This was an awesome video I taught my son and middle daughter how to drive 4x4 with my 1977 Bronco, taught my youngest daughter to drive 4x4 with my lifted F250 Super Duty, my wife is next with her new 4Runner. Aloha to you and your Ohana. 🤙🏽
Good for you in trying. The 4runner is an incredible vehicle, and its capabilities are just the same. As for the noises. She's just talking to you. I, too, have a 2016 4runner trail with kdss, and she does the same. It's all part of the charistcs of the 4wheel drive system and her charm.keep practicing, and you will enjoy the places that it can take you.
I own a 4 runner Limited and debating making it into an overland rig... Its more than capable to do some serious offroading. Also the AWD all the time helps in Snow/Rain.
It has full-time 4WD becuase it has a center differential, like the Porsche Cayennes! The Sequoia has the same center differential, basically these transmissions are a exactly the same as the Lexus GX 470/460 models! Toyota said if you are not going to buy a Lexus, we will sell you one anyway!
Transfer case will go into limbo mode, when going back and forth and then shutting off. When you start it back on the trucks in limbo mode because the electronic actuator wasn't set in either position so it's not sure what to do. I'm guessing with the towing the vibrations set the actuator closer to where it could find its set position.
The transmission likely was overheating because the ATrac was not being used properly, therefore the truck was protecting itself... once it cooled down it was fine to drive once again... recommend studying how and when to used the different controls including what to use in the 4 wheel drive low and high and when..
