@@Jz-iah kinda like the whole point of the gun is making personas more easy to summon by making the user feel they're in danger wich is why the evoker is gun shaped
@@grandmasteryoda2605 It takes a while to really grab you but when it does it does not let go. Reload is good cause it's modern, but for me at least when it comes to story and characters 3 doesn't hold a candle to 4
@@lxfenix 4 and 5 both have a much better story than 3, although I think it's because 3 was that transition between Shin Megami Tensei and modern Persona. I'm getting close to what I believe is the end of P3P (Wanted to play that before Reload just to see how it changes), and it really feels like a primitive version of the formula that 4 managed to figure out and 5 perfected.
@@moomer2675 Izanagi is GOD in the Kojiki. He´s the boss there, the father of all including the Japanese royal family. Same than in Greece is Zeus, Odin in Nordic countries or Shiva. So yeah in his religion he´s somehow the equivalent to the Christian God even if there are many other gods in his religion. You can see how in the game Yu acts like a father to everybody, how he take care of Nanako, how his jobs are related with children.. Even in the fox SL he´s doing "God´s job" making the wishes of the people who leave emas in the temple, true. And what do they say?: "God listened and helped me". Isn´t that proof enough? Izanagi is the life and Izanami the death. P4 mention God (singular, not "Gods") several times, even in the lyrics of the songs. In the P4G anime he has a scene where he floats in the sky and clouds in middle of the light like a holy figure which remarks his status. Stop trying to ignore the lore behind P4 just to make your fav to stand out.
"It's weird that there are two characters named Makoto" Hoo boy! Let me me tell ya! If you think that's weird, keep in mind Persona 2 alone had Tatsuya Suou, Katsuya Suou, Tatsuya Sudou, Tatsuzuo Sudou and Takuya! Two Makotos seems less and less weird the deeper down the rabbit hole you go😂
@@MonkeBrain07 Nah. That's much more simple tbh as besides P1,the anime names are the canon ones (even though I personally think Akira Kurusu is better than Ren Amamiya)
Whenever P6 comes out, I feel like Joker is gonna get his own cognitive echo boss and his description is gonna be “Rebellion: A special battle against the cognitive echo of a certain persona user who stopped humanity from succumbing to their selfish desires.”
To briefly explain a question without spoiling persona games, Igor selects a master of the fool arcana, which is always the player character, and the fool is able to wield multiple personas. There’s more lore than that, but that’s what you need to know for now. The fool arcana differs in purpose throughout the games but the role they have as the hero stays the same
JC Ive been a youtube viewer following your Persona Journey for the past year, I can't speak for everyone but I can certainly speak for myself when I say as a proud member of the VOD Squad, PLEASE..... IM JONESING FOR MORE PERSONA CONTENT.
Have fun with the side content cause we’re getting the Casino of Envy arc soon (fun fact: the whole only the protagonist having multiple personas AKA. The Wild Card started in persona 3, so Makoto Yuki (P3 Protag), Yu Narukami (P4 Protag), and Joker are the only three wild cards in the main Persona series past Persona 1 and 2)
Glad this vid is out since I missed that stream, but I was there for the end of arc 6 and let me tell you, I cannot wait to see that again in the next video. JC, you are not ready for how good this game is about to get! Also Satchel, you cooked HARD on this one, and it paid off, this vid is great!
I kinda like the amount of information they give you about the other protags in P5R. Like, you can’t really fugure out what the games are about but you recieve enough information to start wondering.
I've been playing through P3 Reload myself and lemme tell you, I am having a blast. It's more of a slow burn type of game where it really lets these big character moments and story beats breathe and...yes it is very much darker in tone (in case Makoto shooting himself wasn't subtle enough for ya). So yeah, I'd be so down for a P3 Reload playthrough. AND I wanna play P4 once I'm done with P3, cuz like you, I know very little about what happens in that game, other than the main group gets compared to Mystery Inc. from Scooby Doo, so I'm interested in that!
I wish you'd play Persona 3 Reload in the future. In my opinion it has the best soundtrack among the Persona games and has the best written characters individually. The story is also fantastic but maybe that's because I like P3's theme the most.
@@BelBelle468 Calling the gameplay bad seems kinda an overstatement, it's not just as good as P5R's gameplay. It's from a 2006 game so you can tell the dungeons in P3 are outdated in contrast to P5R, but the new content in Reload are definitely great additions and enhances the gameplay no doubt.
"Why does he do this?!" *Makes gun motion to head* He's using an Evoker to summon his Personas. They're not traditional firearms. Something about facing death allows you to draw your Persona out, and it's in keeping with the themes of death and depression in P3. And yeah, the power of the wild card is a thing for games 3 through 5 cause The Fool Tarot is 0, which is empty, but limitless possibilities in-universe. Also, yes, I would very much like to see you play P3 and P4. Just bare in mind that the games are harder than P5. especially the original versions.
I've been loving this playthrough so far. Managed to finally catch a few steams live towards the end of arc 6, and those steams were legendary. Thanks JC for finding time to play this massive game live and Satchel for making these well edited videos!
