The lady saying "Slow Down". Good grief, if you're on a bolting horse it can be a little difficult! sheesh! You look lovely by the way, cute pony too :)
Lps Flame Sounds so easy in theory. I've had green horses take off and you can try to turn them all you like but some will just keep going straight even if you turn their head. Admittedly these are horses that haven't had their power steering and breaks fully installed yet, but even on horses that have, bolting isn't as simple to stop as that. Yes that's what you aim for but it doesn't work for every horse every time. Sometimes the best option is to emergency dismount. Plus if a horse is bolting it can be very hard to control the angle of the turn, spiralling is extremely hard on an out of control horse. Often they turn too sharply at speed and this can unbalance them and they can fall (seen it happen again on a green horse).
same! When my mare bucks or rears Im just like yeaa... right, but when she bolts it scares the hell out of me and thats me, a confident, technical rider saying that. Dont be ashamed of fears because everyone has fears xx
Lana Turner awww thanks! What mostly scares me is because my mare once she's running, she doesn't want to stop and she'll be a stinker till you put her away (we don't of course) even after I fall off I walk around on her to end on a good note
Holy that was amazing! You clearly have some talent, but as for the horse he isn't "bad" or "naughty" as you said he didn't like his riding space, and it was new to him. Also I seen another comment that stated "horses don't buck for no reason" that can and can't be true. Usually it's just a bad day, or maybe just something simple like checking there tack for any sort of discomfort. Well done!
+SDRequestrian x horse probably bolted and bucked because of the environment. big open space with lots of people, new horses and different sounds. from the looks of it he was just fresh and wanted to run ^^
You really are the perfect example of how to evaluate episodes gone wrong and how to learn and grow from things not going as planned. You explain really reflectively and elaborate on what happened, how you felt and what you were thinking and then you explain what you got out of it in the end. If a fall ever is a good thing it would be if the rider is able to learn enough from it to cover the bruises all over the body. And you didn't do anything wrong. You reacted in the situation you were in and your pony was acting up and the final result of you both and the particular scene was a fall. Nothing more. You'll become a wonderful rider.
+The Divine Diva you don't know that for sure. Sometimes the rider just decides it's better to stop trying than to keep holding on and it looks like she falls off, even though she intended too. I was in a similar situation a few months ago, and decided to let go since the horse went batshit insane indoors, but unfortunately i managed to break my hip in doing so and getting smashed against the wall lol
I know this sounds a bit insensitive, BUT!!!!!...Your pony can really jump girl!!! you had a bad day, it happens and so the only thing we can do is!!! confiscate his carrots and get back on!!! :D
Why punish the horse? You could see this coming a mile away. She kept going and the pressure cooker was on. How about take the humans “carrots” away. How many bucks til you take it down a notch?
@@featheredfoothillfarm 1- it was a joke 2- horses don’t need carrots bruh 😂 mine can’t have apples or carrots as she gets too much energy and has a massive sugar rush 😂😇
@@featheredfoothillfarm its a joke. Horses dont need carrots or treats. At my barn, the more experienced horses never even get treats. My horse gets them because then she knows she was good but all horses dont need treats to know they were good. As long as they get food and water, they're fine.
You are such a good rider, Amber! I've trained horses for twenty years and shown nationally and I'm impressed. I hope you are okay and aren't afraid to ride now. You have a real talent that will make you very successful in the future.
I have fallen so many times I can’t even remember my first one. I feel like you learn from every fall and it makes you a better rider each time. They rode the bucks amazingly in the start!
You handled that really well! I loose my stirrups all the time and once during show, my horse left out a stride on the second jump and I covered up somewhat well, but I lost my stirrup and finished the WHOLE course without one stirrup! The best part is, I got first place! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Way to stay composed! That's alot of stimulation for even the best trained horse, cars honking, people yelling, all the different banner and flags waving...it can get to them, I applaud you for staying calm and trying to keep him going :) good luck with the rest of your riding!
What a brave girl! She handled the horse well even when be kept bucking. I’ve been seeing so many horses on you tube that tear off running and either the runner holds on for dear life until the horse stops or they get thrown off. I think if I get a horse I will just love him or her and not ride. Lol I think I’ve been cured of wanting to ride a horse. Lol
I'd be super proud of riding this round. You stayed calm the whole way round and kept the pony focused as long as you could. Well done (little envious with your riding compared to my rusty and full of bad habits riding)
Nice sticking! Those bucks looked pretty unseating! You're pony is sooooo pretty☺️. He looks like a pony that a princess would ride! You're such a good rider!
Some people just aren't going to get it, see comment right below mine. No matter how well trained the horse or the rider are, things can change very quickly. Sometimes certain techniques will work, but NOT in every situation. A great horse can do just as much damage at a show as a stubborn unpredictable one. You did a great job staying calm and on as long as you did, the crowd should know the danger involved. I hope you still have the courage and strength to get on again, great job!
You did a great job sticking with that horse and riding those bucks and jumps. You're a great rider. My horse has bolted like that a few times in the past, so I feel your pain haha.
Very nice job! despite the bucking and the fit throwing you kept the horse going through the jumps. You stayed well seated through almost all of it. awesome job.
