2 weeks ago my horse tripped and fell with me. I ended up getting road rash looking sh*t on my face and my upper lip in my braces. 2 days later, I rode the same horse and hand galloped. My dad said, "You're doing great! Your mom isn't over here."
The horse I was riding today hand galloped. I’ve never galloped before and it was unexpected as she bolted. She then starting broncing and I fell off. Your fall must’ve been horrifying. Are you okay now? (Yes, I know this was from like 7 months ago lol)
@@harlsrolo Yes, I'm doing fine now. I did a show in April with the same horse, and she handled it very well; I'm doing another show in two days as well. After my fall, my mom wouldn't watch because of her anxiety, and I'd startle my dad on purpose by picking up a canter in the corner where he was sitting lol. I hope you're okay after your fall! 🖤
When I had my first fall I was loping really fast in a round pen. I accidentally made a really sharp turn, and I fell of the horse, and my head almost banged of the metal round pen, and I wasn’t even wearing a helmet. But thankfully I only had a few scratches, and bruises. Edit: Please always wear helmets because if my head did hit I probably would have gotten really hurt.
I’m late but I agree with always wearing helmets my horse refused and I flew infromt of him and the top of forehead and lower head right on the corner of the wooden jump post if saved me front a hospital visit
I busted my knee three months ago falling and got back on and jumped. Adrenaline made me think I was fine and uninjured. I was very injured and made it worse. Let adrenaline wear off before you get back on 😭
So my first fall off a big horse was at a show. I was riding a western pleasure horse and I thought "oh it would be a GREAT IDEA to take a PLEASURE HORSE (he is ment to go nice and slow, and fancy) Around barrels in the speed event, I took him around the first barrel and he started to crow hop, finally I went around the second barrel and I was bucked off into a foot of sand :) but I got a second shot and I did it :)
My worst fall was when I was in a cross country competition and well my horse hates water and it was raining that night so I went there Hoping there was no water and it had been dried up, we where doing good except then came a jump with was in a dip sort of and well the water hadn’t dried up so I was there staring at it hoping my horse didn’t step in it and well she did. She then spooked and I got caught on the gearth some how and my foot was stuck in the stirrup so I got dragged and then I can’t really remember that much but I will try and explain, all I could hear was the judges going “ someone help her” and “ is she ok” “call an ambulance” and then I completely blacked out. ⚠️blood and other stuff like that⚠️ I woke up and my mum said I had been blacked out for about AN HOUr which the doctors had been worrying about and I was in a neck brace with my vision really blurry and doctors SWARMING AROUnD Me LIkE IM A MEAL FoR A BUncH Of hYEANES(not to sure how spell it) I managed to get up as the main doctor gave me permission and all I could see is blood all other the bed and my leg oUt OF PlAce, I had to go for a 5 hour operation and well I was in a metal rod thingy for 6 months and it got taken of last week. MY LEG IS FREE FROM THAT CAGE. My mum says to never go on that horse again but tbh it wasn’t her fault (I mean it kind of was but anyway) luckily I’m fortunate to have stable hands and she is still in work so when I come back I won’t have to work her in again :) I don’t know what others did but one of my friends there had her horse and she ran of him and came straight to me and CRIED. I mean it’s happy and all. Ima just end It here bcs I don’t know what else to say.
My worst fall when I broke my ribs, Story 👇 So I was tacking up my big horse and I took him on the outside arena since it was a good weather, anyways I hope on and this big like tractor drives by and he gets scared so I try to hop of but he rears before and falls on his back, getting on me! So I got a 800kg body all over me making me breaking 2 ribs. I’m well now and happy nothing worse happened
My worst fall was when I was going over a jump with my pony Skittles. She jumped it very long, so I lost my balance, while I was regaining it, she took a really sharp turn and I flew off. I got a concussion. I'm fine tho! And Skittles! There was also another time that I think was worse. I was galloping on a pony named Trixie, and a dog was chasing us. Trixie started bucking and threw me off. I fell unconscious for a couple minutes. I got a concussion and very bad whiplash. This was a long time ago and everyone is ok!
