@@chiaruzu Ye, men, but France was a Republic and had been under the Bonaparte Dynasty, so installing another Bourbon down the line is just disrespect xD
@@groadmiralinerika2540 I'm a monarchist so I wouldn't mind if a Bourbon came to power, my comment was because after the war of Spanish succession, France put a Bourbon on the Spanish throne, so this guy probably thinks Bourbon is a Spanish dynasty
@@chiaruzualthough the bourbons are French in origin, by the early 20th century they pretty much had assimilated into Spanish culture, as often happens with conquering elites that merge with the subjugated lands, plus there wasn't any of them in the French trone by that time, so they did pretty much become a Spanish house (with French roots). Also fun fact, to this day there is a cadet branch (the carlists) that claims both Spain and France as their subjects, with almost no support to be spoken of. Pretty hilarious stuff not gonna lie.
@@PrussiaAustriaConfederal Yeah the Germans developed a hatred towards the French (but not against their culture and ideas lmao) following the French occupation during the Napoleonic Wars. One of the reasons Bismarck wanted a war with France, apart from geopolitical ones, was to avenge the Battle of Jena-Auerstadt and the French occupation which had lasted from 1805 to 1813 (even 1794 if we include the Rhineland)
They were backstabber France literally gave away land to build trust and then they refused every claim France made after they received what they asked, it's stupid video since it's known that english speakers internet normies are against France since the 2001-2002
not at all lol they were loosing half of rio muni which is arguably the most important posession spain could get outta that, long guinea or just cameroon would've been perfect

@@amlking I guess so. A few differences I noticed was the Spanish Equatorial lands had more coastline, and there was an international zone not like the Congo “Free” State.
The fact that he was offered German backing in Morocco and a guaranteed colony in Equatorial Guinea but instead took France's wack ass deal is hilariously mind-boggling 😂
@@Alex-ds8xm I know. This conference doesn't seem to be too realistic, nor is it really about whether or not the nation can keep hold of its colony. For example, Italy laid claim to Abyssinia in the video, but they probably would have still failed in taking it over. The conference is more about each colonial power making sure that other powers respect their claimed territory and discuss over disputes. However, to me it is clear the Spanish player doesn't really know what to claim and what to hold on to. With hindsight, he should have maintained the Rif [ or at least Spain's modern day boarder with Morocco ] and traded Moroccan influence for French Congo and Gabon. If France remained stubborn [ which he will ], Germany could have backed Spain up. Britain would have as well. Missed oppotunity but hey! We all make mistakes.
I got to love how France throws an absolute tantrum over not getting “Sahara territory that doesn’t matter.” By the way the majority of Darfur is Sahel or sub Sahara. So then makes up some reasoning why the Spanish player betrayed him even though Spain gave them practically all of Western Africa for free
@@footballkorvendavid1092 sadly they aren’t allowed to renegotiate previous regions I believe once moving on. But I hope Spain can get a happy ending. Spanish Congo?

Bro France complaining about the “balance of power” being skewed in Germany’s favour in Cameroon when he owns basically all of west and North Africa. Okay France.

Territory without access, the indigenous demography to exploit it or an allogenic one to colonize it in the eventual case of ressources being present there isn’t more power to the balance. Moreover one would argue the new subjects would but that only in the situation where they can be useful, faithful or wick (which you would guess reforms the field of uses they would be destined to). To say this isn’t necessarily nonsensical especially when a good chunk of that territory is Sahara.
… AAAND I was correct in my assumptions that France was greedy in the last video. Bro wanted ALL of Frances IRL claims in africa despite the fact that multiple times IRL these demands were rejected.
The problem is that all the others are not and just being slow and uninterested like they are playing a fantasy board game with no consequences so the result is uninteresting only France is fighting for it's interest while the others are just following who ever is against France without any thinking of the consequences for themselves.

You were the only one actually negotiating, all the other players were so passive and couldn’t think ahead to save their lives. Like why would Spain not speak up on your behalf in Darfur when that could have helped them get Cameroon with your backing? Why would Britain not support you in Cameroon in return for your support for their Cape-to-Cairo plans? It made no sense, you were the real mvp here lol

I feel like at this rate the French representative is just being so incredibly, aggressively, assertive the other powers will be willing to back proposals that go against him out of annoyance/spite 😆
Thing is Madagascar is pretty much the only thing France has any claim on left, and they already have their Djibouti deal with Austria for an east coast naval port. Mostly at this point there is little the other delegates can do to screw with France while France can be obstructionist to everybody else's goals with support.
Feels like Germany and Spain lost the script here that they'd rather be petty instead of compromise and let Spain have some of the South in exchange for some for some the northern coastline. Also yeah France was totally right that GB was being petty over a part of land that isn't even that connected to their holdings.
@@clonecommanderrex8542 He described it as useless to the UK, which it was/is needing to cross the Sahara or go further south and loop back up. Plus its linked to the territory France already had geographically better. Basically it was everybody else making a stink about France having a bunch of the map even if that is empty desert nothing.
@@breadcat0469 The French side straddles the end of the Sahara, meaning its a lot easier to link it to Central and Western Africa than build a road or rail network across the Sahara. The territory was also something the UK could easily have sacrificed for their Cape to Cairo ambitions. Meanwhile for Germany and Spain we saw how well backing the UK here turned out where without France they couldn't make their own territory exchange work.
What's with the Thumbnail change?? Originally it was Bismarck and the African continent with some French colored colonies now its just the Soanish Flag on a African Colony
France has been far too greedy and is acting like he’s being treated unfairly when in fact he’s gotten slightly more land than France got IRL and if he continues to try to bully the other European powers, despite being only the third strongest I doubt it will go well for him and I hope that Germany and Britain use his belligerence to gain more control over what’s left of Africa.
The player for France already got all the land he needed and/or wanted, with the exception of being cheated of northern Gabon. No one is going to steal Madagascar now. He'll be fine.
@@Saint_Edward_987 considering how he blew up and pretty much turned most of the Congress it seems against him as well as the fact that he’s gotten quite a bit of territory. It’s likely that many great powers would oppose any more territory for him especially after his tantrum over Sudan he’s likely going to continue to push for more as he seems very agitated and he’s definitely going to overplay his hand and lead to him not getting more land.
