Well, I've been to 37 countries and I have never visit either Finland or Norway, and I lived in Sweden during my first 33 trips. So visiting your neighbours isn't completely strange.
@@Borje-th1fc Finland seems very much like Sweden in many ways, so to me, it's just boring going there. But it's probably beautiful if your from somewhere else but Scandinavia. And Norway is super expensive, so why waste my money to go there?? A friend of mine went to Norway and she got a normal sized ham and cheese Pizza for 16€. Because that's about how much a pizza costs
All the trips I went on from the age of 18 without my family were just funded simply through working and saving up! Quite literally as simple as that, no help from my parents. I would just work as much as I could on the evenings and weekends. The trips were also on a budget so money would stretch as far as possible.
@@BackpackingBananas it's great that you worked on it yourself I actually plan on doing it myself as well. Knowing that you made it gives me a lot of Motivation ❤
Backpacking Bananas And the friends you went with did the same? Lol my friends would never work that much and would NEVER go to these places with me lol what should I do
@@BackpackingBananas In my country, If we work extra and extra jobs, do you know what we get? We get fired. Most places don't allow you to do another job (and it's completely legal for a company to do this). Most jobs (even the good ones) don't even cover basic living expenses, and there is no minimum wage... It's why where I am from, travel is for the rich and privileged....
I agree, in Portugal, its really easy to put on a backpack and wander around the charming cities on foot for some crazy beautiful instagram pics. Or go to the southern region for awesome surfing summer vacations like most brits do.
I was in 13 or if you count ones that I travelled throught 17 + one night in Bosnia so technicly 18. Plus some countries I visited twice (like Spain, Germany or Italy) or numerous times because they're near (Hungary, Slovakia or Czechia. I think you can tell where I'm from xD) I wish I could travell way more but Im really afraid of planes (and still I fly almost everytime I'm going somewhere xD) so that the problem. But I hope I'll overcome this fear one day
This is awesome! You've been to so many countries, it's crazy and yet looking at the map, you can see just how big the world actually is and how many more places you can explore. 😄
Oisin Cosgrove ‘technically it is’ sorry but it is not at all. 6 counties belong to the uk and the rest is it’s own country. They did not fight for their freedom for so many years, causing so many deaths and executions for people to say they ‘technically’ are still part of the uk. That is extremely offensive to Irish people who feel very strongly about their history
I LOVED hearing the stories behind the countries which were entertaining and insightful. I am obsessed with travel so I watched from beginning to end. Loved it & I am so happy that you have made it this far on your earth journey! Also love seeing pictures of fetus BB!
If you ever go to Norway, I'd go for a roadtrip on the west coast, up to Helgelandskysten and then Lofoten. Helgelandskysten is often forgotten by backpackers, but it is absolutely stunning! It is perfect for going on a "bike" roadtrip and you can bike from island to island.
@@straightmelon8792 maybe everyone who wasn't so patriotic of the US and didn't know that there were another 195 countries other than the US. The only thing about Canada though is that it's very cold but other than that it has some pretty cool history in places like Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. I love Canada. I heard that they say sorry a lot there too so for her it wouldn't have been awkward, considering she's from the UK. I'm from West London so that would be pretty normal to me too
I'm 14 and I've been to- 1- United Arab Emirates 2- Thailand 3- USA 4- Hungary 5- Czech Republic 6- Slovakia 7- Germany 8- Italy 9- Vatican 10- Switzerland 11- Liechtenstein 12- Netherlands 13- Belgium 14- England 15- Scotland 16- Norway 17- Sweden 18- Turkey 19- Pakistan 20- Sri Lanka 21- Saudi Arabia 22- Austria 23- Spain 24- France If the coronavirus cures by summer I'm planning to see Oman, Croatia and Bosnia Herzegovina
I'm 14 and I'd been in these countries😜 countries😜 -Spain (I live here) -Germany -Switzerland -Austria -France -Netherlands (Amsterdam) -UK -tunez -ethiopia -poland
I want to do a roadtrip to Poland (Warsaw, Wroclaw and Krakow) then the Ukraine (Kiev), Lithuania (Vilnius), Latvia (Riga), Estonia (Tallinn) and Finland (Helsinki) - would you recommend?
