@@Spazik86 No...1st the band is disconnected from the case, then placed on a ''dop" a flat wooden plack/board with pre-heated shellac, once it hardens, it holds the bracelet secure, then the holes are pre-punched; so that when the drilling begins, they are properly spaced, once drilled, the holes are usually smaller than the diamonds to be set; then using a round drilling bur the holes are prepped, then a bezel bur is used to set the depth of the stones. Once all the holes are prepped, the setting begins, a diamonds is placed into the drill holes and pushed down firmly but gently with a copper and wood "pusher" the wood handle is round and fits into the palm, the copper wire tip holds the small diamonds with a small amount of beeswax. Then using a setting knife the gold is pushed over the diamond "'girdle"(diameter) on 4 corners. This is done to all the diamonds; once all the diamonds are set, then the "cleaning" begins.(the gold is cut from between each bead previously pushed over the diamond's diameter.) Then finally a "cup burr" is used to round out the beads giving it a nice round and proportioned "bead"...No Glue is ever used; the gold is what keeps the diamonds in...the bracelet then gets boiled with caustic soda in water to remove any shellac that may have stuck to the bracelet, then its repeated for the case......BUT there its complicated because the mechanisms must be removed.....before setting and boiling.....

It's not so much about the quality of diamonds, but about originality (ie made by the factory and not modified). Rolex only hold value when in original condition with complete paperwork

Mr G I was hoping you would say ‘origin’ instead of originality. Diamonds itself are expensive. Part relies on quality, and part on origin. You get diamonds from a documented source and certify them, diamonds are worth an incredible amount of money more than uncertified ones.

Obviously, Rolex’s source for the diamonds guarantees astonishing quality and durability. Must be very expensive then.

Good hobby, not good investment. If you go to any coin show you'll see most of the people there are in their 60s or more. Almost no young adults or kids collect coins anymore. They've never been good investments, but it's a dying collector's market making for declining values in 20 years. That said, I'm a coin collector mainly for the artistry.
