Myakka River State Park 2014 - We get up close and personal with huge killer alligators. The Kayak trip ended at what they call the deep hole where many alligators hangout. Some up to 13 feet long and weighing 700 pounds! Photos at ChooseSarasota.com
One of the oldest and largest state parks, Myakka protects one of the state´s most diverse natural areas. The Myakka River, designated as a Florida Wild and Scenic River, flows through 58 square miles of wetlands, prairies, hammocks, and pinelands. Visitors can enjoy wildlife viewing from a boardwalk that stretches out over the Upper Myakka Lake, then take to the treetops with a stroll along the canopy walkway. The park´s river and two lakes provide ample opportunities for boating, freshwater fishing, canoeing, and kayaking; a boat ramp provides access to Upper Myakka Lake. Hikers can explore trails that cross large expanses of rare Florida dry prairie. Scenic lake tours are offered daily on the world´s two largest airboats. Safari tram tours of the park´s backcountry are offered from mid-December through May. Full-facility campgrounds and primitive campsites are available. Five palm log cabins, built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, have been modernized for comfortable lodging. Located nine miles east of Sarasota on State Road 72.

Absolutely love your video by the way. We live in Philly and have my grandmom down there and we visit the park when we can. Its truly the best place in earth. Seeing an animal in the zoo is lame; seeing it in its natural habitat is AWESOME

Great video. Love the deep hole, but I take exception to your title "killer alligators". I am the author of 2 Florida kayak guide books and have kayaked hundreds of times with alligators, all over the state and have yet to encounter an aggressive gator unless it has been fed by humans and learned to associate humans with food. There are far too many kayakers who are missing some of the best paddles in the world because they are frightened of "killer" alligators. Great video..great music...lousy title.

@@rarto34677 I'm a native Floridian, Rich. I've swam in the same waters as big alligators and have lived to tell the tale. The title does create unneccesary fear mongering. Alligators do not like people and will avoid them, if possible.

I'd rather be among the "too many kayakers who are missing some of the best paddles in the world because they are frightened of killer gators" than to be gone "missing" because of falling prey to a gator who was fed by humans.

The only thing "killer" is humans who do nothing but destroy. Alligators Arent what people thanks...and I too live in Florida. So Im like the original commenter. Love the video. Hate the title.

Killer Gators ?????? You have to be joking. I have been around Gators for all my life ( 72 years ) and they do there best to avoid a person. I leave them along and they leave me alone if they don't just vanish from sight. You want to be in the middle of giant gators then paddle;e the Okefenokee Swamp , there are some big boys in there and they even avoid you. I can't swear to it but it sure appeared that some were longer then my 16 foot canoe. You do have some nice video of docile , sun bathing and relaxing Gators.

Lol! It's not like that at all. I just got back from visiting there with my children, just don't go at dawn nor dusk, don't feed them, don't take pets with you nor small children and you're good. And go when the water level is low like during this time and you can see the shape of the deep hole, otherwise you won't distinguish it. And the birdwalk is a beautiful place to see sunrises & sunsets, also recommend it while water levels are low, heard that during rainy season the water even goes over the walkway.😯

Does anyone know the history of Moses?, a 14 foot gator that they killed because it wasn't afraid of humans anymore and approached them in a menacing manner? I was 6 yrs old when this happened, I am 48 now, but I'll never forget Moses, a huge, hulking, majestic creaturE!!!!!!