Ik this is late but my worst fall to date was a few years ago at a riding camp at my lesson barn, I was still working on cantering and we were going one at a time, I lost my balance on this 13.2hh gelding and topple right off the side, him being the good old man that he is stopped as soon as I started falling (which actually made the fall worse but he was a good boy) and I fell and cracked 3 ribs, don’t ask how it happened I was wearing a body protector and had cantered him quite a few times before. He had a very bouncy canter and I was in quite a bit of pain so one of the other girls hopped on him, when she cantered she went right over his head, landed close to where I did. Must not have been a good day to ride him lol. The other girl was completely fine and got back on to trot him around. The worst part was all I could think about was how that might be my last ride on him (it wasn’t) because my instructor had him on a life long lease and the owner was thinking about taking him back. This was a 23 year old pony who acted like a 9 year old at best, a few months before my instructor got him he was still jumping 90-100cm, I learnt a lot on him.
My first fall happened almost 3 weeks ago and I have been riding for 7 years now. I was riding my horse bareback down to his pasture when a bunch of horses spooked so he took off galloping. I stayed on for a good 100 meters and then I literally ate dirt. I hit his leg and his shoe cut my arm and he fell after trying not to step on me. He was perfectly fine. I had slide off his neck and to the side a bit. So I proceeded to hit my face on the ground a bit but my right shoulder, right hip, a bit of my upper rib cage, and my right elbow took the impact. I also punched myself in the arm somehow. I just bruised the bone in a couple places and strained a tendon in my rotator cuff but I am already back in riding and feel great. But my elbow is still healing and my jaw is sometimes sore. He’s an OTTB so naturally it had to be a dramatic first fall, but surprisingly no confidence knock and my first time actually doing stuff on him he was perfect. I also got a big cut in my bottom lip from my braces😂 And unfortunately we don’t have a video of it😂😭
My worst fall So I own a 18,1 hh 4 year old horse, and this was his first oxer. I was cantering towards the jump when he spooked and took of 2 strides early to the jump and he got his hoof caught on the fence and the martingale as a result we both smashed head first Into the ground and he fell on me. As he got up I was tangled in the martingale and he started galloping and jumped our fence with me dragging behind him. We were miraculously both fine
My worst fall was not long ago I was the first person who still takes necessary lessons to get on this horse, she is fully Arabian and only professionals had riden her. I was telling her to go up to a trot, no crop no kicking I just did a small squeeze and she galloped, I had only galloped a horse once before and it was pretty slow (like a fast canter) I fell off backwards and my friend said she did not realize i fell until she heard me hit the ground. FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ARENA!!! I got back on and my trainer held on to her halter (both of us assumed that she got spooked or something). I wanted her to move a little forward so i did just where my legs touched her sides. She ended up spraining my trainers wrist and making me scared to tell a horse to go forward. My only other fall was when I fell off the horse i commonly ride named Mo he is 17.1 hh tall and my helmet had scratch marks indented in the plastic
Took lessons from my mom's cousin a few years ago for anxiety. Younger stubborn horse decided to run out the arena door, and I tried to stop him. Next thing I know I'm sitting on the ground with the horse standing next to me. Don't remember the fall but I guess the horse stopped to avoid hitting the fence and I fell. Right away stood back up and finished the lesson. After I went home but was throwing up all afternoon and lower back pain. Only injury was the sore back but that didn't last that long. Was a lot more shaken up then I was hurt. Didn't stop me from riding some more after I felt better though
I just had my worst fall a couple of days ago. I was galloping and my horse tripped or spooked at something and I came down her neck and landed on my arm. Broken arm, dislocated elbow, but I am thankful that I am alive 😊. In case you were wondering, yes my horse is okay ❤️🩹.
Oh wow the pony I ride keeps bucking me off two lessons in a row she bucked yesterday and I wrapped myself around. Her neck and pulled myself up! It’s nothing compared to that in my falls absolutely nothing happened
@@henrithebigreddog Unfortunately I was riding bareback in my field and she tripped or spooked, and I tried clinging on to her neck but she started spinning so I just let go. But it’s good that you caught yourself and that you haven’t had a bad fall so far!
