Oh the memories!! Never forget my very fist holiday abroad, around 35 years ago, was here. The first experience flying, as the plane took off, that feeling of speed, the flight, then coming into land at Mykonos.. I was so nervous as the plane began its descent.. as we got nearer the ground, all I could see was this huge area of dry, brown land and remember thinking "oh my God, what have I let myself in for here!?"... We got taken to our apartment, about a mile from Mykonos Town and crashed out for the night. Next day we got a bus to the beach and soaked up the sun all day. My friend, who was a regular sun worshipper, told me not to go too mad first day, as I would burn, but I knew better.. laid in the sun, with factor 4 suncream, for about 6 hours. My friend told me I was burning, but my skin felt 'normal' so ignored him.. we went back to the apartment, showered and when I came out and looked in the mirror, I was like a lobster! So red, and now very hot to touch. We were going out to meet the holiday rep that night, so I put a lightweight shirt on and ventured out.. All during the rep meeting, I was shivering, with a bad headache, and was told I had sunstroke!! For the next week, I couldn't go into the sun, as my skin was burning if I tried, so I stayed in while my pal went to the beach every day. I still ventured out at nights, when it was cool. We found this amazing little restaurant as you come off the main road into Mykonos. We ate the ripest beefsteak tomatoes, chips and t bone steak every night for a week.. We found the Irish Bar, run by Stavros (surprisingly). The bar would get packed. He had a funnel, and if you bought him a drink, would place the spout of the funnel in his mouth, hit the optic measurer, and the drink would go direct to his mouth via the funnel!! They would play great music, and people would dance in the bar.. At the time, a song called Irish Rover, by the Pogues/Dubliners was huge, and being the Irish Bar, loads would dance on the bar to that one!! Cut a long story short(ish), I had the most amazing time. It seemed like a different world there , with what looked like the rich and famous , walking every here. The place felt "classy", the sort of place millionaires would go to.. The whitewashed streets amazed me, and many times we got lost, but can always find your way around. My friend was a very quick drinker, and would race the "greek slammer champion" for the cost of a round.. My friend won almost every time, and half the bar challenged him and lost, so on one night, he got very drunk. On the way back, we stopped off and bought some of the best fried chicken I've ever had.. As we went to sit on a wall to eat it, my friend did a Humpty Dumpty, fell off the wall, and his box of chicken went flying in the air, and all over him... He cut his head open, but was more worried about losing the chicken than his bloody head!! The rest of the holiday was fantastic, absolutely loved it.. without a doubt, it was the best all round holiday experience of my life.. I was given a name change by some people after that (from Mick to Mickonos).. sadly my buddy has passed away but the memories are forever..
Mykonos is one of the most popular islands to visit in Greece. This island is famous for shopping, beach parties, and the very photogenic Mykonos town.
Honestly, nothing. There are no real sights, the island is barren and dry. No vegetation, only the town itself is very pretty. It‘s good for people who like shopping and partying though

15 minutes into the video and all I saw were mostly overweight or middle aged women lol That's bad for healthcare! Or maybe they're tourists from the Texas lol
