I was very fortunate to be able to visit the wonderful city of Marseille! It happens to be the city featured in one of my favorite books, The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas. I hope you enjoy the footage of my visit.

Marseilles is where Zarafa’s, the young African giraffe, arrived in Europe in 1826 and preceded to walk the long journey to Paris to be presented to the King of France Charles X. To this day, there are still roads throughout France named after her. She survived 17 years and was the toast of Paris, as was her handler.

That is amazing!! The had a story about a rhinoceros at chateau dif. It was left on the island when the ship carrying it ran into trouble 🤣

Very cool trip! I felt claustrophobic just watching you walk through the building. I can’t imagine being locked up in one of those cells. *shivers*

Nice to see you in Marseille! It's really nice to see the footage! I've not been in Marseille or Paris much, my family and I prefer the smaller villages rather than big cities usually. Oh wow the mirror thing had me so confused at first haha. Yay for the Chateau! Yum icecream. I loved seeing the boat trip over the sea. Really nice to see the Chateau as well!!

The beach was incredible. We would have swam if we had the gear and if it wasn’t so windy. I really wanted to go kayaking but it just didn’t happen 😕

Very much so! I would imagine there are lower levels that we couldn’t go to in it. I can’t believe people visited it when there were still prisoners there! 😳

Cool! What a great trip. It's so great to be able to tour old structures like this. In Rome I went into an old fort/castle and it was so fun. Marseille looks beautiful!

There is a kiosk at the marina. It is huge and very easy to find. They have ferries almost every hour. Enjoy Marseille! It is a lovely city

I don’t remember any age restrictions. I would recommend some good walking shoes. It is pretty uneven in places
