3;36 WE PAUSE THE VIDEO AND WORSHIP THE PERFECT MOTOR!!!! Yes I have several with 49 years super service on a Myford and a home made mill. Brooks motor on the home made Lathe. Clutches do help save them. David and Lily.

Thanks for sharing! I know it's to late but for in the future, any time you open a motor case for any reason you should plan to clean the windings with contact cleaner. It's avaible at your local electric supplier.

Ayup Keith, excellent video. I'd suggest not using silver steel to make your woodruff key. They key is meant to be a point of failure in the event of a crash. You should consider using the softest mild you have.

Hi Keith, I believe that the motor came from a sewing machine, my mom she used to have an industrial version “Necchi” sewing machine with clutch, and the motor looks very similar.

some people leave the backlash loose, and were trained to mind where leadscrew engages and note the dial setting, then do math to accomplish the same thing I know this because that is how I was trained, I didn't know you could greatly reduce the backlash in the method you show

Keith, I see you are using a metal file in an unusual way? I was always taught to lift the file on the backstroke to stop wearing out the backs of the teeth?

I don't exaggerate the lift, but yes I lighten the load on the backstroke }:-)))
