My Very Used Kawai R-50 (Presets) 

Ahhh....the sound of my high school days. Those snares flash me straight back to 1988-89 They were all over everything on the charts, from Billy Idol to Bell Biv Devoe.

I bought this back in 1988, with a "Kawai K3". What a pair!!! I produced hundreds of songs with just the two and/or bass and guitar. Both are still in my setup even though I have newer (not, never better) gear. They were my first babies, I love them more... Kawai thank you for producing the true loves of my life.

I have the standard version of the R-50 (used it for several years, now mostly replaced by my Roland SP-606). The sounds of the "e"-version are a bit better in my opinion (more Simmons-like). There is also a very rare "Mk III" version of this machine. It combines the sounds of the two other machines and in addition it has 24 orchestral drum sounds. The preset patterns of the R-50 contain some famous beats, like "Don't you want me" from Human League and "True Blue" from Madonna.

I'm having trouble uploading Sysex to my R-50. I've tried slowing down transmit speed, etc. However, when R-50 is Receive Ready in MIDI menu it immediately states "Receive Error" when I try to send Sysex. Any advice?

we used to use one midi to an akai sampler (the kind with the cards) as our drummer/keys

I literally just rediscovered/ found this one while cleaning up my studio. Forgot all about it. Really should hook it up. The beat around 1.40 in the song really reminds me of the sound of The Way You Make Me Feel by Michael Jackson. Wouldn't be surprised if they used this one.

j'ai achete d'occasion un KAWAI-R50e qui me parrait convenable à l'ecoute de la video demo mais je n'ai pas le mode d'empoi d'autant plus que je suis novice dans ce genre . est que quelqu'un parmis vous pourrait me le faire parvenir en français et à sa convenance bien sur merci d'avance cordialement .Bernard Zanit
