dray ! I just bought Anthelios Dermo-Pediatrics SPF 50+ for my body , and the ultra light invisible fluid 50 for my face and I'm so excited. France has some of the best sunscreen products in the world along with Japan and South Korea.
Thank you Dr Dray, I tried out the La Roche-Posay Invisible fluid based in your review and so excited to finally find a sunscreen that affordable and fits me perfectly. I cant thank you enough!!! You are legend! Love from sunny South Africa 🌸
My dermatologist suggested me a few LRP products years ago and they have been very helpful. They also have a a huge number of products so your videos/reviews have been very helpful as I prepare for the outside world, starting with this summer. (I'm from Europe fyi.)
I wish LRP was cruelty free, I used to use quite a few of their products before I became vegan a few years back! Would love an updated vegan skincare/sunscreen video by the way ;-) Also you look lovely in this video Dr Dray!
Actually the anthelios anti-shine does leave a cast, my phototype is 4, and I love the feel of it, alcohol and fragrance free, won't sting my sensitive eyes. But it does leave a cast.
I recently purchased LRP SPF 60 Anthelios Melt-In Milk Sunscreen at CVS. I'm very impressed with how this sunscreen feels. It's fast absorbing and it does not burn around my eyes at all.
The Fluid is great!!! I loved it, I bought Anthelios for Imperfection and it was a disaster, super sticky and really heard to spread. And I feel like I had more inflammation afterwards
@drdray Out of these five which is best for red skin. Have redness on cheeks and between eyebrows so I tend to use makeup for this but don't want to always wear makeup especially in summer
I have very sensitive skin and cystic acne and I've been using the LRP Shaka fluid spf50+ for 8 months and It's has been the sunscreen that I have ever used. Also probably the best available in SouthAmerica. I've had tried Missha's Sunscreen (Zero Sebum spf50+) and Avéne Fluid Sunscreen no fragrance (spf50+). The first one has been too overdrying, and the second one has been kind of oily for our humid weather but suitable for some dry winter days
My dermatologist recommended Santeva Brightening Pro Sunscreen (TINTED) 50+ and I couldn't love it any more!!! It has a little bit of tint that provides just the smallest amount of coverage to even out my skin tone and problem areas. It blends in so easily, I can haphazardly throw it on without worrying about streaks. This is the only thing I've been wearing most days in terms of makeup. It's honestly my new favorite product just because it makes my life easier. Best sunscreen ever
Walgreens and CVS have the really expensive ones for $19.99. I just got an Anthelios melt in sunscreen and mineral melt in one for 20$ each, each of them retail for $33.95. I was stoked!
Thank you for this informative video! I currently use the La Roche Posay Anthelios 60 Clear Skin dry touch on my oily skin and love it! It pills so I apply it quickly and wait a little while before applying a tinted SPF. It doesn't break me out or leave a shine like some other brands do!
That headband though! LOVE. Also, not sure what you have on your skin in this video, but it looks amazing. ALL sunscreen burns my eyes. I hate sunscreen, and ironically I live in NM, so can't even consider going without :(
Dr Dray I have a small sample of La Roche - Posay broad spectrum SPF 60 Athelios 60 ultra light sunscreen fluid CELL - OX Shield and I love it. no irritation or anything. I might end up buying this in a full tube I like it that it is liquid easier to put it on. Didn’t sting my eyes or anything
I use La Roche Posay Waterproof SPF 50 for kids (Gel version there's also lotion). It's amazing for skin on the face even though it is ment to be used on whole kids body (face too), of course it is little bit more expesive than their face SPFs but you get five time the amount so not really. Some days I just put this alone and I am good to go.
I love the first one you listed too 😍 Expensive but it ticks all the boxes - in Australia this brand is usually between $25 - $40 Aus 😌 Second one is really good too but it’s a bit more shinny
So because of you ( and my hours of binging) my skin has never looked better. I just turned 34 and this last month is the first month I’ve had skincare. I know. The last thing I needed to get was a sunscreen. I tried two other of your recommendations but they pilled over my moister cream and actually stung a bit. Returned then and got THE ONE La Roche-Posey sunscreen you didn’t mention here ( but I figured if all the other are great why wouldn’t this one be) and it’s the cooling water-lotion. I LOVE it so much! Doesn’t sting, pill and goes on so smoothly then disappears. Thank you so much! ❤️
I ordered the Anti-shine one a couple of days ago (in France). Thank you for addressing the running into the eyes issue, I hate it when sunscreens do that.
