Well done Pierrick! The most important principles, clearly explained in a very short video. I'm currently midway through the 'Effective Art of Rigging 2' course, and it's a step above all other Blender courses I've followed. The explanations are clear, audio is easy to understand even at 2x speed. There's a LOT to unpack, I can't believe the price VS the value it offers, it's a steal. I definitely recommend it!

One tip I give animators is to not keep all your transform keys on the same frame once your timing is sorted. It's easy to leave all of your axes on the same frame but then everything is changing at the same time which can look wooden or robotic, especially on the hips. Once timing and posing is done I sculpt the curves in the graph editor to make movement blend and flow better. Your poses and timing might change a bit but overall it will look more believable. A shift in the hips in X doesn't always mean Y and Z need to be changing. Especially when you've got something rotating AND translating on the same key. If it looks stiff move some axes around to loosen it up. Break it up and sculpt your curves, don't be lazy

really informative as always! i'm very intrigued by how you decide when to change the focal length and/or the cameras distance from the character. it adds so much emotion and action to a shot.
@PierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN
@PierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN Месяц назад
Well, that's a classic dolly zoom. Once you ttried it once, it's pretty easy to achieve and always super effective. Move your camera back or forward, and increse/decrease the focal length at the same time. Try to keep your character at the same size. You need a good composition of the Bground for it to work.

@PierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN
@PierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN Месяц назад
Well.... I don't think I can teach a workflow about it. Workflow is more about the generality. When t comes to style, it's more about the guts... I can't find a good advice honestly. But if you like a particular style, at some point, it will show in your work, you can't help that.

Cuz most of the time character are not in a high quality and high effort action scenes and from what I have seen the subtle actions,expressions are what really sells the characters and it's feels.

I am currently following your work trying to learn how to do strong poses and place emphasis on the right parts of the animation. I find myself struggling with knowing how long to hold a pose, and how to make sure the motion is readable throughout. I think more about blocking could be good, especially when it comes to blocking out the timing. I find myself adding too many poses in the wrong places and too little in the right. Also should key poses have stretch/squash?
