I looked into entering the PDF AI wrapper space back in May after that PDF wrapper github repo was trending but decided not to because its already super saturated. Looks like it’ll entirely be a marketing and operations play. Best of luck and congrats on launching! I completely agree with your view and life goals. I share the same mindset. All love.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience with YC! I too have had friends and former bosses/colleagues that’s been pushing me to go the VC route. I’m in a similar school of thought as you with the indie hacker route. Have worked at far too many startups stuck in the VC mindset. I’ve always believed there’s a better way to start and build companies without making yourself beholden to investors…

I really enjoyed hearing a fresh perspective on this topic. Honestly have a lot of respect for you being able to come to terms with it and knowing what you want. I am curious what you mean by a holding company and what that would look like. Youi mentioned high cash flow, what are areas with high cashflow you are thinking of?
@billprin

I had a very similar experience. Drinking the bootstrapper / indie hacker kool-aid. Friend got accepted so I figured it'd be fun to do with a friend. Interview went pretty badly because my heart and mind still in indie hacker world. Only difference was I did get a hard no :) So congrats on getting something less firm ha. But yeah, let's build portfolio of smaller stuff and get awesome lifestyle, seems like it has much higher odds of moderate success anyway

You’ve been talking for over 6 minutes and in the end you still haven’t explained how was the interview with YC !!! What a waste of time that was 😒

It would be interesting to explain what you did to get this interview, what do you think you had that made them think « This guy is yc material »

I love it - great introspection. I've been thinking about how to do a Berkshire like Warren Buffet, but with small Saas to start. Is there a product to build for conglomerates or other holding companies, or do you find ways to optimize a vertical stack for you saas holding company? -ExFaang guy.

Hey! I’m currently in the YC Co-founder matching program and it’s not going well. If you’re open to joining forces and becoming my technical co-founder, let’s chat! I’m sure you heard it all, but this is probably that big idea they’re looking for. Cheers! Ps. I’d like to apply to YC on April 22nd, but solo founders supposedly won’t cut it.

Dude, I am sorry to say but you got a no. I am not saying the reflection is not 100% genuine and trying YC out seems to have taught you important things. But, there is a difference between almost a yes and a yes.

He accepts it as a no while illustating how he got over it. This was his thought process between “The said no! This sucks.” And “They said no, but who cares?’

@@ryansvideogamereviews7380Interesting. But he clearly learned something from it; not a who cares. This video is more about the learning and less about coping with rejection I feel, no?

@@VivaldiHeroes very good! I used “who cares” as a shorthand for it. That being said you are correct; this here is a great video for learning how to deal with rejection.

Maybe you want to do away with the label of "techbro", because it is derogatory, as recently discussed by YC founder Paul Graham. In any case, best of luck to you and your dreams. I am the same way!

should probably just get a job @ a big tech and make a lot of $$$
@DomGQ
@DomGQ 2 месяца назад
Just get a job at google or something bro. The tech space is cut throat...stop coping. You seem smart but youre no entrepreneur. A pure entrepreneur knows that their startup has less to do with them and more to do with the world. Startups are meant to make navigating everyday life easier. A consequence of that is if yiur Startup makes things easier for a lot of people then it becomes the next drop box or airbnb. We should stop treating startups like tea shops😢
