Salt Lake City-native Robert filmed this video on Father's Day, which also happens to be his son's birthday. Back in 2016, Robert was excited for the Seiko Turtle re-release and decided to get the SRP777 for his forthcoming child. Since then, he's worn it for all the major events in his son's life. The watch means a lot to Robert, and he hopes it will have the same meaning for his son someday.

I guess this one counts like a genuine future birth year special gift. Especially how iconic this is expected to be in twenty years. I would've been over the moon had my dad decided to buy a 1978 (Seiko) timepiece and keep it in his drawer for me till 1998. This is how special stories are associated with watches.

I'm also 1984 LDS guy with a bunch of kids who wear Seikos. My 11 year old wears a SKX007 and 9 year old wears a SNK809.

I think its the Uncle Seiko Z199 Jubile. Got the same for my and its a great strap. Polish of the bracelet though is slight different from the original Seiko jubile but it still is an awesome addition to the turtle. But careful, it is very close to the original version from Seiko in the 70´s so we talking hollow end links and stamped clasp here.

Get a watch if you like it. No need to tie significant moments to watches to justify a purchase. Not the same thing as "wow this very watch was worn on the moon..." Plus a 20 year old seiko someday ....get a new watch for the kid at that point.

So? Rules were thrown outta the window when people began wearing apple watches with formal attire. If apple watches can be worn like that, a REAL, vintage looking, substantial watch can be worn formally. And James Bond wore one.

@@troll2637 I’ve always thought it odd that a British spy would wear a British Military issue watch, with a British Regiment watch strap! It’s surprising he lived to complete his first mission! But that’s the fantasy of theatre! 🙂
