The trick to avoid matting is to comb the hair out before shampooing. The only time you don’t comb before shampooing is if you have gel, holding spray or some other product in the hair that makes the hair hard. If so just wet it and proceed to shampoo.
Beautiful hair on a beautiful woman... I envy those who can wash their hair without having to braid in sections first, if I wash my hair in leave outs like this, imma be bald In less than 2 months lol
Girl, the trick is to blow out after washing. I have thick 4c hair used to use multiple parts but since blow drying my hair after wash day, proceeding wash days are much more enjoyable
Is your hair as long as hers? I would assume because of the weight and length, it's not detrimental for her to wash her hair loose. With shorter hair though, it's definitely better to wash in sections.
@@LethalLemonLime no my hair is shoulder length. When it was longer I washed it in sections but i later found out it was because my ends were bad so wash day was more difficult. Tbh the type of shampoo / consistency with washing has also played a huge role for me.
Some sulfate free can be extremely stripping e.g. Aunt Jackie's Powerwash! I use VO5 Kiwi Lime Squeeze and African Pride Moisture Miracle Shampoo: one is sulfate-free while the other has mild sulfate but these are extremely moisturising and you can even finger detangle. Tresemme Botanique Riche also has mild sulfate but is very moisturising as well.
@@uberhaute_naturalz84 the Kiwi Lime is so good but is it sulfate free? I know it clarifies and makes hair so shiny! I also like TMC Guava Minty shampoo!
@@prettystreetchic it's not sulfate-free but it has conditioning ingredients that give it incredible slip. It doesn't strip the hair completely but cleanses very well.
I’d suggest redken clarifying shampoo for the first wash, possibly second if you need to remove buildup and leave it on for 5 min. Also washing your hair once a week would help keep it hydrated and have less buildup. Also redken acidic bonding line, redken all soft, pureology hydrate, pureology nanoworks gold work amazing. Amika soul food mask is nice too.
That L'Oreal conditioner detangler that you used is absolutely amazing and I bought it and I was using it every time I washed which was once a week and something bad happened... it made my hair feel like Silk but I noticed there was no shine..my hair started getting in worse condition, rough n knotty..anyway I went to my normal Salon to get my hair colored and she wanted to know what I did to my hair she said there was a heavy coating of something on it and she almost could not color it! It was the L'Oreal! I had over proteined my hair and also it left heavy waxy coating! Now i can only use once a month
Yes, you definitely have to be careful with the proteins!! And I know some people are protein sensitive. Glad you and your stylist were able to figure that out! It’s sooo good though.
I love a simple routine and wash days 😄 Your hair is beautiful and I love it and what you're doing to it. As regards the matting, it is normal because of our hair type so, you can work in sections with clips. Keep up the good work dearie. You've inspired so many💖💖
1st of all a lazy natural is me. I don't wash my hair until I really have to, so maybe 2 months most times and my hair is long now because I can't be bothered so I leave it alone for the most part
Girl I understand you I am a college student. I have my hair in braids for 2 months now but I washed it in the braids. Now I am gonna take down and redo. My hair is at my collar and i still can't be bothered. Too much stress.
I feel you…I typically wear my hair in a wash and go or a bun that last several days. I just tie it up in a scarf and bonnet. I don’t always put oil in it unless it’s in a wash and go. Maybe I’ll do a week in my hair routine (thanks for the inspo). Oh no! It works so well for me and my daughter. Hope you found something that works well for you - it gets expensive, but I love trying out different products.
That's so crazy that the Camille shampoo works for you because they changed the formula on that and it mattes my hair like crazy lol. I'm glad the new formula works for you though :D.
Thank you! 🤎🤍 I would say a combination of many things: keeping hair moisturized and trimming split ends. I do not put heat on my hair often. Deep conditioning pretty much every wash day. Protein treatments for weak or damaged hair. Satin pillowcase. Oils for the hair and scalp. To name a few lol
Absolutely, especially doing it excessively and leaving the style in that bun for days. Also, using tight hair ties instead of satin ones can be damaging. Btw…typing all of that as I have a bun in my hair from the past few days. I’ll go ahead and take this as a sign that the hair gods want me to take the bun down 🫥
You have high porosity you need a protein treatment mama a real intense one try aphogee protein treatment only do the treatment once every 6 weeks you’ll thank me later you also have to use a clarifying shampoo before apply the treatment or it won’t stick to the hair shaft like it should because the build up
Thanks for the suggestion!! 🫶🏾 I’ve been using aphogee on my and my daughter’s hair for a little while. I’ve done a couple since this video - she hates the smell and how sticky and stiff it makes her hair lol. But that conditioner afterwards. 🙌🏾🙌🏾
Yes, I definitely dibbled and dabbled in the creamy crack for years. Watch my hair journey video - you’ll see my progression from short and thin to long hair.
I started using neem oil and fenugreek seeds that I placed in other carrier oils a while back. I DO NOT care for the smell but I think using them consistently work.
I believe the curl type is mostly 3c. People have also suggested 4a, 4b. I’ve also been trying out the porosity test which I’ll have in a video coming this week!
Not sure exactly what you mean, but I have been natural since 2012 and I big chopped in 2014. I have a hair journey video with pics on my channel if you want to check it out!
This was a really good video. I’m in love with my ‘undesirable’ hair and it’s been an emancipating journey that continues! I must mention, I was struggling to hear you over the music quite a bit.
