Thanks for this channel, Dr. Park. You are a fountain of knowledge, and your passion for health has had a direct impact on my life. I was diagnosed with UARS this past summer and this channel has helped me manage my symptoms, which are disabling. I'm strongly considering septo/ Trubo reduction. I've seen many terrific doctors, and only 1 even knew what UARS is. Thanks for speaking on diet, lifestyle, and vaccines as well. It takes courage to publicly make these claims, and you are speaking truth to power.
Thanks for the info. I assume you cannot do ALF appliance if you have had jaw surgery. A dentist had suggested to realign my teeth with candid aligners to have more room in front for tongue plus have tongue tie surgery.
Your history is so similar of mine, but i have both, UARS and OSA and both a very high level. With surgery i improved OSA but UARS hasnt and doesnt improve not even using CPAP, APAP o BiPAP, i feel miserable using the machine or without it.
I wish I could find a DR that REALLYT understands UARS/ sleep apnea. Is there a list of such anywhere. Also, did you say saw a dentist about your UARS?
Unfortunately, it's challenging to find doctors who understand what UARS is. The good news is that there are many doctors and dentists who treat UARS without knowing it. For example dentists who provide mandibular advancement devices for snoring and mild sleep apnea are also treating UARS. This is why someone who gets treated for snoring only may experience life-changing results. What I try to convey in my videos is to educate and empower people with UARS (and sleep apnea) to take responsibility for their own health and choose specialists for specific needs. For example, and ENT for nasal congestion and a dentist for mandibular advancement device or palatal expansion. I've come across many people like this who take control of their health and work with a team of doctors and various healthcare professionals. These people are the most successful. They also realize that first-level options such as diet changes, supplements, more sun exposure, or change in sleep position (while all important, and can be helpful), won't get them to the next level. UARS is fundamentally a structural problem (which I describe on this channel and in my book), and many will need more aggressive treatment options, including a combination of dental appliances and/or upper airway surgery.
My initial impression is that Dr. Park is a great example of how people are complicated and they can simultaneously be right about some things and wrong about others. This anti-vaccine stuff is probably bullshit. Vaccines are amazing and not using them widely would be one of the stupidest, if not *the* stupidest thing we could possibly do for public health. (Maybe not having clean drinking water would be worse?) I would also be very hesitant to remove fluoride from drinking water. Dental cavities are a huge problem and fluoride really helps to prevent them. On the other hand, UARS is a real thing and a big problem. So while Dr. Park is very smart and clearly knows a lot, I would take everything he says with a grain of salt. There are multiple red flags here.
It was due to a combination of ALF, nasal breathing optimization, a clean high-fat diet, good sleep hygiene, toxin elimination, and healthy levels of vitamin D through supplementation and lots of sunshine. There's never any one thing that cures UARS or sleep apnea. Everyone has different needs. Some people will need surgery.
