Just found your channel. I and my partner have just bought our couple of acres in South Wales at 53 & 59. I love to see your relationship with the dogs as I am the same - love them more than any human. People think we are mad, but mostly they wish to be so brave. We are stuck in a touring caravan whilst we get sorted. I have also found the offers of voluntary help overwhelming, but good people want to know they have made a difference for a positive reason. I can highly recommend genuine Blackrock Chickens. Long living and highlybselected for free range living. A tight feathered breed. Only one person breeds them. He lives in Scotland but sends chicks down south to sell. I collected mine from Ludlow in Shropshire. Great birds. Good luck.

Here are some future video ideas: -What costs are involved for people looking to do something similar? -Were their UK legal hurdles and any advice on overcoming them? -What food did you start growing first? -What were some of the greatest challenges and positives so far? -Which food might be worth trying to grow even for someone living in a house to prepare them for an alternative lifestyle? -Did you transition to your land straight away or was it a gradual process? -How much building experience did you need and what advice would you give for someone looking to build your structures? -Video diaries are wonderful for following the overall story and short video ‘how-tos’ are immensely useful to help so many of us looking to achieve a more sustainable future. -please consider opening up your space for you to run skills workshops to teach even more people (you could even charge people for a workshop so your goal of getting chickens becomes a little easier too!!) Top content as always. Keep it coming. Homestead life is busy busy- but it's so rewarding. My skill set has gone from practically zero to a multitude of abilities. Animal husbandry, crops, bread/beer/wine making, cheese and yoghurt making to name but a few. It's a great lifestyle- muddy and hard work, but great.

I love it ask the girls for advice. On the positive point out of every negative there is a positive. Just be cautious of those who become inflamed with jealousy over your achievements. You are not alone with the technology I just press the keys and hope for the best. Chickens are wonderful, we had a cockerel in our village but people complained about him waking them up. I loved him. I hope you get support with this because of your humility.

Also - consider in the future channel memberships - you can do a live specifically for members once a week as a perk. I love being a member of some of my fav channels it is another way to support than watch the ads! Some channels run mini competitions for members and do live question and answers etc. worth thinking about in the future instead of the buy a coffee model :)

Hi Kevin, have you thought of finding a bee keeper who can put some hives on your land then you can get a cut of the honey for your self or to sell for some money?

Since you want chickens, I would start by building a safe coop and run, surrounded and covered with as strong a wire fence and cover as you can afford, with strong posts and especially a "skirt" around the bottom, which starts a few centimeters above ground (50cm?), then bends and lays horizontally (on the ground) for around the same width, because no predator can dig over a horizontal wire mesh lying on the ground. Too many would-be chicken "raisers" have lost some of their precious chickens for failing to attend to this important detail. Any predator can dig under normal fences without this flat/horizontal "skirt". It's worth the time and the money invested initially.
