Koe Htat Gyi Pagoda is located in Sanchaung Township in Yangon. The giant sitting Buddha image measuring 72 meters in height was built in 1905, during the British colonial era in Myanmar. The temple has undergone several renovations and restorations over the years, with the most recent one completed in 2014. The statue is built in a traditional Burmese style, with a serene expression on its face and intricate carvings on its feet.
Visitors to Koe Htat Gyi Pagoda can also see a collection of smaller Buddha statues located inside the temple. These statues represent different periods in the Buddha's life, and each one is adorned with unique decorations and designs. There's also a frog and a snake on each side of the entrance to the prayer hall. There was a legend saying the giant frog ate the snake showing victory. As a symbol, theses two statues are kept.
The temple is a popular destination for both tourists and locals alike, and is particularly busy during local festivals.