@@MaeveWinters i've only been to Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia, not exactly sure about Poland and Finland Latvia - i would recommend going to old Riga, there are plenty of old buildings, you can go by yourself, but you can also get a walking tour, there you will get some explanation, you could also visit *Latvian ethnographic open air museum* , it is very beautiful. If you're going to visit Old Riga, then there's a chance that you'll find some cafés and other places where you can get a meal. Lithuania- i haven't really been to Vilnius, but i've been to Druskininkai, if you google Druskininkai, you can find more information about visiting it. I don't know for what reason you're going there, and if you're going alone.... but you can go to the "Druskininkai air... train? " i have no idea how its in english, sorry. I know a few great restaurants, *Toli toli* and *Senasis nemunas* Estonia- You can go to the Tallin television tower, i really don't know how to explain things in english, its hard... so i recomment just googling it and getting information in english. Some really nice restaurants - NOA restaurant, restaurant Leib. Since im not Estonian or Lithuanian, if you want to, you can ask other Estonians and Lithuanians on internet, like here. Sorry for my bad english :)
I used to be too a homebody too. Id never left the US and I didn’t even have a passport until 2 years ago and one day I just decided I was going to travel the world, so I got a passport, booked a one way flight to London and now in just 2 years, I’ve been to 25 countries, 5 continents and I live in Australia now! You just gotta make the decision to do it
Same here. Ive only gone on trips with my Family which keeps the feeling of being at home alive. But yeah depending on the location of trip i would choose staying at home.
I’m 25 and been to just six countries....multiple times! Been wanting to solo travel since I was 21 but never had the confidence to do it! Next year I’m travelling solo for the first time doing the working holiday visa in Australia it’s well and truly overdue! You’ve inspired me and keep up the good work! 😊
HEY so i just wanted to break my lurker silence and say that I found your channel when I was panicking about backpacking solo through central america for 6 months in like two weeks time and i am so glad i did! i've never travelled anywhere on my own before and everyone was saying i was mental to do this but after binging all your videos i am so fuckin STOKED and grateful for all the tips i have picked up from your videos. AGHHHH cant wait! xxx
I didn't think I'd watch this the whole way through... But I got so drawn in! I got back to England over a year ago from travelling Philippines and Asia, you help keep my travelling spirit alive I swear 😂 you should go to South Africa / Mozambique, still my favourite place + humpback whale diving 👌👌👌
Love this vid!! Really wanna travel so much more! :)) But was wondering if you'd consider doing a video on air travel, and "flight shame"? And how the "backpacking culture" might be changing due to this in ur opinion?
I would argue the Island of Ireland is absolutely gorgeous and theres a lot to explore and do, as well as it being tiny so you could get a lot done in even just a few days! May be slightly biased tho🤷♀️😂
Big congrats to you! That's a great amount of countries for only being 25. I'm close to 40 and I've been to about 19 countries. My goal is 50 countries before I turn 50 😄
You definitely should go to Finland! It's one of my favorite places I've ever traveled to. I've been there twice to get the full experience on the whole country. I spent autumn in the Northern Ostrobothnia area and then the entire winter in Lapland. Last summer I spent 7 weeks in Northern Karelia and the coastal towns of South-East Finland. It's such a beautiful place, I definitely recommend going there !!
What a great way to reminisce about your travels! I love the idea of waiting to scratch off this map so you can do a large chunk at once. It's amazing all the places you have been!
such an aesthetically pleasing video😂 just thought I’d say Ecuador is an absolutely amazing country I never wanted to leave, I’d recommend doing the 3 peak challenge in the Andes it’s so gorgeous and rewarding. Also aim to see a spectacle bear in a cloud forest!!
