Shawl or blanket your hands and creative brain will make it a beautiful piece whether it graces your body or your bed it will be beautiful. Your ability to customize is amazing. mYak is my favorite wool. It’s a pleasure to knit with, I find so much joy with their yarns in my hands and on my body. If I could only have one yarn brand it would be mYak’s. All of their yarns are amazing.

I think that shawl as a blanket would be absolutely stunning!! And I smiled the entire time you were telling the story of your beloved sweater 🥹💕 I truly felt like I was watching and listening to a fairytale story being told to me. I could picture everything!! ❤ I’m so in love with this idea to recreate it. And now the new community that you are part of donated the yarn 💕 just like how you donated your sweater to your previous community

Martina, what a beautiful story, thank you for sharing ❤. How beautiful to have received a gift with a yarn that took you back to that time in your life, I love that😊. Your Lumme is simply amazing, really really beautiful and special. Before you mentioned having just purchased a knit blanket, I was all for the blanket - especially with the chill in your home!!! I guess it depends if you‘d like a self made blanket to snuggle under… because the shawl is equally lovely. My very first ever knitting project (after some very poorly made, embarrassing hats) was an enormous blanket. It is huge. I cannot remember now why I made it so large. I think it was just such a comforting project (and I had no idea at that time that I would become capable enough to make garments 😂) that I didn’t want to cast off. Anyway, I‘m now so glad I have it. We try to save on heating costs and this winter are using it as the coziest addition to our bed. It’s so cheerful to look at, and it provides added weight and warmth to our bed covers…. Have fun deciding😊.

Love all your self-made projects and stories. I vote for a blanket with your textured shawl. For a project called Welcome Blanket that collects handmade blankets for refugees in the US, I'm doing the exact idea you described. I'm using the Purl Soho free triangle wrap pattern until the triangle is wide enough, then decrease a stitch each row until it makes a square blanket.

I love the idea of your shawl turned into a blanket Martina. You could use as both! ❤

Martina your sweater story is beautiful and I can't wait to see how it takes form out of your hands 🤍 All of your projects are amazing as always, but there's something in your Lumme that is another level. It's you in a sweater 🤍💫

Thank you for another episode, Martina. The story of the pullover is wonderful and the new blueish wool as well, thank you for sharing. Brioche knitting needs much more wool....and is a lot of fun to knit I bought the Lanark pattern by Rebecca Clow, but aven`t started yet. Happy knitting from Germany

Lovely chat , Martina! Your pullover story is poignant ❤ Regarding the shawl, which looks absolutely gorgeous, I think you will know what to do when the time comes. You are such an intuitive knitter!! Your hands will guide you and whichever the option will be stunning 💫

Hi Martina, You don’t need a steamer to steamblock. If you have a regular iron and a wet teatowel you can very easily steamblock you sweater. Wet a teatowel, squeeze out excess water, lay over your sweater. Set your iron on the highest heat and press on the teatowel for a few seconds. Go over the entire surface of the garment like this.

All your projects look beautiful. I’m a very novice knitter but your work is quite inspirational. As for your shawl - I think it looks lovely as a shawl, but I’m sure either will look beautiful!

Either shawl , or blanket sounds nice. I guess it could come down to what you need more. A blanket, or a shawl.

To me a shawl sounds more useful than a square blanket, but the question is what you will have more use for. A lot of work and yarn for a blanket though…
