my vinyl record collection is a mess... so let's organise it 

Always love watching someone organise their collection!

I reorganize like once a year. At my age you just remember where things are even all mixed up.

It is fun to organize but it would take me a month. I am now doing sections for my Jazz reissues by the label Analogue Productions, Blue Note etc.😊

I've divided my collection into four sections: Danish, German (I grew up ten miles from the Danish/German border), International incl. French and Italian, and jazz. Each in alphabetical order.

I organize mine by decade groups and then alphabetically. It’s the only way i haven’t lost my mind trying to find stuff. 😊

I've probably made a comment like this in all your previous reorganization videos but here goes again... My technique. By genre and in alphabetical order. I have albums, cassettes and CDs organized like that and 45s in chronological order. I did the 45s that way for making mix CDs. If I want to make a 70s punk CD they're easy to find. 50s doo wop, 90s twee, whatever. Have fun organizing and reorganizing. It gives you the opportunity to handle your records and that's always fun to do! Also it gives everyone a hint as to how your brain works...and we can all become concerned!

It’s cool how Australia has their own pressings. Like I know Stiff Little Fingers inflammable material has an OG Australian pressing, for instance

😆 I gave up at about 02.40 minutes because her indecisiveness was doing my head in.

It is a cohesive collection of songs used to tell a bigger theme or project an overall vibe. Think of an album as a book. And your songs as chapters. Every book has chapters. Every album has songs. Each chapter is different. Each song is different. But the collection of chapters (the collection of songs) is what tells the full story of the book (of the album) 💿. Usually the songs on an album are the result of an artist's creations during a season of life. This means the songs can all speak to a similar set of themes, ideas and topics. So the aim of an album name is to try and sum up the big story/concept that all the songs pull from when they were written. It's not always like these, especially today. But traditionally, an album is like a "book" with the songs inside being like "chapters."

Years ago I tried to organise my records by genre - but I often couldn't find what I was looking for because I couldn't remember what genre I'd filed it under.

this movie is like - its a mess its a mess, its even a bigger mess and at the end it looks really nice hahaha.. great job en well done! i do the same, on genre but within the genre it is indeed alfabetical as you say so at the end. you need more prog for sure hahaha,, try listening to genesis some day, albums like - nursery crime or selling england by the pound, i bet your dad has them most likely. nice video again, keep up the good work and have a nice holiday soon. aaa this was so fun and calming to watch. i have been thinking of maybe organizing by genre but its sooo hard bcs is it pop or rock does it go in electronic or smth else like aaaa😭😭

I'm intersted about the Aussie editions. In my vinyl collection I only found the Springsteen live box set and my countryman Michael Monroe's Not Fakin' It. Do they still press vinyls in Australia?

I order my music by artist and in release order. Nice collection you have there.

It dosen’t matter how you say it if an album total 🟰 duration is about 29:25 and it has about 10 chapters it would considered a mini book 📕 📖 📚 but an album that has 8 chapters and the total 🟰 duration is about 49:37 it would consider as a full book 📖 📕 📚 to me it dosen’t matter how long or short the albums are but in my preference albums are books 📖 📚 📕.

Maybe you are making this too complicated for yourself. It’s okay to make your Jazz a separate section in alphabetical order. All your other records just put in alphabetical order. You already know the albums from Australian artists and the other albums you know what category they are in so the purpose is to just be able to find the record you are looking for. Check your emails from me😊
