I was almost 61 when I started using Tretinoin. Six years later my skin is better than it was 10+ years ago. If someone wonders if it's too late to start using Tretinoin, in my opinion it isn't. Blessings..MaryEllen

MaryEllen After 60 I agree. I started using Tretinoin (0.05) two years ago at age 67, my skin is much nicer now than it was then.

I love my Dermatica treatment. I have really simplified my routine and seen results. Although, one thing Wayne didn’t really touch on is the purging effect of a prescription strength retinoid, you are likely to experience an increase in spots/acne while using treatment. It is simply speeding up the process of the clogged pore/ breakouts in the deeper layers of the skin and bringing them to the surface. It’s not a pleasant experience whether you are using Tretinoin/a retinoid for acne or anti ageing. For acne sufferers it feels like you are going backwards and for those using it to treat fine lines and wrinkles who other wise had no problematic skin it can also be a lot to suddenly experience a high frequency of breakouts! Just bear this in mind if you are considering using a prescription strength retinoid. 💚

Hi Wayne, I used to use tretinon when I lived in the states and had terrific results, but then when I moved to the UK, I could not find it here at all. I’m 66 and never took care of my skin. Never had acne and lived in the sun. And surprisingly, I have skin tough as nails. Very, very little upsets my skin. I started months ago with Neutrogena products after I took a good hard look in the mirror and didn’t like what I saw. Almost instant results; my skin just appreciated a little TLC. Then I graduated to some more precise products like niacinamide, azelic acid, bachkuchiol, and Vitamin C (among others...). Even more improvement. But knew the Malasma/hyperpigmentation and wrinkles was going to take something stronger. I’m two weeks into my first prescription from Dermatica and the transformation is amazing. I jumped right in with using it every night and my skin hasn’t looked like this in 20 years. No adverse reactions whatsoever (but remember, my skin is tough). I swear by Tretinoin and Dermatica.

I’ve been using Dermatica Tretinoin since late last year and the condition of my skin has improved dramatically. I now only use 2 or 3 times a week at night for maintenance.

I used Dermatica for my acne prone skin for almost a year, had my product changed twice by them and it did not help my skin at all, it’s actually been much better since I’ve stopped using it. I don’t doubt it works for some people but definitely didn’t work for me personally

Have you tried Differin? It's available over the counter in the US, but is a prescription only drug here in Canada. I use the highest strength for anti aging and love it, but it's actually made for acne. It's super gentle and inexpensive.

I started using Dermatica almost three months ago from one of your videos and I totally expected my acne to get worse before it got better (to purge!) But it didnt, I've only been seeing improvement! I'm so glad I decided to take on your recommendation. I do use it along with Paula's Choice 2% BHA liquid exfoliant for the areas on my face with texture and they work wonderfully! I trust you with my life Wayne!! Edit: I'm not on tretinoin, I'm prescribed adapalene for my acne but I definitely want to start tretinoin after I've cleared all my acne.

Excellent advice. Been using it for years. Discovered using on top of moisturiser works better for me (quite sensitive skin). Also, 3 days is plenty... for me. Definitely works for hyperpigmentation too. Skins so glowy now I’m thinking to change my preferred Dewy foundation to Matt. Finally...SUNSCREEN!

Awesome explanation! Especially the moisturizer! I just got back on Curology because they didn't have it in my state until recently. I'm so glad! Only at .05 but I'm happy with that for now. I'm building back up and I don't want the peels. Other people I know who are my age (61) and have hormonal breakouts have all had success with the Niacinamide added in. Mine has that and Azaleic Acid. You do not look 42. I'd give you early 30's. Good on you! Have a great rest of the week! ♥️

United Kingdom only. Search tretinoin or retin A on De Pop app to find me or other sellers of this product. I have been using this in my skincare routine since my early 30s and now in late 30s with no sign of a wrinkle yet. My pores are minimised and my skin texture is so smooth and glowy. Using this along with a good SPF will be your holy grail skincare products. I definitely recommend introducing a retin A / Tretinoin to your routine. In the UK you can buy from Dermatica at about £25 per month subscription or head to De Pop for a tube that lasts about 6 months which will cost less than £40. I have used Dermatica in the past and they are good sending the small tube each month on time and mixing the Tretinoin with other creams if your skin needs it (mines was tret plus a cream to lighten my freckles) however I found it was getting expensive for me. When I found another generic brand it worked out more affordable as more product in the tube which lasts me about 6 months so working out about £5 per month.

I’ve been using prescription tretinoin for 4 years and still was getting dry red flaky skin at the .05% active. I just subscribed to curology, I’m thinking a similar service, and they put me at the .1% mixed with other things. I was really nervous, but it’s been working beautifully! No more flaky skin and it looks great!