Regarding my exprience with this brand. These sunscreens are amazing in terms of protection but make my skin super dry, especially if I wear them during winter where climate is already dry enough. My advise is using avene water spray beforehand or applying a moisturizer that will 100% be absorbed by your skin, otherwise if there is anything on your skin before applying them, they dont work. Also they are super hard to match with your skin tone. The ones that are on square boxes make my skin slightly yellow, and the rest make my skin super white. Mimd you that Im pale white and even I when I wear them look like a clown
I have the anti-brilliance one, so far it hasn't broken me out however I have a medium/light Asian skin complexion so it leaves a white cast and pills if used after TO niacinamide and a light moisturiser so I have to wait 10 minutes before putting it on. It also flakes around my hairline makes it look like I have dandruff.
@@ioannabregianni8530 yeah that's the one I have it flakes so bad. I bought a Purito spf50 unscented and its way better I'd recommend you get it. Still gonna try and finish this one up first though.
The best chemical sunscreen I’ve found is water based, moisturizing, totally invisible SPF 30 and affordable . It’s made by a dermatologist in LA - Beverly Hills dermatology, her name is Dr. Bussell. They sell it online too!!!!!
I've actually seen how when I forget to use my zinc oxide SPF 50 I get a burn and inflammation and when I use it there's full protection. And this is in Australian summer aswell, so mineral sunscreens really are some of the best, you can't really get away from the cast when it comes to sun protection.
My skin is very sensitive. Dermatologists haven't got a clue what cause my flare-up. Looks like I've been in a fight and lost. They just stopped testing after a couple of years. I had it since 18, aem 49 now. Any way - am obviously very wary about trying or putting anything on my skin. I tried La Roche Posay, and I love it. Touch wood. I enjoy watersports and La Roche Posay really protects my odd skin. Thank you Dr Dray. Best on utube.
The anti-shine one unfortunately didn't work for me - it started pilling and balling from the first application in the morning. It was so bad that I had to wash it off and then apply another sunscreen.
What about the Alcohol Denat that it contains as the second ingredient? I am acne prone with sensitive skin and I really want something that will not further irritate my skin. (La Roche Posay anthelios ultra fluid face lotion)
The last one she talked about (the spf 60 melt in lotion) has it listed as the 6th ingredient. Even that made me wary. I try my hardest to avoid it, especially in the top 5 ingredients.
Alcohol denat. is used as a solvent for the filters so it is almost unavoidable in SPFs. However, unless you have a known allergy or intolerance to alcohol denat., I wouldn't care too much. It evaporates in seconds anyway.
I like your videos because you show us your real skin without makeup, I have hormonal acne and I do not use makeup,I aim to improve my skin care without makeup, I see alot of people with flawless skin wearing makeup
I love the first one you showed, that's the one I use daily! One question, do you recommend using sunscreen while using a mask? Or should I keep the mask part sunscreen-free?
I have used this sunscreen for a couple of years now. It is the best, it comes tinted to. I use this one, then I use the Tinted BB cream. I am outside in the sun everyday. It works!!!
I love LRP, in fact, whenever I travel I always make a point of visiting a pharmacy to scoop up any LRP sun creams that are not available in Canada. Last year I started using Vichy's Ideal Soleil sun creams and I love them too. I would love to see you review the Vichy sun creams.
Best on any market...I live in sun scorched Mexico and about six years ago went through the tortuous Efudix pre-malignant cell treatment on my face. My dermatologist insisted on La Roche Posay sunscreen after all had healed, and I've not had a single wavering cell since. I love it love it love it!!! And I've allergic skin as well...no problems with this delightful stuff! I also discovered their extaordinary serum and at 82, apparently my skin looks like a 650year old's, I'm told (though not to me as I'm more critical)
