There are no rules on patina trucks. I own several. Don't stress over paint color or dents. It's the history of the truck. You're the on the right trac. Keep up the good work.
Man I would love to have this truck, and bring it back to New Mexico. I’m not far from where this truck was originally sold. Diamond blue and dark blue interior, that’s a cool color combo. What a great find Matt!
Matt, use the white hood. There are those, me included, who love a old truck with such character to it. So many shiny things, it's nice to see how these good old highboys stood the tests they went through. Ford Trucks, the best never rest.
You know until you see the white hood on it, it was hard to tell. Looking forward to following this build. I have a Canadian built 72 highboy, and now want to look to see where the shocks are mounted and the trim under the hood.
Call it "The Diamond (Blue) in the Rough". The "git 'er goin' as-is" with another 360 seems to be the best plan. Also assume that the cab sticker matches the Marti Report. I'm surprised that it still has the frame mount spare tire carrier still on it. I've been looking for one since I got my '68 F250 (which originally had it as an option) 2+ years ago, but I can't find one up here in the Upper Midwest for love or money - and nobody repops them either.
Just put in a 360.....get it running, driving, and stopping safely. Don't worry about the hood. Let the next guy take it up to a higher level.....if he wants to. I'd probably just drive it, slowly fix it up a little as I go along......
I love the factory steel wheels and poverty hubcaps like the 67-72 trucks came out with, and my exception would be a 50's-mid 65 f2-f250 non split rim, and the dentside to brick and obs truck f250 steel wheels..
I love aluminum slot magnesium wheels and white spikes but id say overall my favorite are the factory steel wheels and poverty style hubcaps I've owned several gm square body trucks and no matter what wheels were on them when i got the truck they usually end up with the factory steel wheels and poverty style hubcaps. Or dogdish hubcaps if you prefer..
How about diamond in the rough for a project name being the condition of the truck and it is actually a really decent truck, and the truck is diamond blue?!
Id probably slightly cam upgrade the truck and fe 360 it, and rebuilt 2bbl and new ignition parts hood color doesn't stop you from driving it, so it would not be a concern for me..
Hey Matt! Thanks for the great job you’re doing on these trucks! It’s nice to know I can find somebody as sick as I am about these high boys. Do you know where there’s any bucket seat trucks? I have been looking for the chrome strip that holds the carpet Above the gas tank
Thanks! I have one but I’m not really looking to sell it. Probably not what you want to hear. I’m hanging on to that trim incase I have a need for it later because If I ever need it I’ll be like you and have a hard time coming up with some. I’ve seen the trim on eBay before. You will probably have to get lucky and find some.
I understand! Been looking for quite some time. Would you consider selling that to me? It would be for a really good cause😊 I am restoring a 68 bucket seat, Highboy. it would be going for a really cause. And good project! everything was there except for the molding. The side brackets were intact. Thank you Jeff .
Only bucket seat bump side Ford truck I've seen in several years is a truck i believe down south on Facebook marketplace it's a 70 Ford F-250 ranger XLT 2wd
It too would be a cool truck fixed up i know if it because i asked about the truck guy is not interested in second gen dodge ram trucks so he doesn't want to trade for my truck..oh well back to looking lol
So on a marti report if it says “stock” next to order type, that is the dealer ordering one for inventory? Does that mean if that if it only states dealer with no order type that it is a customer ordered truck?
It might mean that it’s unknown. the only 3 options I know of would be fleet, stock, or retail. Retail would be a customer ordered truck from my understanding.
Rare doesn’t anyway equal more valuable. I’m choosing to focus my restoration on the crew cabs. Also the 201 number is only with highboys so there are more when you include f-100s and all 2wd trucks.
I can’t let you have all the fun! Lol but no to make this all work I have to be able to create content and add value to trucks to be able to turn a profit and continue to do this.
@@richardbates2367thank you! Got it out of a field in Kansas a year ago November, not running. Just took a 2 hour drive there and 2 hours back this weekend. Very proud of Ol’ Blue!
Awesome don sir love that you saved it and made it run and drive again.. when these trucks were built Ford tough really meant something and i hope nobody expects them to have 2-5mph crash bumpers or they are about to have a really bad day...