There's an old wives tale that your not a good rider unless you've fallen off at least 7 times. Something to do with the more experience you get, the more you push and try new things. She never looked as though she was in a smooth stride. Seemed a bit jerky to me. Dont think she was happy and just played up until she unnerved you then bombed off when she knew you lost control. You rode her very well and you have a beautiful seat,so well done and be careful
Here are some tips on how to stay on, my trainer told me when my horse bolted, heels down, don't use reigns for all your balance, grab main, run like you stole it until the horse calms down.Incase of bucking stay calm and lean the way your horse is going. Rearing, lean forward and wrap arms around horse neck ( English) (Western) Bucking grab horn of saddle and heels down, Rearing, grab horn and heals down, if rolling dismount horse fast
All I can say is I probably would've been off a lot sooner. Horses buck for a THOUSAND reasons. Fresh and been off for a while, new surroundings, excitement, change in feeds, iritation, the list goes one. Sometimes its just as simple as wanting to play. You did wonderfully and hope you and pony are good!❤
Hi! I love horses and it would have be my dream to have rode when I was as young as you! Cute pony am I mistaken or was it a halflinger? For how young you are I think you rode very well, even though I'm not professional and I have never jumped, or fallen off for that matter. That must of been a bad fall, good luck x
Wow. I think that was some awesome riding by such a young rider and the pony is clearly tallented. you are doing a great job of bringing on a young cheeky pony . good for you
Atlien Rider She may be a bitch, Sure you have the right to say what you want. But she has something you don't.. An ability to keep her mouth shut about people ;).
I also don't have a pussy and she does.... what has THAT got to do with the cost of tea in China? Keep your nose out of other people's business and up your ass where it belongs.
Just a quick tip: when a horse is bucking, do not shorten your reigns, just raise your hands and put them higher up towards the horses ears but good job!
Ooh, sorry for the rough ride. My confidence would have gone wayyyy down if I had had a ride like that at such a young age. Good job staying on for most of it! :)
Wow you have talent for staying on the first couple times he bucked, where you ok when you fell? Oh and just to let you know we all fall off sometimes so don't worry about it. =)
That was some awesome riding! He was bucking before the bolt and if you blinked you would have missed it because you sat so well though it! To the person making the ignorant comments (wolfman or whatever your name is) keep you stupid comments to yourself. You've obviously never even owned a horse before. Sounds like you are just ignorant and jealous.
This was really well ridden, especially as you're so young. I say good job! Staying on when the horse bucks after a jump is really difficult, well done.
did you managed to understand what made him bolt for the flag line like that? I doubt just not liking the grass stadium could have been the reason. The fact that he stopped once you were off him says he wasn't spooked... just pissed about something. Or at least it feels so to me. But I'm not a rider, so I may be wrong. I have the weird feeling that he simply got feisty on you and wanted to take charge then snapped out of it once you fell. The clip doesn't show... did he turn back to you before you got up? It's good you learned from it and got him in the right mind set though. Bet it wasn't easy... he seems to be one very opinionated character ;)
Uh, the pony clearly showed huge enthusiasm for jumping? The pony just got a little too excited, that’s all. You can still clearly tell he’s enjoying it.
Now not trying to be mean....but I wouldn't classify that as full buck....I would classify that as a hump....or a kick out....but that bolt though sheesh...a buck I think is when a horse doesn't keep going forward but stops and jumps in the spot like a bucking bronco
A buck is when they chuck out their hindquarters usually out of discomfort or excitement, I would call these bunny hops lel, I'm so glad my pony doesn't do these but she does bolt .... a lot, I'm guessing the rider's not used to bolting and leapt off, I'd have clung on because I'm used to it xD
I watch this over and over as it’s like looking in a mirror - the ponies colour markings and temperament is exactly the same as what my pony was - love it
Very good rider. Very fresh horse. That's where you want a nice one rein stop. I teach my horses something super early that most people think is crazy- I grab around their neck suddenly at the walk with my arms and dropped reins and when they stop, I give them a treat. Then to the trot another day. Then to the canter. Always a treat. Then maybe when they get this fresh, their empathy will kick in and they'll remember how to take care of you. I hope your trainer hopped on that pony. But you are a very good rider. That was a lot of bucking and really good staying tal and straight when she bolted. That's a big fun field for a horse to run in.
i think she did very well handling the horse considering the situation and the way he was acting. she didn't seem to freak out and kept going like everything was perfect ❤️
There is this one pony at my barn who would just randomly take off bucking and bolting in the show ring while I was showing him in both jumping classes and flat classes. He was called dragon and he lived up to his name. Dragon was a very small sec. A welsh gelding,11.2 hands and he would bite every one he could see as hard as he and he LOVED to bite me.
Brilliantly handled! You stayed in control, didn't panic, and even though it must have been frightening, you looked as cool as a cucumber. Poor pony just wasn't feeling it, but you couldn't have handled that any better.
You rode him so well! You sat his bucks so well and got him over the jumps amazingly! I would have fallen off as soon as I lost my stirrup. Such a pity you fell but everything else was brill xxx
Amber I was so impressed to see how calm you remained, that can be seen in the stillness of your hand and leg (allbeit a struggle!) you continued to try half halt to slow your pony, I would love to see a video taken recently..well done.
You did a great job! You kept him going forward & doing his job a lot longer than he wanted to and looked good doing it. There's only so much you can do after a certain point and you made sure you didn't get hurt. That's 100% success in my book. :-)
nice seat, he looked like he was bunny hopping a lot of those fences and you sat them very well! I probably would have bailed too, I haaaaaate when they bolt like that.
