Hey Swoosh, I wanted to get here early enough to have the slightest chance that you see this. I wanna say thank you. Thank you for making these funny animations, and inspiring me to become an artist myself. I just recently started working on my first ever animation, and I can only thank you for being the motivation to do that. …oh my god my parents did this too! When I watched that movie I was basically traumatized so I stopped eating blueberries for a month and from that point on every single TIME I ate blueberries they would go like “ohhhhhh you’re turning blueeeeeeee!” and that’s not it… EVERY TIME I ATE TWO OF ONE FOOD (for example corn dogs) THEY WOULD DO THE SAME THING AND GO ALL LIKE “OHHHH YOUR TURNING [Color]” or on the will probably give me insecurities side “hey you’re looking kinda fat/plump have you been eating [food item]” And sometimes I thought they were being honest and I felt really hurt and it went to the extent where (be prepared for a long story) I was seven and I was going to Disneyland with my mean older sister, my two year old baby brother and of course, my parents! it was gonna be the best day ever but when we were about halfway there we found a face painter giving out face paints for free so my sister did the most DEVASTATING THING SHE COULD POSSIBLY DO TO ME… which was making the face painter paint my face blue and that’s exactly what happened. We were at kinda at Disneyland and we were getting out of the car and preparing for the journey ahead but then I was really hungry so I had no choice but to eat the blueberries we packed I had no idea what my face looked like because my sister told the face painter not to show me and as soon I ate a few blueberries she pulled out her mirror from the back of the car and showed me my horrifying blue face… I started screaming and crying on the ground waiting for my fate to come but of course it never did when she told me it was face paint I was so mad that (this actually happened) after I got off the first roller coaster I pretended to be sick and dizzy, and when she was about to go down the stairs… I BUMPED INTO HER and she went tumbling down the stairs and I GOT AWAY WITH IT So moral of the story: drink your school don’t do vegetables and kick your siblings down the stairs

The Johnny Depp Willy Wonka traumatized me for the same reason but with a different character. So my older sister (who was 14 at the time) would babysit us whenever our parents went out and one day we watched everybody’s favorite family movie: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I have never seen this movie before but I thoroughly enjoyed it as a seven year old. Then it got to the squirrel scene. Now at the time I was slowly losing my vision and would get my first pair of glasses the following year in third grade but for now I was a squinty second grader. This is important because when the little girl was swarmed by the squirrels and one of them was testing her to see if she was a “bad nut” I had no idea what was happening and started getting scared and asked my sister what was going on. Finding a good opportunity to prank me, she told me that the squirrels were eating her and were going to crack her head open like a nut. That went over as well as you can expect it. After obviously becoming hysterical crying at apparently witnessing death by squirrel, my sister changed the movie to a Disney movie but I was still inconsolable up to when our parents came home to deal with it. I WENT YEARS THINKING THAT A KID GOT EATEN BY SQUIRRELS. I don’t remember exactly when (maybe middle school) but I decided to rewatch the movie again when it came up as a rerun and I never felt more relieved and stupid that all the squirrels did was throw her down the trash chute and not saving her for dinner. Anyway that’s how the last time my sister was allowed to babysit went. Btw we’re completely cool and I’m slightly more emotionally stable 15 years later

I was scared of the Charlie and The Chocolate Factory scene too! I liked watching the movie when I was young, but I usually kept running out of the room when it started or just skipped it entirely. I could watch the 1971 film blueberry scene fine, cuz the effects were simpler and the tone was more silly (still kinda creeped me out a bit tho), but the 2005 one had more realistic effects, scary music, and it was just silent...no one spoke during that scene, you just heard the groaning sounds of Violet swelling up faster and faster. It was pretty horrifying, but the song after is a bop. I can watch both scenes fine now, but the fear of it possibly happening to me still lingers in the back of my mind...

Bruh I was scared of the blueberry scene from Johnny Depp Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as a kid too. I thought that the Oompa Loompas rolling her around was supposed to be them deliberately torturing her blueberried body and I thought it was TERRIFYING.
