Keep the 348, it is truely a one of a kind mad but also perfect hooptie combo. And of course don't sell the 456 either. So, keep "ol' bus seats", "family car" and "the red high-milage one that won't make much money on a sale," because they're fun and apparently the most reliable. Sell the one that has the higher asking price and would put you more out of pocket to keep owning.

Look at where the peak hp was made, 7500 rpm and then it falls. It doesn't matter what the absolute number was that alone shows a major problem. That engine should build hp all the way to it's peak at the 9k redline. Regardless of what dyno, correction factor or gear 320hp is extremely low.

I would probably sell the 458 given the title status and it does the least for me. The 348 is a good drivers car you don't have to care about much. 355 values are still climbing, but with as much maintenance it's needing the 348 does the same thing. As much as I like the Countach, with the current values going up and how poorly you fit in the car, it also makes it a good candidate.

The 355 is by far the easiest to sell, as it has lower miles, just had the belt service, and has been skyrocketing in value with the 360 and F430 with gated shifters. That said, it is also the most likely to continue to appreciate or at least be significantly resilient to a bubble burst. I think it has to be the 348 or the 458. The 348 has a gated shifter, but its beat up from the feet up. The 458 seems to be lacking power, and given its history....might be a good one for sale. Maybe Tavarish would buy it and fix it for you.....speaking of which, you never told us what he traded you last week???

I’d agree with you except RU-vidrs don’t have trouble selling their cars regardless of title brands or issues. And I’d argue there is a bit of a premium for better known RU-vidrs cars. As far as which car to sell it’s subjective. Tyler has already ruled out the 456, and there are pros and cons with each of the mid engine cars. If this were me the 458 would be out of the running because the 355 and 348 are basically around the same era of Ferrari while the 458 is substantially newer. Tyler has a problem because he’s said how he likes both the 348 and 355. But if it were me since I have no leg up the logical choice is the 355. While yes it could continue to gain value branded title, odd modification, storied past Ferrari’s don’t sell well, taking months to sell and generally bring far less then you want due to the associated issues. In Tyler’s case he’s less locked into that problem.

LMAO Tyler sounds like nearly every person ever leaving the dyno aka the heartbreaker. Contrary to popular belief dynos don't lie. The car put down 320hp with SAE correction, had they used Standard (STD) correction the numbers would show 5-8% higher. Another common myth is gear selection skewing the numbers, the dyno doesn't care what gear the car is in. 1:1 is normally the most efficient for the drivetrain but only by 1-2% at the most. The only common exception to this would be on forced induction vehicles where lower gear selection on the dyno won't allow for enough load to produce full boost, or if the ecu applies torque limiters based on gear selection. The 458 falls into neither of those categories. Also as other commenters stated that was an all wheel dyno so it took torque to turn all 4 wheels/rollers, the dyno knows this and is calibrated for it so it is negligible in the results. Taking all of that into account the car maybe would have best case made 345-350hp at the wheels using STD correction factor or as many would call it Dynojet numbers. That is still dramatically off from where the car should be. Probably the most important thing seen on this dyno run is where the peak hp was made around 7500rpm and tapers off past that. The early hp peak is the largest evidence of an actual problem. The 458's engine is tuned to hit peak hp at its 9k rpm redline, the hp should rise continuously until that point not peak and fall. The peak torque was also off by about 60 lb ft.

A slightly different gear ratio will make NO DIFFERANCE, other than MORE drag at Higher wheel/gear train RPM. Dyno is a calibrated LABratory instrument and it measures RPM and Torque to get Power. An increase in Dyno RPM will result in lower torque, and a bit more drivetrain losses at higher RPM. So NO a different gear is not the problem of less than excepted HP.
@doug960
@doug960 2 года назад
Dyno numbers are basically meaningless unless you know the EXACT drivetrain loss for your application. AWD cars have considerably more drivetrain loss than rear and front wheel cars and are known for performing "poorly" on chassis dynos. The marketing coordinator for Mustang Dynos admits exactly this. You will never get an accurate engine power measurement from a chassis dyno. All they tell you is: "With these parameters and ambient conditions, you made these figures." You can use that as a baseline for comparison against other power runs in the same vehicle using all the same parameters and not much else. The only practical use for a chassis dyno is tuning in a safe, controlled environment under a variety of load and RPM scenarios. This is their intended purpose. Dyno days are stupid and a great way to blow something up while proving nothing.

That dyno run was pointless lol, so let’s do a dyno run incorrectly so we can give you wrong pointless results all the while knowing this beforehand, why didn’t they just do it in fourth on a calibrated machine? What was the point? I also find it funny that they sell additives to increase horsepower or bring lost horsepower back whilst simultaneously using a dyno that reads lower than it should, if that doesn’t slap you as suspect then I don’t know what will….

There's another 458 just down the road compared with the others, and unlike the Dyno place that was having a 'red car only' day it seems, I personally yawn at Ferrari rosso. I must mention something I only noticed for the first time in this episode though. The way the windows curve to meet the headrest and windscreen when the top is down on a 458, is so very awesome. That's the pinnacle of design. Still, it's the very beautiful, but not so rare 458 that would go for me, and the buyer will be getting a very special looking car.

OK Tyler said around 450 but the ballpark is in the right area. Poor previous maintenance won't lose much power on a modern engine with its tight tolerances and banks of sensors etc. Especially not as wizard has refreshed everything.
