@@ShawnCarey01 We need to protect as much as we can. Thank you for doing these videos so people can see how truly wonderful and unique the environment is here.
I passed by this area on my biking and birding tour but I never actually visited the park. It's now on my places to go list. Very informative video. I'm looking forward for watching more of your videos, subbed. Thanks 😊
Thanks for watching my video and I'm sure you will enjoy spending time at Myakka RSP. Also check out my video Birds of Myakka River State Park, Season 1 Episode 2.
@@ShawnCarey01 Usually when I hike I go early in the morning, but I saw that the park doesn't open until 8am, so I may wait until Fall or winter months.
Have you been there yet? I’m from England where the most dangerous animals we have are politicians! I know Myakka is well worth a long visit but you must keep your wits about you and use common sense near water or it may be the last tick on your bucket list! The gators are huge but the squirrels have got a real attitude problem too if you venture to the public areas…… and yes, fire ants, omg they hurt, the angry little bastards! That said, I would go back tomorrow and hire a tandem to cruise the roads through the park in virtual silence and view the wildlife again….I love it there. 👍
This was a FANTASTIC overview of the park. It made me want to be there. Nicely Done! Interested in knowing what gear you brought and or decided to leave behind because of being on foot. You mentioned you kayaked at one point on a previous venture. No issues with alligators bothering you?😳
For this video I had my Canon 1Dx III + Canon 100-400mm lens. To record myself I was using a GoPro 8 with a Rode Wireless Go microphone. As for the alligators they really are not a concern at Myakka RSP. If you get to close they simply move away from you, they really do not want anything to do with humans. Same goes for when I kayak at the park. That said I would think when females have laid their eggs you would want to avoid nesting areas.