This is great! I also make travel videos.. I am a South African living in Singapore 😊 and I hope to be able to scratch more countries off my map soon!!
@@BackpackingBananas you're an inspiration! can't wait to start full time traveling and solo backpacking (literally starting next week in San Juan, Puerto Rico!) thanks for the courage!! :D
You should go to Stockholm and Gothenburg in Sweden! The two biggest cities in Sweden! I live in Gothenburg and I LOVE it. You should also go to Cyprus
What a wonderful vlog! I thoroughly enjoyed watching the scenes and hearing about your journeys. You did an excellent recap. Grats on getting your map updated and thank you for sharing.
This was the best video. So exciting and inspiring. I'm 20 and planning my first year long backpacking trip to Europe. I hope the next 5 years bring half as many adventures as you have had. Also, as an Australian I'm feeling pretty proud that you love our country so much!
Hi as UK has becomr prison like because of brexit we can only spend 90 days in Europe at a time and then have to come our .. do you have to do the same from Australia ? I cant believe this has happened?
27 y/o from Sweden. Lived in UK and France. Been to Italy, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Ireland, (Scotland), (Wales), Spain, Czech Republic, Thailand and South Africa. Can´t wait to visit more!
this video is AWESOME! The content, your editing and production, and all of your stories that you tell! Thank you for continually sharing the travel bug with all of your viewers!
Omg you are such an inspiration 😊 I’m glad I found your channel! 👍🏻😊 I just came back from a trip to London and I had an awesome experience! Thank you for your awesome videos 😊👍🏻
You should think about going to Finland (especially the Eastern Finland or Lapland). In summer you'll witness the nightless night and in winter there are northern lights, lots of snow etc. Also autumn is so beautiful, the colours look amazing in Lapland in particular.
Loved watching this video so much! I got a big lump in my throat when you got to New Zealand. I just got back from my backpacking trip to NZ and Australia and it hit me so hard how much I actually miss it. 😔
My jurney around the world xD 1997: I visited Romania, Grecee 2002: Belgium 2003: France, England, Scotland 2005: Luxembourg, Netherlands 2006: New zealand, Australia and Fiji 2007: Brazil, Argentina, Chile 2008: Spain ( And france again) 2010: Australia 2011: Cyprus, Turkey 2012: Bulgaria ( to visit my friends) I am from USA! And I stoped maked trips for some time
This is an amazing and absolutely inspiring video! I was just curious how expensive are those trips and how you finance them, especially in the pre youtube era! I just discovered your channel though and maybe you have those answers in other videos... So I'm definitely gonna watch more. Happy traveling!
Thats so cool and even looking how big the world is and how "little" you scratched for sooo much countries. And i traveled soo much (for 15 years of my life) and one day i want to travel as much as you
If you love fairytales you should definitely go to Prague around Christmas it always lites up beautifully and its a very calm but still hectic place with a lot of beautiful statues and oldtimey buildings
Just started watching your videos because of a UK trip I'm doing next year. I was just curious on how many countries you've been so I started watching this video and once you mentioned my country (Honduras) you just got a new fan. I'm glad you loved Utila! Hope to have you around any time soon.
Aha! I need a scratch map myself too so I can track the countries that I've followed you in your vlogs. Lol! But seriously, 43 countries is incredible! You're amazing. 👍😁
Do you know where your map is from? I have a scratch map but it doesn't have the states on and I prefer to not cross off the entire country because I share your view on it. Also, do you find that coins work well enough?
Journey With Jemma I have one and if you scratch on your wall (if it’s a bit bumpy) it’ll scratch off the writing underneath, if you scratch on a flat surface like a countertop coins work really well - I don’t know if that makes sense but you have to scratch really carefully so you don’t damage the map underneath
This video is such an inspiration for me. Coming back from a year backpacking Australia I got really ill and it has meant that I haven’t been able to travel since. However this video is my motivation to get better so I can have amazing experiences like this✈️