I fell off three weeks ago and after my mom got to me since I was on the ground and we were by my horses pasture she told me he fell bc he had scrapes on his knees. I asked if he was ok bc I was staring up at the sky and I couldn’t move. He was perfectly fine but I didn’t get full mobility until 1-2 days after the fall since my whole right side hurt
in all my six years of riding ive only had one fall, its because ive only been on good horses (except my pony who rears a lot) and im weirdly good at sitting rears
Same except there have been multiple moments in the 7 years I have been riding that I should have fallen but my trainer calls me “sticky” and so do some of the other trainers. My OTTB finally dumped me three weeks ago and I did get hurt but I started riding a week and a half ago. It wasn’t his fault though❤️
@@Maddie_Equestrian129 Ya😂 his canter is so smooth but I can sit most canters at this point bc I have ridden a very wide variety of horses all of which are either spicy or lazy.
So the same thing kind of happened to me this morning. So since I’m a new rider we were practicing trotting and posting and my horse got really pissed or mad and it started jumping around and that just scared me so much and luckily I didn’t fall ( Also I hope ur okay)
@@I_Had_No_Choiceheh 😅 yeah I’ve learnt a TON more than horses from back then, and yep! Your absolutely right, usually horses don’t get ‘mad’ they just spook.
My first fall was worse because I fell off a 17 hh quarter horse and sprained my wrist and had a bruise on my ass for weeks and it didn’t help that it was the weekend before my surgery on my ankle which was back in August and I haven’t been riding since 😭
Okay I’m late but I don’t care One time I was cantering on my horse, she was super bumpy. I looked down, causing me to loose focus and I came out of the stirrups, and ended up on my horse’s neck. My instructor was yelling at me to sit up, when I was too stressed and scared to move. I fell off and I broke my humorous(bone in ur arm) and got a permanent backache, but I am gonna heal and be fine! And my horse, a big chunk of her hoof came out, but we will both heal fast!
ok worse fall story so basically i was learning how to how to canter, i wasn’t very good or confident yet but i was learning on a nice calm horse. BUTTT my usual trainer was at a show so i had a lesson with ANOTHER trainer and the usual horse i ride was hurt and put on stall rest, so i rode another horse who i had just done small trot jumps with. she WAS VERY SPOOKY AND nervous in the indoor arena and that’s where we rode because it was hot HOT outside, and basically the trainer asked me to canter and i was nervous because we where inside and i had only trotted on her, SOO i asked for canter and it was smooth for like a second and then it got speedy and out of control, we stopped and i was told to canter again and i was nervous and got all floppy and accidentally kicked her and she started GALLOPING and we did a good 4 laps and then i fell off and hit my head😭😭 never rode there again💀💀
Lol when I fell off for the first time a few months ago I was so high in the air I could've landed back on my horse but on my feet 😭 at least it felt like that
My worse fall was when my appendix mare took off with me on a trail ride after seeing a bear, she dumped me 1 mile away from where she took off. (I couldn’t stop her) this was also 2 years ago, I haven’t fallen off since then beside 1 time which was also a while ago.
My worst fall was when Anton 2 years ago bucked me of. He was 6 years old and bucked a lot but at this moment I didn't expected it and he bucked me of in full speed. At first I didn't had any pain and I got back up and rode like it was nothing. I also jumped him a bit but at the next day I couldn't get up because my neck and back were hurting so much. After one week it got a bit better. I still ride this crazy boy. And I'm really happy that he bucked so much because I learned a lot from this and I don't fall of anymore when a horse starts bucking.👌🏼😅
A long time ago I was on the road and my bareback pad went sideways and we were against a fence galloping and I fell off and she ran my leg over and almost crushed my knee😳
So my first fall was when i was at my show jumping 85 cm mickey had forgot to jump it and he tripped wich caused me to fall over his kneck and cantred over me leading to a sprained leg it hurt so bad i cried so hard.
