Can you make a video and tell us about all the different things that convinced you to get out? I got out in June of 2021. My old LPO told me to to think about if I would enjoy the job of senior enlisted. And it made me realize that I really wouldn’t. I’m using my GI Bill right now and so far it hasn’t given me too much trouble. I also decided not to bother with VA medical. It probably saved me from a lot of headaches.
Yo Kello, I'm soon to be a former VA employee because I'm enlisting in the Navy. Working in the system the training and instruction on how the process works is all over the place. Nobody communicates with eachother properly because phone numbers change constantly and people constantly jump up the pay scale so they're in and out of one job in a year, so you try calling that person or messaging them and turns out they don't work there anymore. Sometimes rules change weekly and it's hard to keep up. Not to mention every trying to get a hold of doctors. It is very rare that we can contact a doctor to fix something in a timely fashion. And if the doctor or staff member is a resident GOOD F*CKING LUCK WITH THAT because they have no idea how to write orders correctly and are impossible to message or call. The worst thing I've experienced at the VA is the lack of clarification on rules and policies. Nobody every really seems to know the reason for some of the rules or what they mean and management is so busy in meetings you don't get a chance to ask. That being said it may sound like I hated my job but I really like working for the VA. Has lots of benefits and excellent insurance options. But I will be leaving for the military to do something before I get too old to change my mind.
