So far, Germany has stood down on various occasions, therefore they could claim the Congo and it wouldn't even be an outrageous claim. Also at last, there are ressources in contrast to the desert that is Namibia on which they backed down. Loving this series so far! PS: France throwing tantrums is a meme at this point :D
it is reasonable for Germany to get the Congo but I'm rooting against them because they're too friendly with the UK and I want to put a check on their power
@@delano4526 yet the problem is, that the balance of power is not yet reached.. arguably the gains of minor nation helps, yet Germany seems "weak" in contrast to GB and FR.
To be honest Namibia is useless anyway. Them being kicked out of Namibia makes it easier for them to claim the Congo. If they’re able to do that then that alone is better then what they got in real life.
Man this was such a France gets revenge on Germany episode, by supporting the minor powers. Meanwhile GB just fumbles the ball on their Cape to Cairo ambitions, by both them and Portugal refusing to do the simple solution of have the strip of land around the Cape to Cairo and Portugal's railroad from east to west being a strip of land held in joint.
Yeah and they will probably get it because Britain will do anything in its power to stop the people who interfered with Cape to Cairo and Portugal can probably be pushed into voting for it
Germany almost got it in real life. Belgium isn’t going to be able to press their claim their, France won’t get it due to the British. I think Germany might be in for a W.
Gonna say I really appreciate the french player Everyone's upset at him but frankly I find him such a joy to watch, its like seeing a high-pitched Napoleon! Made things a lot more fun
France just rallying minor powers to mess with Germany and Britain is funny ngl. They need to bring in Austria and Russia with little port or resource rights concessions and such. Just pool those votes with the Ottomans, Italians, Belgians, etc 😂
i don’t know why people take so much issue with how France is acting in this event. You’re supposed to act within the best interests of your country and gain the most valuable land, that’s literally the point of the event.
I would’ve proposed an Anglo-Portuguese autonomous zone of the disputed territory that allows economic access for both nations to connect their colonies. Short of an autonomous zone, my alternative offer is Britain and Portugal allowing a mutual third party to govern the disputed territory they both agree would be fair and impartial in trading rights and access to infrastructure.
I neuer thought I would ever hate Belgium so much over Namibia. The border gore is killing me, personally I hope in a Part 2 of this Berlin conference a German British alliance could over power the allies and give better borders towards our real world
Britain and Germany should split Congo with the German half connecting to Cameroon plus the coast and the British half for the construction of Cape to Cairo railroad.
Bravo man, you expanded my proud country of BELGIVM a little bit ! (And try to negociate us a bit of land in Congo ! I think Stanley's expeditions into Congo already happened so you could theorically have small claims into the area ! Verify this on Wikipedia)
The UK is so cringe i remember him literally denying france first proposal which was literally useless land, and here he is… literally claiming useless land. (When he asked to split part of Libya)
Bro that’s what they got in real life it’s just extending their borders until they meet ottoman borders it’s not infringing of territorial claims like France was in Sudan.
@@delano4526 everyone "ganged up on him" yet somehow he just happened to end up with almost the entire west section of the continent, in a conference. Sounds more like they got tired of his choosing beggar style.
@@calste85dude they literally start with all the land they have in west africa. They have received far less compared to the rest of the great powers and about as much as the minor powers. If i were France i would be insulted that the great powers were not treating my country with respect or enough seriousness. I mean look at the facts, every single concession France tried to gain was contested or rejected by either germany or the uk. Which i think is incredibly unrealistic due to the good relations between the french and brits, and the horrible relations between german and the either 2 powers at the time. If this were real life, theres no shot France isnt declaring war on someone because of this.
Portugal should have taken a free passage agreement or at most some form of joint ownership, Britain has administrative ownership but Portuguese have full benefits in the region. They're centuries old allies ffs.
Germany would need to allow the UK to have colonies or something running through the Great Lakes the towards Botswana and Zimbabwe. If France offers that first and then gives small nations random provinces then they might be able to annoy the Germans (the ultimate victory)
For some reason, I like the idea of Italy owning barely 2 or 3 big colonies and the rest of its posessions being random cities across the coast line All boats lead to Rome
What they got was pretty much what they historically controlled of Libya until the 1920s when the Kingdom of Italy began the erradication of desert fighters that still harrased italian settlements and proyects in the region.
make a video if the Treaty of Tordesillas was not made and all of South America was Portuguese as was foreseen in the previous treaty or if Spain never unified. if it is the 2nd idea: Portugal conquers Galicia when the mother of the King of Portugal, Queen of Galicia, dies
