Audrey, I just love your collection, especially the WWII sweetheart editions. I can totally relate to your love for the 40ies, a time when your grandmama was a young woman. I'd like to tell you something: I live in Austria close to the border to Italy, and one of the major frontlines of WWI went just right through my area. In WWII there was no front here, but a lot of bombing and airraids. My grandmama was born in 1930 and therefore a young girl during the war. She told me that as opposed to the US makeup and fashion did not exist here at all during wartime, people were poor and just trying to survive. The 40ies that you love so much are the 50ies in Europe. The late 40ies here were dedicated to cleaning up the bomb debris, all done by women because the men were either dead or traumatized. Sorry, got a bit too graphic there. But when the 50ies came along they brought with them glamour, hope, prosperity and a newly piqued interest in fashion, style and makeup.This is the time my grandmama got married and started her life, so this is as well the vintage period I am mostly fascinated by. Thanks for sharing your beautiful collection - it is truly heartwarming.

Loved seeing your compacts. I am 68 and I have my great grandma's compact which is brass and green enamel that still has powder in it, and I have one of my grandmother's as well. I have a 1960s box of Maybelline cake mascara that my mother used. I love my grandma's compact because it smells like she did still. Thanks for sharing all your pretty things with all of us.

These compacts were so beautiful. Every single one was a work of art. Not like the plastic stuff we get nowadays. I enjoyed all the history you shared as well. I still use some of Max Factor's products BTW. Thanks again for giving us a peek into one of your passions!

What a great video. I used to love hearing my gran’s stories about Second World War. She was in the WRENS and my grandpa was a fighter pilot, both for the British Army. She was stationed in Egypt. They then moved to Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) after the war and we are all Zimbabwean born and bread now. I love the history. I too love anything vintage.

Great and intrusting présentation. I 'll thank you for it I remember when I was a little girl (born in 68) my grand mother give me a kiss before I go to school. She had the smell of the old make up done with Rice powder. It's a nice souvenir to me. A smell I will never find anywhere else Kisses from Brussels 💋

The only compact I wish I had was one that belonged to my grandmother who passed when I was a kid in the 80s. It was solid gold with accents in rubies. I only remember it because she used to let me play dress up with it!! Can you imagine?? 😂

I so enjoyed this, you certainly have a lot of knowledge about the history of makeup I don't wear a lot of makeup, just mascara and eyeliner. Sometimes a little eyeshadow. This was certainly interesting to me, I enjoyed it tremendously ❤🙏🏽🌹 I would love to learn more about makeup and possibly the proper way to apply it because it is a little intimidating to me😊 Thanks for sharing ❣️

Wow how interesting ❤ & the items look like such high quality & initiative. Nothings made like that any more. I love Erin as well she's so talented isn't she & she has some lovely pieces. Do show more if you have it. There's a brand called tropics who make refillable compacts like that. You can't buy it in the shops & it is slightly more expensive but the products she makes are amazing. Anyway thanks for sharing. So did you not live with Yr mum growing up?