I horse once slipped on to me a broke my arm in half got bad head trama broke ribs and toes, fingers I was hospitalized fir 1 week. I'm still not allowed to ride again
My worst fall was at my lesson a one year ago I got tacked up we got into the area and I started trotting around and then out of nowhere the horse jumped and bucked I stayed on and then he jets around the round pen I had brake away stirrups on my saddle so half way around the round pen my stirrups brake I was like ho no so I didn’t want to fly off onto the round pen so I just squeezed to stay on and then I flew off. Thank you for listening to me ❤❤😂
That wasn't a fall tho, my worst fall would be after a barrel pattern which wasn't going well anyway, my horse was VERY ancy and nervous and so anyway we finish the pattern and when we pass the line I start to try and break him down, instead he starts speeding up and barreling towards the panels making up the end of the arena. He's not listening, no turning no slowing down, nothing and so we get to the fence and without thinking of course I'm looking at the fence were running at so where do I end up? Slamming against the metal panel, he ofc turned right at the panel but I didn't. I hit the panel square in my back somehow and went down to the ground, my coach was literally standing right on the other side so she saw it all lol. First aid personable ofc came running and I'm trying to get up and get my horse, after catching my breath lying on the ground lol, and they're like stay down don't move! And do all the protocol like asking if I can wiggle my toes and stuff when I'm literally moving my legs trying to get up lol, got some nice arena rash on my back and still have the scar😅 mainly my fault for not looking where Teddy my horse was prob going but oh well lol, it was my very first barrel race too thankfully my time still counted since I fell AFTER the line lol, I trotted part of it to keep him under control between the 2nd and 3rd barrel so I had a 30 something run but still beat a bunch of girls who loped the whole thing 😁
last night I had a riding lesson and my lesson horse just would not trot over the ground poles and then when we tried going over them again she just stood there right over them so I just layed for sec in the same position u were in when u went over the jump 😅
Do you have any tips for cantering for the first time? My trainer said i am really close to it and I am a little scared. If you do plz reply to this comment! btw i ride english
I do! Canter isn't anything to be scared about just dont look down and try to glue to the saddle if u think about it, canter is alot easier than trot and once u get the hang of it you'll be fearless!
my worst fall was when i was riding around the pasture at my house with my friend, i was on my pony, my friend was on my friesian, and there was my pony in the pasture to. it was raining yesterday so the grass was still wet, and while i was going down a hill the pony on the pasture started messing around and the pony i was riding started trotting. when i tried to stop him he bucked me of and went galloping around the field multiple times. eventually he stopped and acted normal, but i had lots of cuts on my arm, shoulder, and hip from the grass. the horses and my friend were all fine though.
Are you practicing an emergency dismount in case you DO fall or something? Or are you trying to ride while leaning over the horse's withers to get used to the crazy perspective of a "fall"? Without actually falling? My George is 15.3 hands tall and my instructor had me doing that the last time I was riding. It was mighty strange and kind of scary too. Definitely a very different perspective!
@@lifewithtanner4641 I think of funny stuff all the time! 😀 And last time I was out at the ranch and was putting the tact on George, the two little donkeys came over to investigate. So for fun I put the English saddle on the one donkey. He was so fat I didn't think it would fit at all but it kind of did (to my surprise). And he just stood there totally still. And the other donkey came really close, almost with his nose on the saddle, staring at it with these big eyes as if saying "What is THAT on your back!?" It was funny!! Of course after out bit of fun we took it off of him and put it on George. And my instructor said she was surprised that the donkey hadn't started bucking. I guess he was too shocked! 😅 but both got locked out of the riding ring when the time for riding came. Oh and the time before that they had the idea of me sitting on him backwards! Which was easy. But leaning over the withers - you really need a thick folded towel for that as George's withers are SO hard and bony! Definitely gave me a sore tender spot the first time I tried that. The 2nd time I got smart + asked for a towel!! I never know what idea those two will have. 😅
That's a fall? When I was 17 I bought a young, very green horse who was very hot. He bucked me off almost every day for a year. But he was gorgeous and mine, and I figured that if I could learn to ride him, I'd be able to ride almost anything. It wasn't true, of course, but it wasn't too far off. I learned how to fall, how to get up and keep going, and how to ride (and train) a really hot horse. Keep going. A fall is part of riding 😁
Definitely. I used to lease a pony who taught me to sit through bucks and kicks and crow hops. Never taught me to sit through riding an OTTB bare back who decides to bolt. That was a fun trip to the ER. It happened three weeks ago but I just strained a tendon in my shoulder. But knowing him and his clumsiness he fell too but was perfectly fine
My worst fall was really recently and the horse I ride refused a jump and I fell of and broke my elbow, and I had to have surgery and now have 3 metal rods in my arm.