Definitely play Persona 3 Reload cause it's the remake of Persona 3 with Persona 5 style and gameplay improvement. Definitely my personal favourite game.
this video made me binge watch your entire persona series over the course of the past few days and i have to say your persona content is genuinely my favorite playthrough i’ve seen so far :D ur personality is so fun and i love seeing your blind reactions to the story… please please please consider playing p3re and p4g i would absolutely love to see your blind reactions to those
If you didn’t already know, the reason people call Yu a chad is because of the P4 anime, where he’s basically just a massive troll with chad energy and who is also the most effortlessly cool guy of the whole cast
I loved this, your reactions to the protags are so fun!! I really hope you end up giving Persona 4 Golden a chance, it's my personal favorite of the series :)
4:35 actually starting with Persona 3 all the protagonists have the Fool Arcana(Wild Card) and multiple personas is a unique trait to the Wild Card ability. After Persona 2 Philemon the avatar of the god of healing left the Velvet Room in the care of his attendant Igor. Igor grants those with the capacity the Wild Card ability.
7:55 I got so angry when I went the the wiki and discovered he (and Yu) has endure (when knocked down revives with 1 hp). I was also more angry since I was going for the max points, not it had to be a knockdown + batton pass.
Would love to watch you play persona 4 honestly! I think you would really vibe with that game despite it being older. You don't have to play in order either, p4 or p3 next would be fine! If you decide to play both, can I recommend PQ2? The Persona Q games are spin offs for the 3DS that combine the casts of each game. I played it before playing 3 or 4 and its really cool as an introduction to those characters. PQ is only p3 and p4, while PQ2 has P5 and the Female protagonist from p3p as well.
In short, the persona 3 cast use gadgets called evokers to forcefully draw out their personas. They are not naturally awakened to them as the Persona 5 and 4 cast are to them. There are two types of evokers: 1. The prototypes which draw out the full power of ones persona (Imagine the P5 cast starting with their maxed out awakened personas at lvl 1) which can be dangerous as the wielder has not naturally awakened to them or can handle such power at their current state which can cause the personas to go berserk and harm others, even the user (Thus the metaphor of shooting yourself, everytime someone with the prototype evoker summons their persona it's the same as playing russian roulette). 2. Then there's the upgraded model that can draw out only as much power as the user can currently handle, this makes the personas perfectly manageable however they are severely weakened in order to be controllable.
JCbackfire! Good job! I hope you are finding this game to be very fun! I’m really happy to watch you play this game! Please if it’s not too much play the whole thing! I really enjoy watching you play! It’s fun to see people like and play the games and things that I also like! Also, you are teaching me a lot about this game. I will most definitely play better by watching you! Here’s to the huge growing success to your channel 🍻! Onward To 1,000,000 subscribers +!
Love how the video starts with the editor just leaving a little message for all of us just for the video to start with a classic JC "This reminds me of-"
@@kaankonur6429 Yeah it's more related to charisma. The "chadness" comes mainly from the anime. But I think being charismatic is more important than being cool
JC, I would watch all of your Persona content. (Everyone agrees) Your gameplay and reaction to it is so fun to watch. My brother, you are funny as hell!!
I feel like the self headshot in P5R is smoother than in P3R. Or maybe because he's an enemy here. Love reach out to the truth as long as you don't search the lyrics. He's Chad Narukami because he's a chad. He's like the big bro of Persona.
It’s cuz the shot is meant to resemble P3, and not reload. Reload covers up bringing the gun to the head w/ the UI. In the OG game, you see him pull out the gun each time. Did you ever play PQ2 and see Ren (P5) call Yu (P4) “big bro”? He gets excited for a second lol
Super cool seeing your reaction to the other protagonists! When you finish p5 it will be super cool to keep playing the other games in the series since they are all so different
Before seeing some clips on p3r all I knew from p4 is that it's the yellow one and all I knew from p3 is that it's the blue one where you shoot yourself
Yu Narukami - The absolute chad who's basically a highschool private investigator. Makoto Yuki - The edgy kid who slowly learns to care for his friends. Ren Amamiya - The snarky Joker.
Every Persona protag are Wildcard that why they can use multiple Persona. Believe it or not the reason why Makoto can use multiple Persona is make more sense than Joker.
To answer the question about Makoto's persona summoning method (P3 protag), is that the game's main theme is accepting and facing your mortality + he's depressed. The evokers are used to summon their Personas because they come out when they feel like they feel like they're going to die (or have an adrenaline rush, cant remember) and they're gun design issues to mimic that feeling. The best way to describe P4 is JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 4 Persona users that summon multiple personas are called wild cards and their powers come from the bonds they form. The more bonds, the more arcana they can access (but this is only in 3-5)
if you're gonna play P3, id recommend playing it, then watching the 4 movies, they're a really good adaptation and heavily flesh out Makoto's character
Great video, and can’t wait for Arc 6! Keep it up! Edit: Yes, we will watch you play Persona 3 ReLoad and Persona 4 (I would do Persona 3 ReLoad first).
I think it'd be interesting to see you play Revelations since all the characters from there can change personas? Limited cast, but hella interchangable personas anyway.
Dude, i swear whenever i saw "charge" on Persona 5, i would sacrifice someone to buff defense, guard with the rest of the team and pray lmao. * gets megidolaowned immediatly *
It's a hell of an experience being in the RECEIVING end of a charged Hassou Tobi, especially if you're familiar with the tactic and don't see it coming.
I would love to watch you play Persona 3 Reload! I know many people will tell you to play Persona 4 Golden, I'll probably be in the minority that wants to see P3R more than P4G, but I think that you'll enjoy it. Especially since you enjoy the story of a game, P3R has so much character story and one of the most well-regarded plots in the series.
As someone who put a ton of resources into making an OP Angel and Kikuri-Hime in the SMT MMO, I feel like I may have discovered a kindred spirit here and should probably watch your P5 playthrough lol
