The Mybo Origin is a 35" axle to axle target bow built in the UK. It comes in two cam versions 27 to 31 and 24 to 27". www.archeryshop.com.au/p/9521...
Would love to see a more in depth review, there’s not much online about any of their compounds. The company’s own run through videos show just how well thought out and designed they are, every detail has been looked at and considered. I get the feeling they are far more interested in doing the right thing by their users than following the latest fads of the market.
This Origin model is still a current model that has been around since 2015. Nothing comes close for this money. Superb bow. A breeze to adjust and tune. This model was Merlin/Mybo's return to manufacture after a long time. Since then they have launched 2 models; the Edge & recently the new Revolution.
Stephen "please" do an review/comparison to the Mybo Revolution by Merlin Archery. It looks similar to PSE's Citation but has TONs of inavative feature's.
@@capricornmagic63 since when? If you buy a Mybo bow they’ll pretty much upgrade anything and all you’ll need to do is pay for the parts. I’ve just had my limbs upgraded to a heavier set on an Origin and they fitted them for free, I just paid £210 for a new set
Hi Steven, we have a few good bowmakers in England, Stylist by Steve Hallard, KG Archery, and of course MYBO! That's not to mention the longbow makers!
The Origin was released as their flagship in 2016 or 2017 I think and the more expensive Edge arrived in 2018, with the revolution in 2021. The origin is therefore a fairly high end bow that has become cheaper as newer products were added to the line. This is a very good approach by Mybo. It means quality engineering is affordable. Their gear is top quality and I suggest you review their Certo X2 stabiliser too. It’s cheaper than the US alternatives and I haven’t found anything that does the job any better than their original Certo, and I own Conquest, shrewd etc. It’s just excellent stuff they produce.
Would you shoot a bit of a grouping at 18m and talk a little more about how it is to do an initial tune? I always like when I can see your grouping as I feel this gives me a good idea of what a good shooter can do with the bow.
The difference between Mybo and the chinese companies is I know that Mybo would stand behind their product if you had any kind of issue, needed a spare part or a change of limbs for poundage. They have a website in English with a telephone number, business address and email. So anything you might want to ask, you could get an answer one way or another. Not like some of the far east companies who may well be making stuff on contract for the big US brands but they aint providing the warranty and support for those or their own products.
Hi Steve I have been a fan of yours for almost to years. Your reviews are straight forward, biased and customer oriented. I came across MYBO some time ago. I saw a video cutting the riser out of a block of aluminium. I have been shooting a PSE Stinger and am considering the Expedite NXT. I don't think Mybo fits my budget. I haven't found a seller in Canada.
The strings don't just look great, they are great. They use Flex Archery strings on their bows. I have a Flex Archery Carrera v99 44 string+cable set on my Xpression 2017, and it's performing very well.
Mybo is a lesser known, but a really good bow manufacturer. Their new revolution is appearantly amazing. The origin is their entry level compound, and their Revolution replaced the Edge as their top end bow. I personally have the Wave X recurve riser, which is affordable, but IMO much better quality than the Kinetics and stuff. They're very open about design decisions, and they offer loads of colors and adjustability on their bows. The revolution actually has adjustable letoff built into one module.
Merlin changed name to mybo, so its a merlin. A really nice bows. You should se their other bows: the edge, and the newest "revolution" bow. Really nice quality bows.
Hi Steven, you've shot and seen a LOT of bows and I think you know your stuff. In the UK the Mybo Origin, and the PSE Lazer (which I think are my top two choices at the moment) sell for a similar price. Do you have any opinions about one versus the other as a "entry level" target bow? The PSE is longer, and seems to have more adjustment (more weight adjustment range for example). The Mybo on the other hand, just looks higher quality, as you said, they aren't cost cutting, even though the Origin is sold at a very reasonable price. Would you go for one over the other?
hi jon ,did you get your replacement limbs for your prodigy ? ,or made your choice between the lazer or origin , i went for the lazer in titanium ,40 lb , the archery shop black fri deal 501 £ delivered ,no waiting ,great service from them , dont think i can deal with merlins custormer service/attitude ,the lazer is everything steven says it is ,no regrets on buying it ,i will do a review on it soon ,atb vince
@@vincentdolan3425 Hi Vince, yes I actually got replacement limbs (all 4, not just the broken one) from Sanlida in China, they replaced them FOC after I showed them the problem. I was pleasantly surprised! So still using the Prodigy for the moment. It saved me a £500+ outlay anyway. Will be interested to see how you get on with the Lazer. I must have been lucky as I've always found Merlin fairly good really.
That bow is a good few years old now. Take delivery of some of the new mybo Revolution 37” and 40” bows. See what you think of those. Worlds apart from the origin.
like your reviews ,are you going to do a full one on this bow ,,i am looking at this mybo 30/40 lb or the pse lazer ,at 30/40 lb for indoor shooting ,as similar priced bows ,also a bit of though on the sanlinda hero x 10 ,same 30/40 lb ,you gave this a good review ,so do others , but nothing on the origin other than merlins own self reviews ,been out 7 odd years no reviews ,strange ?,, thoughts from all, welcome,, thanks
One thing I would caution about Sanlida etc. is although they offer a lot for the money, and I don't doubt the Hero X10 is a fantastic bow, if something goes wrong and you need to buy spare parts then they can be difficult to source. I know this from experience, unfortunately. As Mybo is made in the UK I would feel entirely confident that as long as Merlin are still going, they'd be able to replace anything on it that may go wrong during the "reasonable" lifetime of the bow. PSE I'm sure, like all the other big brands, will also stand behind their product. While getting a Chinese bow can get you something far higher spec'd for your money than you'd get from one of the US/UK companies, their weakness is lack of after sale support. For indoor use, even a cheap, theoretically "low spec" bow can be used to great effect in the hands of a good archer. I'd think getting one that feels good and that you can enjoy shooting would be the best way to go.
@@jonedwards7019 hi jon ,thanks for your reply ,yes fully agree with you on that spairs thing ,merlin has them for 500 ish ,75/100 £ more you get pse or mybo ,,i think it will be the mybo in silver 40 lb,,as the old body aches a bit now , mybo 2/4 weeks wait ,pse up to 12 weeks wait... a few years a go i got [ and still have] the sanlinda prodigy 50 lb from merlin on a black fri offer about 275 £ ,that sort of price well you give it a try ,its is a very accurat ,smoothe quiet bow , i have it set for my 150 yard target i cant fault it , so i would expect the hero to be the same , i have not needed any spares yet ,if you drop it you do a cam or broken knock dryfire ,ect , i think you just have to bin it bin it ,,good luck with your choice between the pse and mybo ,if you get one soon do a review just waiting for november to come around and call merlin ,thanks again vince
@@oldsteamer4251 Hi Vince, it's funny you mention the Prodigy - that's the bow I have (a Kinetic branded version of it) and unfortunately one of the limbs is starting to splinter now. Never dry fired by me, it just seems to have happened, maybe at some point it's had a knock or something. I've been trying to get a replacement limb ordered but the UK dealers I've contacted have so far drawn a blank on getting parts. It was a nice bow to shoot while it lasted. I guess I could try Sanlida directly although I'm not holding my breath they would be too helpful. I actually got it stupidly cheap three years ago, so I guess I've had fair value out of it. On the other hand if I'm spending £600+ on a bow, I'd want it to last for many years. The Origin looks superb in the silver, and honestly, that's one of the things that's drawing me to it over the PSE 👍
@@jonedwards7019 hi jon ,have you try saa archery in belgium ,i think they are the main dealers in europ and uk dealers get the bows from them ,they may have a bit more luck getting spares ,all the best vince
