Having been a dealer and gone to many auctions, it really got old how much corruption existed at places like Copart and Manheim. Shady dealers that would sabotage vehicles, mess with them, unplug sensors, cut wires to try and get them for less. Or the auctioneers who would fake ¨bids¨ to run the prices up. It really got old and make it difficult to get clean cars or make a profit. Plus all the ridiculous fees that were associated with the auctions, it became a rat race.
Buyer's premium, sellers premium, holding charge, movement charge, paperwork filing fees, stocking fee, loading fee and the one you don't know about until you see the bill seems to be another 50% on top of your bid.
Also a very small world the automotive YT one. Rob from Salvage Rebuilds UK is mates with Scott Chivers (Ratarossa) who brought the Ferrari wing/fender over to Florida for his friend Samcrac who took that up to his chum VTuned who’s still repairing the Ferrari - full circle!😂
I'm pretty sure that the ECUs of that car would have IMMO data as well, so them working in the car kinda tells me that the 'nice guy' who gave you a 'good price' was the guy who stole them. 😅
You have been on fire 🔥 with the work lately and getting a lot done. Don’t forget to take some time off with your lady and enjoy life. ❤❤❤ Great video as always.
Great video, glad to see you figured out the electrical problem,I’m sure that was a relief.just don’t get ahead of yourself or get in a rush, gotta wait for parts anyway.just keep doing what your doing 👍👍👍😎😎😎
Came here to say this! Once the battery goes dead once the ECU thinks it's still dead until you "reset" it and tell it the battery is good to go again. Not sure why the McLaren battery worked... Maybe it's the opposite, where the car is looking for a certain voltage (from the ECU telling it) but because the battery is a bit lower now it doesn't match and the ECU is mad? Who knows... SO much tech and programming on modern cars!
Parts stolen at Copart? I’m shocked, shocked, shocked! You see all the time where easy to steal but expensive parts are missing off cars. ECUs, Body computers, badges, etc just disappear like magic.
Put the key on the column and foot on the break, hold the start button for 5 seconds, release it then start the car the key should relearn for the locks
I think the original owner is still up to dodgy dealings & trying to recover as much money as possible. Says he only took the tuner off, yet the aftermarket intake pipe was loose & damaged
It would be an employee for sure, they don't just let people walk round the yard to steal stuff. I don't understand why people steal from where they work, if you are caught you will be fired, then the only job you will get after that is on the garbage trucks if your lucky.
Hi Ben, so happy you got the Beemer running! That battery is a weird deal. Once again maybe some of the faithful who follow you might have an idea. I know how it is with the little things. They pile up and feel like one big one. Hang in there though because if anybody can figure these problems out, it’s you! Take care and see you when the next episode drops.
Weird, this is not your first BMW you have worked on. You know they are very particular vehicles. OEM parts and batteries. Solid vehicles, fun to drive. Not like you to complain some much. Have a better day Ben, your positivity is infectious, never change that.
The day that vTuned adds recommended videos to the end of the video, will be the day i'll eat my hat! Loving the progress on the M4. You made this repair look so easy as always!
Chris and rob and salvage rebuilds uk are great guys and very knowledgable They had to learn hiw to charge these batterys the hard way with help from 1 of their good friends
Salvage rebuilds UK is a great channel and they recently did one of these BMW’s, and put it in a giveaway lottery. Glad they were able to advise you about the battery.
When the BMW says "vehicle key missing" try replacing the battery in the fob. Holding the fob up to the side of the steering column is just the override process for a flat key. Also, once you register the vehicle to a BMW account you can also unlock + start with a smartphone (Apple or Android), or the RFID card that should have come with the vehicle. Hope that helps.
Shouldn't you disconnect the battery when changing airbags? I thought there was a significant risk of them blowing when the vehicle electrics are messed with?
Had this with a Porsche cayenne hybrid I rebuilt damaged and the lithium battery was dead after accident stripped it down and it had a bms (battery management system) inside like the box on your bmw battery had to buy a tool to plug into the bms and reset it before it would switch the battery on bmw might have same set up worth a look as I was quoted nearly £2,500 pounds in uk for new battery after reset battery was good as new . Keep up the good work 👍
Hi vtuned very nice good job on Bwm m4 couple manual new or used ECU fixing up get start will I love like support and number one ☝️vtuned old ford ranger yellow give father work new parts
I bought a new Agm Battery from walmart for my 2016 Bmw F31 Station wagon and it works great. Make sure you Code register new battery to ecu. Battery does not have to be from Bmw.
Vtuned you must unplug both connectors inside battery and connect them again coil will activate and battery will be working again. when battery drops below 10v coil is disabling voltage.
This entire situation with paired ECUs, immobilizers, expensive keys and other bullshit has really put me off modern cars across the board. I've got cars almost ready to turn 50 that'll keep running forever if I treat them right and replace what brakes, and cars too young to walk to school by themselves that are one fucked computer module away from the scrap heap. What progress?
Dear Ben, It’s very understandable that the BMW M4 is kind of a pain in the ass regarding to rebuild this car because you meet problems after problems. At the other hand it’s really clever you got the engine running. Adding how far you already have reached the level of rebuilding and knowing your skills to fix almost any damaged car I’m positive you’ll succeed with this one as well. Nice new projects are on the way. I look forward to your next vlog and send you love from the Netherlands
Have to use the original keys to unlock & lock doors.. Key has to be programmed to the CCM chassis control module to lock and unlock doors... Then the ECM to start vehicle and bypass the VSM vehicle safety module AKA anti- theft system.... and TCM transmission control module to put it in gear & place it in neutral for towing
Check a you tube video of mat Armstrong working on his gt3 at tarnishes shop in Florida and there a way to trick the battery into thinking it has a charge and your able to charge the dead battery. This was just a couple weeks the video showed good luck
It's still insurance fraud. If the insurance company discovers that the owner removed it after the assessment they can try to recover sum of the cost back.
If you didn't need to pair the ECU with the CAS key authentication module it's because they gave you parts that were original to the car. Which means the parts were the one stolen from the car at auction.
Way to go she is running !!! Now you can move on knowing she is not so much a money pit . She is so out of my league so it is sooo good of you to show her . Those red seats does some thing to me that i can not put into words !!! Thank you .
Just started watching your chanel after watching another chanel that went from rebuilding cars to anything but rebuilding cars. You look alot more professional and actually take us on the journey with you. Please dont let your success turn into greed like some others have done.
A popular tactic 15 years ago was they would steal the car, strip it of key items and essentially that made it worthless, (ECU, seats, screens, radio, wheels) then dump it somewhere conspicuous where it would be recovered quickly. Then they would wait a few weeks and go buy it from the auction for cheap and put it back together. And they could sell it out of state by washing the title. They busted several shops doing this in Phoenix and Southern California. I’m sure it still happens but not as often or organized as it was for a while.
