I am a disabled Navy veteran who served 16.7 years in the military and just turned 56, a month ago… I feel like I’m trying to get my life back too. I took care of both of my elderly parents, till they passed and even with this, I feel there’s still more for me to do. My eldest sister was born in 1965, and at times we both feel “too old” but we have to remember we still have so much to offer. Your experience, wisdom, how you made it through life and so much more. You are an inspiration to the rest of us out here! Don’t let the younger generation tell you otherwise. I pray you will see yourself as a bright light, too. Many hugs and prayers from Florida.🌹
Hello, Tine. I appreciate you sharing us your short but felt the depth of your story. When I started this channel, I knew that it was meant for viewers with my similar state of mind. I have so much to share because I've been through a lot... :-) You, yourself and your sister who was '65 born are my motivation to my journey. Thank you so much!!
Hello Grace, I’m an old French woman and we live on opposite sides of the world . I agree with you : making our brain work every day is very important , learning new things is necessary for mental health . I like cooking but our recipes are vastly different with the same ingredients . Have a good day 😊
Im disabled from a stroke. I sympathise with your husband. I lost my way of life. I had to learn to let people do things for me. My youngest, my son has stayed with me. Your channel name is " living with Grace in Japan" thats perfect for you. That is what i see. Your Grace. God Bless you both. ❤
Hello, Debra. Thank you so much for watching and letting me know about you because of your time to comment. I hope you are well... and glad that you have your youngest with you at home. Hope to see you again here, Debra. Not for my desire to grow this channel but for sharing what is happening to us with the viewers.
Hi Grace thanks for the video, you will not get old soon you will get older gracefully. There is no doubt that things are difficult for you and your husband and my wife has no sight so we just do the best we can despite the restrictions as you do. I too was born in 1965 and as my birthday approaches I just try to enjoy the simple things in life. Look after yourselves and best wishes from England 🏴.
Hi Grace, We have so many things in common. I'm a Chinoy (born & grew up in Naga). MC Commercial along Gen. Luna St. was our store. For the past 40 yrs I've called Australia home. My wife is also vision impaired. Countless times we've visited Japan & still do. My son-in-law is a hafu. Like you my wife also loves cooking & gardening. You're an inspiration. Thank you.🙏😊
I’m a Pilipinas living in Japan too. I’m living for almost 33 yrs. My husband is a Japanese and have 3 sons. Eldsest is 32 he is an autistic child 2nd is 29 and youngest is 23. I found your vlog very interesting. Living in Japan is hard but interesting. God bless you po.
Thank you, Akiko san. Thank you also for sharing a bit of info about your family. I appreciate that so much. Yes, it is hard but we are doing well, right? Please take care of yourself.
Where does your unconditional love for your husband come from? The drive, love, and a little resignation of Filipino women are what give you energy. Wisdom and a positive attitude make you beautiful. Self-reflection and kindness are the secrets to your youth.
Hello, Sue. He did treat me well when he was healthy and strong. I did not worry for anything, almost everything. He's a good person so I am giving him back what he gave me, love and respect. Thank you for your comments. I deleted the 1st reply I had and here, I am giving you my elaborate reply on your question. Thanks for commenting and watching the video. - Grace
You got good sense of beautiful music. Old is how we think ourselves to be. Age is just a number. We r young in terms other things we fan do. Esp appreciation of nature like you do admiring the parks. Stay healthy
Thank you so much for appreciating my choices of music. Thank you for your time to comment and watching this video. Please do visit again. Yourself and other kind viewers motivate me to learn more so that I can make beautiful but authentic videos for this channel. Thank you.
Thanks for subscribing. It is sad to say that I am not missing the Philippines. Philippines is not a safe country for me and my husband. I shared that on my previous videos.
I love watching you videos. I really like the song you chose. "Folded at the Corner". I play the piano and I would like to learn it. You have great taste in music.
Thank you for sharing -loved it- cooking s good meal is hard work. You are doing a great job. I loved your thinking. As an older person from the US- your health is your gold as we age. Blessings❤
Konnichiwa . Taihen desuga gambate kudasai. Isa mo na po akong tagasubay at suporta sa iyong channel dito lang rin po ako kasalukuyan naninirahan sa japan
Thank you, Susan. Yes, because I can enjoy the sweet potato for snack better than any other junk snacks. Thank you for watching. Please come here again.
Grace, I don’t understand why you consider yourself old and forgotten at 65. Here in the U.S. 65 isn’t considered old at all. At that age they have just retired and are active enough to go to the gym, they go traveling, take hikes, have fun. Your circumstances hold you back but you’re not old. Don’t dwell on it so much or you’ll beat yourself down. Just a suggestion.
Grace we can't define old. Others do for us. Age is a number. I'm 69 and last year started a university course. I am graduating at the end of this year. You are amazing ❤
Thank you, Gabrielle. I was actually born in 1965 but feels like 70 already because of the condition but hopeful to live my life regardless of what hinders me to do so.
Grace, is there a place in your community where you can leave your husband for 5 hours to be taken care of so that you have some time to do things for yourself? You sound very isolated. Are there any other Filipino women in your town or gaijin Women that you could strike up a friendship with? Surely there must be an ikebana class somewhere around you. Just suggestions.
@@gabriellegibbons9236 , I appreciate your advices. Thank you so much, Gabrielle. There are two days in a week for my husband when he goes to an institution for the elderlies ( he is only 62 years old though ) where he will be bathe, feed and do exercises- a place called Day Service. We are supported. I look somehow isolated, true, but socially and physically, I am very much connected to this new place already with my neighbors.
@@yuiao4048, good price and just enough for me and my husband. Grated daikon is the best match. I give names to my viewers. May I give you a name "Yui" ?
