This style of video is brilliant mate, so clear and informative. I upgraded to a 7950x3D but still run a 3090 and the game runs 'fine'. Need to save up for either a 40 series super or wait for a 50 series.. Thank you for this and keep doing things like it, your community will love it!
Thank you for the better understanding on TLOD and other graphics setting. For me personally, limiting fps via NCP to 30 fps combined with pre-rendered frames setting at 1 in NVI and Lossless Scaling FG2.1 gives me the smoothest 60 fps in MSFS i never had before. Even my older series GFX card RTX2070 Super is able to maintain fps above the 30 fps range, which means capping it down cuts down the load overall and together with FG it runs very smoothly with no (to maximum very few at heavy scenery) stutters.
I just ordered the RTX 4070 Super coming from the RTX 2070 Super... plus a new 4k gaming screen instead of an older 1080p Asus screen. I hope it will be a good result.
Great video thanks. After following your settings guide everything looks much sharper. To return the favour I would recommend the LG C series when you decide to upgrade your display. I use a C1 (I think they're up to C4 now) and its easily the best display I've ever used.
FWIW AMD users with 7000 series (I think?) GPUs have access to AMD's Fluid Motion Frames (FMF). It's not quite as good as Nvidia's Frame Gen, but I've been using it for a few months and if you can get a native 45-60fps, you can have a VERY smooth experience with 90-120fps displayed. Just need to enable it in the AMD Adrenaline Software.
@@adammPG AMD's FMF requires the sim to be in fullscreen (not borderless windowed either) on DX11 or DX12 with VSYNC *disabled*. Also worth noting that the in-game and Steam overlays do not display the generated frames in their FPS counters as well, much like AirNOTT demonstrated in his video here.
RDNA2 and RDNA3 can also use the Nukem mod (actually called DLSS enabler which based on Nukem mod). FSR3 FG is much better than AFMF as AFMF will turn off if the screen pans too fast.
Great Vid but my advice to all who are thinking of up-grading , ask your self why , is it because of your current fame rates and lagging,if so then the first thing you have to check is your internet speed and type of connection into the house , this can only be done accurately by contacting your service provider don't waste your money on upgrading until you establish your current connection internet status
Speaking of graphics settings, I decided to just have a mess with myne on a 4070ti super and a 7800x3d and I noticed the low settings just make the sim look like prepar3d lol they give you a smooth 60 no frame gen though lol🤣 awesome video I’m just doing testing myself for my own system.
Amazing Video. Question for you, with the new maxed out settings do you run any 3rd party apps along side (apart from PMDG737) and do they also impact or hit the FPS. e.g FS2CREW, AI Traffic etc
I'm struggling to find reliable info about framegen in VR... I only fly VR and as far as I understand, framegen for vr is called motion reprojection and the mod won't work...
turn on gsync. If you got a freesync monitor. turn it on and then turn gsync on in nvidia control panel. then the fg works flawless in the sim. with gsync I got a lot of stutters
I have this weird problem with DX12 and DLSS FG on, that my monitors a flickering. kind of hard to describe but did you have the same issue and if not any ideas on how to fix it? Btw great video :)
When i turn accelerated graphics on my computer and try to run frame gen, my performance drops and everything spikes in red. Not sure what the issue is there, running i7, RTX 4060 and 32GB. otherwise I'm DLSS/DLAA TLOD 250 at around 45-60 FPS with FPS counter on dev mode.
MSI afterburner shows the total fps by default. That’s the sims frames and nvidias frames combined. The sims built in frame counter (that was in the top right) can be enabled via the developer mode toolbar. You’ll need to enable developer mode in the settings to see it
I know this is a month old video already, and I hope I get a response. But I just upgraded to a 4070 and can finally use the DLSS Framegen. My performance is like nothing I have ever seen in 15 years of simming. However, I notice you don't have the ghosting and blurry screens which for me, is really killing the whole FG for me. How did you find a way to fix that?
Are you using frame gen + DLSS or TAA? I’ve noticed TAA + Frame Gen provides the best visuals, while any level of DLSS makes things just a bit blurry to my taste (running on a 3440x1440 monitor).
A PC is not required to run MSFS 2020. The Series X does a fantastic job as many real airline pilots will attest to. In fact, you will get more stutter running on the highest end PC than a Series X.
Yeah, no. Consoles have their pros and cons but ultimately PC is far superior for running this game. Far more compatible peripherals, a lot more 3rd party development is PC based with plenty of free and paid aircrafts and scenery. PC receives updates a lot sooner, for example the tablet in the PMDG 737 only recently got pushed to consoles. Vatsim is PC. Consoles still allow you to have fun and enjoy a beautiful game as a cheaper alternative and that's perfect for some.