My first fall was actually kind of funny. I was on the first lesson pony I'd ever rode, Mambo. (It wasnt my first ride) We were walking and the barn dogs were play fighting nearby, Mambo spooked and threw me.
My worst fall was on my horse Elvis we were on a hack when a car came by and spooked him and I fell on to a electric fence and he walked on my leg and it broken and I had to ride all the way home
My worst fall was about 2 years ago I had just got on a pony and it spooked at something and reared up and I fell off and the pony landed ontop of me and I nearly broke my back
One time I was riding on a VERY poorly trained horse that should not have been for beginners and my teacher was on her phone and wasn’t warning me of my heels or reigns and the horse got scared and started to run and I gel and hit my head on the wall 😅
gys i went to my horse riding lesson yesterday it was a group lesson and i was riding a horse called bramble and we doing fine (it was my first time riding bramble ) and anyways we were trotting we were cantering we were doing pole work and everything was fine but then we started doing juming and ive never jumed before so we did a cross pole one about 3 times but then we had to do a straight pole jump which the teacher asked me do i want it on the floor or up one and i thought and said up one so we waited for every body else to do it first then it was are go and we walked round till we were in line whith the jump then we trotted i grabbed my neck strap and we went for the jump and we got over the jump put as a landded i fell straight forward and then i just fell it was so scary but the teacher asked what have i hurt and i said my hip and it was my hip because now i have bruse and lots of scraches i didnt cry and got straight back on well not straight away but it was time to cool of and we was cooling of bareback whith that was fun but we all had to trott round arena bareback so asked the teacher to leed me round and she did so that end of my story but i still enjoyed doing the lesson and my favourite was the cross jump bye the way im only nine and lost a little bit of my confidence but im not going stop doing horse riding because one fall the end of my story ❤❤
My worst fall wasn’t a fall more like a spook but a few days ago I was at this open land place and as we was about to go past a bridge these kids throw this boy off of the bridge and came running up behind my horse(Dennis) and he reared and tried to gallop off thankfully I stopped him! Back story: we rescued my horse Dennis from a sight bc he was tied to a lamp post getting water from a water bottle so we payed them but the kids on the sight were the ones at the open land(arches) I’m thankful I stopped him bc the arches is right near a main road
Not as bad as what happend to me MY story is I was doing liberty with my ponie and she ran back to my other ponnie and cicked me in the face and i got 42 stitches and i was put to sleep for it.I came back 12:00 at night to go see her again. We humans give up so much for those furry creatures.Bless your soles.Xx
Yesterday I had a lesson at a riding place( first lesson at this barn ) and the horses were way more experienced than regular lesson horses and me an not even the in the first 15 minutes I fell off due to a spook the horse had, about 10 minutes after I asked the horse to trot and I kicked a little to hard so he cantered and me not riding in awhile I got confused and did not expect that and fell of on my head… and now I have a VERY sore back and a pulled muscle in my neck 👍🏻 NONE OF THESE FALL ARE THE HORSES FALT THEY ARE MINE ME BEING A GREEN RIDIER IN ENGLISH AND THIS HORE BEING YOUNGER AND NOT TRAINED THAT WELL
