Traveling is an incredible way to see the world and create memories in new places. Other times, it can be a chaotic series of events that turn into a nightmare. Here are two stories that fall into the latter, where my trips to Chicago and St. Louis were truly a series of unfortunate and hilarious events.

I have a wild air travel story, with an engineer’s strike at Heathrow keeping us on the tarmac at Shannon for half a day, which began my semester abroad filled with various kinds of homelessness, including stints at the Hotel Neero,,staffed with Saudis who replied “Yes” to every request. I also rented a room across the hall from a Welsh Socialist, the Russian landlady gently breaking the news to me of our eviction, by developers around the King’s Cross Station, with Turkish coffee and a cassette of the Red Army Chorus.

If I need to leave the gate, I go to my departing gate and give the gate agent my name. I cheerfully engage in conversation and tell them my destination. I just did this like 3 weeks ago and she was so nice. She said I'll call you over the speaker if I don't see you. The goal was to let her know I was there. Great story time!

SHOUT OUT FROM MY HOMETOWN MILWAUKEE!!! You do realize now you could have driven from Milwaukee to Chicago in 1.5 hours or less? People visiting from out of town connecting in Chicago wonder why they just don’t taxi the plane from O’Hare to Gen Mitchell Intl since it is such a short distance.

Omg! Similar situation happened to me with air bnb! I flew to Atlanta and told the host when I’d be arriving and she told me “oh I have to go to work u can check in at 6 pm.” Mind you, it was about 9:30 in the morning and her check in window said I could check in between 10:30 and 3. She insisted on being there when I arrived so I was forced to cancel and find a hotel last minute but air bnb unfortunately did not pay, I ate the money for the air bnb AND the hotel. Even after I filed a complaint to air bnb they were of no help. Host even charged me for a cleaning fee when I never even saw the place. Part of me thinks it never even existed, haha! Will never use air bnb literally ever again tho. 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 love your stories girl 🤪👏🏻

Wait seriously?!? That’s ridiculous! You clearly had all your luggage and plans for the day I’m sure, so crazy of them to switch up the check in time AND charge you after the fact. Sorry that happened, but thank you for sharing your story! A cautionary tale for Air Bnb for sure
