Garry is very mediocre in the standup, for such a long tall guy for the division. He lacks power, volume and the ability to finish plus he gets hit a lot. And also very boring. Not the hottest take
Wrestling may not be leon weakness but he hasn't yet fought a submissive artist, in both his fight vs usman and colby we was taken down and held down, and sometimes leon just gets up with usman and colby on his back. Both had zero submission threat Islam would choke him if he gets into that position
Topurio would struggle to reach Islam in the boxing just as Volk and DP did. Islam would abuse the open stance kicks just like in the Volk rematch. Ilia stands so low he would be waist height with Islam and just begging to be kicked at range. We haven’t seen anything from Topurio at a high level in terms of kicking defence, cardio or grappling. He’s too unproven to pick against Makhachev. Now if he gets more experience, beats Max and Ortega/Yair as he comes into his prime he would be a big problem for anyone at 155
I cant lie the only BAD take is the Yair take. Yair is gonna get SNAPPED in half at LW, even all the primary strikers are gonna shoot takedowns and mogg him

Nah dude you trippin thinking Makhachev beats Leon. Did you see how Leon looked next to Islam, he is way bigger+ the only way he beats Leon is by wrestlefcking him and that wont happen bec yes you can take Leon down but he will always get back up and in his last 6 fights, 5 of them were grapplers thats why we are seeing the improvements from Leon and he is literally a better Version of Adesanya, Leon is too slick on the feet for Makhachev and might set him up for something. I am going with Leon by TKO. If no hips 35 year old Poirier was getting back up and did that performance on Islam, Leon actually might go for the Kill on him given how big of a fight it is.

To be fair the Tony that paddy fought is the worst fighter of all time. He was in the middle of a 6 fight losing streak and got finished 4 times and had 2 bad ko losses. He was damn near 40 and was so beaten up and broken from his career. And to top it all off he literally didn’t even train MMA for that fight. That being said I’m still picking paddy to sit on top of Bobby green for 15 mins
O malley is definitely the best striker currently because Sean iq is just so good. he just knows how to read his opponents to then find a counter for them. If he goes against merab he’s knocking him out imo
Yair has horrid boxing defence and quits whenever something big hits him 😂 also, Volk didn’t “need to shoot takedowns” on Yair, Volk won on the feet, he just shot for takedowns because it was easy
Yair could be a problem but the thing is he’ll never crack the top 3 Islam smokes him,arman smokes him,Charles strangles him but he could get like a lucky headkick ko but other than that I can see him sitting on the #4 or #5 ranking for a while

What do you think about Ian Gary always bringing his son to meet his opponents? Do you think its just some sort of mind games or just an authentic wholesome moment? Kind hard to to explain but let it put it this way. @BasedMMA Volk is the guy above him in the weight class. Sean wants to be champ champ and said he wouldn't fight in featherweight if Volk was champion. He probably thought Volk would beat him worse than he did Yair.
Max beats ilia. Max chin and style is bad for ilia. I definitely don't think ilia beats islam. But I do agree O'Malley is getting better and better. His growth has been amazing to watch. Not a fan of his personality, but I can't deny he's good and getting better. Ian Gary gets smashed by shavkat. Ian Garry's opinion about himself, doesn't match his skill level. Islam vs Leon would be a good fight. Lean Islam. I'll have to see Islam get beat to ever pick against him. Islam would be super strong at 170lb fully hydrated.

Room temp takes lol. Holloway and Volk both already proved that 145 has better strikers at the highest level than 155. Plus Holloway literally already beat Yair and proved he could put in work at 155 by whooping Gaethje so kind of pointless to gas up Yair. Also 170 is and always has been a wrestler dominated division, Ian is a good striker for 170 objectively. I’m warming up the crowd these are my lukewarm takes. Ian Garry is a good striker compared to Ben askren but in terms of actually being a good striker he a lot of deficiencies in his game. He gets away with because of height and length but he’s not a good striker

@@Bettttrrrr I did bring up his deficiencies in my video, inability to finish and impose damage, lack of power, no boxing fundamentals, lack of head movement. People just see a long rangy striker and because he throws a couple leg kicks every round, they think he’s “great striker”. Get to my level
