My Wonky Blocks

Hello ladies! Hope you can understand how I made these blocks. Let me know if you have any questions. I can also make a few of these blocks and put them together to show you how I put more than 2 together if you want.
Editing this to add an important instruction! The first piece I place, that middle piece, is always wrong side to the paper. After that the rest are all right sides together. That way they all open up correctly when you iron them back.
Also, the blocks I did were 6 inch squares when I started. The larger the square, the more fabric you can put in there. Which means even crazier blocks!

This block can also be done with a free style cut shape with 5 sides. A pentagon, or a triangle. a bit wonky. Then add a straight edge piece, right sides together and sew. Do the other 4 sides. Trim. No paper to pull. Use batting if desired. Or not.

I really like this tutorial ,it seems to be a great beginner tutorial .I saw some commented on you wasting fabric and I am sure that when you aren't trying to video ,You use smaller pieces.Glad that you gave us some tips ,Thank you

your voice and video are so confidence installing! The other day I watched a guy making blocks that were "awesome!" and "so rad!" and that's not in my quilting repertoire and stops me from trying. Your video makes me want to try what you're doing! Very clear and very inviting. Thank you.

Nice block. Beware! I have ruined two mats by ironing on them because of hurrying. Finally got smart and made a small pressing board with a scrap of quarter inch plywood covered with some leftover batting and muslin. works great! Just saying....

Great effect, think I’d put blocks together with an inch fabric to the edges of each block first. That will make a quilt top then add wadding and backing and quilt as normal. It will use a lot less thread

This is one of the best videos seriously ! Ty for taking the time to show us and help us learn to do this without buying tools ! I love this video and very fast and to the point ! I subscribed and was looking for more videos ! I am going to watch your weighted blanket videos ! That is interesting as well ! I’m sure your busy and don’t have time but anything you share I’ll be happy to watch ! I wanna have a channel one day to inspire others to sew without having tons of $ for lessons and not just make videos to sale fabrics or tools ! I am trying to learn how to quilt without special tools but most show you tools and don’t teach you like they do in small quilting classes ! I wished I could find one near me ! But idk ! Anyways ty hon sincerly ! Love that satin stitch ! You may not have time to read comments but man id love to know how or what you use to is that free motion quilting lines or just reg quilting lines ?! Wow ! Excuse me if you don’t read comments and see my silly question ! I hope I asked it right ! The sandwich ! I like how you finshed it up block by block instead of doing the whole thing at one time and make it look so simple ! You live this you can see !

Costco sells a plastic square folding table. With a towel, a steam iron won't do damage. Became I'm using a muslin foundation for my contained crazy blocks, not paper. The table/iron board travels well for classes too. Wiith a 3 prong power strip I don't have to wait my turn at the 4 regular ironing boards/iron provided in class. Thank you for your clear tutorial. ❇🔹❇🔹❇

Would it be better to use an appropriate size of fabric for each section. You seem to waste an awful lot of fabric using the larger pieces and cutting them after you've seen.

You started in the middle, but do you just pick which block will be your next? You moved a bit too fast for me; maybe slow down a bit and explain to your viewers each step. (Always assume that viewer doesn’t know what paper piecing is). I would like to see you do a video on wonky quilt blocks without paper piecing. Thank you for the video. I’m sure it takes many steps to produce one of these tutorials.

DJ Summers 1st, this is where you post comments or continue the conversation. She is free to say whatever she wants (aka 1st Amendment) 2nd It takes a lot of work and time to make these tutorial videos. So, there is no need to be negative or mean in comments. Like my parents and grandparents told me growing up, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything. If it's not your thing, don't watch. It's like me saying a rude comments on a RU-vid video on drawing, when I can't trace a straight line. No one needs to ask someone to post.
@Marla.22

Some people don't need to even MAKE videos...such as this one! These blocks are wonky alright! I have my opinion and will state it, so get over yourself (the person who can't draw a straight line) Get you a ruler

DJ Shanas why oh why is there more banter, negativity and arguing in the comments on most any video, article-whatever.. WHY? The reasonable thing to do if The video wasn’t for you, would be to simply (and politely-and respectively!) move along! but some people are so unhappy they just want to bring in all this negativity and put others down, and maybe even subconsciously, but your wanting others to feel just as unhappy as you are..hows that working for you? Maybe it’s time to look within..

Hey hon you just start off with two pieces of fabrics right side down “ good side down “ and look through the paper sew one of the lines you draw and keep adding one more peice next to it don’t matter which side and keep adding till you have sewn on all of the lines and if you wanna keep sewing and adding till your block is as big as you are happy with ! I wanna do this too ! They sale paper for this but it adds up ! I do have a template called simply crazy and they have a video to show you how to do that too ! Good luck ! Just jump in there gal I’m going to try this myself ! I hope this helped !