Been using tretinoin .05 on my face and neck for the last eight years and it literally stopped aging and its tracks. People always ask me how I do not age, and that is absolutely the answer. It’s the fountain of youth, and those who are not using it are missing out. You go through a phase of the “uglies” while your skin acclimates, but stick through it; it’s worth it! (And use sun protection if you are on this or it’s actually counterproductive

I've been using this for a couple of yrs now. At 35 I went through menopause and started getting acne breakout...I used to get compliments on my skin all time before menopause hit and then when I was prescribed this I couldn't deal with the flaking skin, makeup coming off with it but the moisturizer before and after sounds like my answer to this problem...thanks Wayne your videos are always so informative 👏 👍 👌

I'm 50 and have dealt with breakouts for the past 4 yrs. My derm said to only use a pea sized amount and use it over a moisturizer to help with dryness. She suggested a thicker one like Cerave. I've been doing this with good results for 4 yrs.

And well all the stuff that comes along with it but when my face started breaking out in a type of cystic acne I was so so depressed. So thanks again 😊

I have used it on an off for about 5 years now it’s strong stuff and not to be taken lightly. It’s correct when Wayne says start on low strength and build. I use a trusted Johnson and Johnson brand. I’m 2 years older than Wayne. One of the best things I’ve found for a guy especially to stay looking young is facial exercises every single day. Effects are rapid! Also a rich collagen based diet especially for women as collagen depletion comes earlier in women. So use tret exercise your face and incorporate extra collagen. Good luck

I just checked their website and they deliver to several other European countries as well. I will consider this, for sure. Having to go to the doctor, every time I need a prescription, sucks...and it’s not much cheaper than this, anyway. Tretinoin rules. Best cost-benefit skincare product, ever.

I've been using Tretinoin for 5 1/2 months, the .05% strength, and definitely recommend it. I could see a difference in my wrinkles after about 3 months and it continues to improve. I'm going up in strength next month, to the 0.1% with Niacinamide, so hope to see even better results. I haven't had issues with irritation from it except on my throat, where I don't think I'll even be able to use it, but that's ok as I mostly wanted it for my forehead, between my eyes and upper lip. At a guess I'd say in 5 months the wrinkles in those areas are half the depth that they were. I'm nearly 54 btw and my avatar photo was taken fairly recently.

Karen you could try differin or tazarac. I switched from retin a to differin for a year and my skin cleared up. I then switched to tazarac. You should ask your dermatologist about switching retinoids. I am no expert, this is just what I have experienced.

I agree. I've been using trentinoin for 3 years now and I do see a difference in my skin. I'm 56. It has helped with pigmentation, fine lines, and giving my skin some radiance ( for lack of a better phrase). These results show up over time. I guess I first started noticing about six months in. My skin is sensitive and I back down on the trentinoin strength in our New England winters. I think that I'm not chasing the fountain of youth, but trying to look my best at my age---what ever that number may be. My PM routine is the same as yours.

I put Vaseline around my eyes and creases of my nose to avoid irritation. Avoid getting tretinoin around your eyes at all costs! I also moisturize, wait around 20 mins, then put on tretinoin.

I use dermatica. I have acne prone skin, am 46 years old so obviously ageing skin is a concern and to top it off I have melasma from when I had my youngest baby. My dermatica prescription is 4% hydroquinone mixed with 0.5 tretinoin. My skin is transformed! It costs me £20 a month and is worth every penny.

2 things please please. I’ve been trying for a year to use tret with no success due to sensitivity. Dermatica sent me to this video which I’m going to try! Wayne, you darling, I’ve started in tretinoin and have been using it for 3 weeks. My face does feel burnt, not that I can see anything in the mirror. I started using it without buffering and every night. So last night I buffered before applying tretinoin and it has calmed everything down. My nose has peeled a little but the rest of my face is fine. I use dermatica and the 0.05% with niacinamide as I have very visible pores. Next month I think they send the ne t strength. Love that they check in with me to see how it’s going and £20 per month is soooo reasonable a cost. I really hope it works!

I have used Retin A (Trentinoin) .05% since I was 35. I clean my face with coconut oil and remove with a damp cloth. Then apply the Retin A. Every night. Took about 10 months to see results. I am 68. I look 45. No one has ever guessed my age over 50. I stay out of the sun. It really works! For most people they want fast and complicated skin care. This is so simple.

Differin Gel was RX, but now OTC in The States. It’s a synthetic retinol formulated for acne, but also helps wrinkles. It’s more gentle that Retin-A, but similar results.

I use Tretinoin 0.05 and I have gotten great benefit from it. The evening skincare routine that has worked best for me is to cleanse my face apply moisturizer (I use CeraVe PM) let it dry then apply the Tretinoin then go to bed. It’s a simple routine that has worked better for me than than the multiple steps I was dong before. If my skin starts feeling dry I use a moisturizing mask in the morning. I ALWAYS use sunscreen and wear a hat if it’s bright out. Simple and effective and frankly more affordable than multiple steps with expensive products.

I get mine off a lovely lady in England who is there for us too 24/7. As far as I know she delivers to most places. I've been on the 0.5 for almost a year and I only use it every other night. No dryness redness no reaction at all but my skin is a million times better than it used to be. Plus because I'm wary of getting dryness, it encourages me to use lots of hyaluronic acid and lovely moisturising essences each day so it's a win win. Definitely a keeper I've never looked back. Btw your lamp is super beautiful .. I went to see if I could buy it.. ouch that's a wee bit pricey 😆 XX

On their website it says they use adapalene and azelaic acid. Both of these can be bought over the counter and a ton of other companies try to sell these combinations through websites like you are using. You are getting ripped off. You can buy differin (adapalene) at the drugstore.

I’ve been using this for a year now, I would take one or 2 days off a week in the beginning, I get best results by putting the treatment on, & then a couple of hours later putting on a rich night cream. I have no flaking or side effects now. The company told me that the product would loose effectiveness if you kept it for over a month so you have to use a fresh one.

I did try their service not long ago. They claimed I got 1% tretinoin. I very much doubt that was the case. I soon after that got a 1% prescription tretinoin and it was night and day.

I got the strongest OTC Retinoid in US. I use it every other night and put on moisturizer after. I top it off with a hyaluronic acid lotion and my skin feels like velvet in am. SPF 30 or 50 everyday. I may try this after my skin can hack 7 days a week.

I started using adapalene a couple months ago and experienced hardly any side effects at all, now I'm using tret .05%. Still no side effects but it works A LOT quicker than adapalene.

I've been using tretinoin 0.05 for 3 months now. I started with 0.025. I can now use it every night. For me what the best is use it every other night for atleast 2 weeks and go 2 nights on 1 day off. Until you can use it every night. ❤️

What a darling you are Wayne. I’ve just registered with dermatica, they have suggested building up to 0.5 tretinoin over 3 months, and contains niacinamide. I had that ingredient in a dr nick Lowe radiance brightening cream, now discontinued.

@@Nevano12 I have to say, I gave it over 4 months, and although I'm aware it's a marathon not a sprint, there was no real change at all ☹ I kept the routine really simple - double-cleanse, followed by Dermatica, and then moisturiser (all with a gap in between following instructions) but there was no real difference. Worth a go though, and everyone's skin is different.

@@Nevano12 mainly for texture and oiliness problems on my forehead, and fine lines. I was hoping it might help with dealing with redness if I was only using one or two products and keeping my routine really simple, but that didn't change either. But then again, I've never found anything effective for redness.

Omg yey thank you for this video! I just got my mum started on Dermatica and I want to get on it as well. May I ask how often you reapply sunscreen throughout the day even if you are indoors and potentially not always close to a window? Also is it okay to apply cerave moisturiser after the tretinoin treatment as it contains hylauronic acid, ceramides and niacinamide? Or should you keep it simple and use a very basic moisturiser?

V M With prescription strength Tretinoin, it’s recommended, to clean, moisturize, wait for the skin to completely dry and then apply it. The moisturizer (and yes Cerave is fine) will not impede the effectiveness of the Tretinoin, but it will cut down on irritation. You can apply more moisturizer afterwards, if you want...but don’t skip the initial application.

I am so interested in this product. I had a horrific time using prescription tretinoin. My Derm started me on a moderate level dose and then I eventually did go down to the lowest prescription strength after the awful side effects. I had acne at the time, badly, but I followed all the steps and moisturized before and after application. It got so bad, I could not use white towels after washing my face because I was literally bleeding after cleansing. After my experience with tretinoin, being on the Isotretinoin (updated Accutane) was a walk in the park for me. I'd like to return to using tretinoin for it's overall benefits, and this sounds like something that might work for me. Also, love the washing off tip, I'd never thought of that and my Derm never suggested this to me. Thanks! :)

Thank you for explaining how beneficial prescription only Tretinoin is to skin compared to ANY OTC retinol. People don't talk about it enough because it's not a "quick fix" it's a product you use forever. I have been using 0.1% Tretinoin religiously for 17 years and can honestly say my skin looks looks better today than it did in my 20's. It's not a secret folks, it's just a product (along with others ) and routine you have to commit to.... for life!

I would start using today, but dedication for applying sunscreen around every 3 hours is preventing me from doing so. It is a HUGE commitment which I'm not willing make. Plus I have read tons of comments on how even the lowest dose of tretinoin caused some people loss of fat, wrinkles and sagging even they follow every instruction. Very terrifying. For me, vitamine A is a mystery. Nobody knows why it ruined some peoples skin, while others benefit from it. If anyone considering retinoids reading this, please don't skip the patch test and always wear sunscreen.
