Just curious; how long should it take for them to tighten/harden? It has been 3 days since I prepared my first round using Mylar and oxygen absorbers and my bags still look puffy with air in them.

Please don't be troubled. The jab is not the mark. I am not anti-vacs my problem is the one sided narrative. We should all be informed and be allowed to make our own decisions. Why would you be disappointed, you went through with that for the love of your husband, which is admirable. Your humility in wanting to please the Lord shows your love for Him also. I too took the jab, even as an experimental trial, because I wanted to help others beat this thing. I am healthy and fit so I was a good candidate. I don’t see that it can be “the mark” because that doesn’t line up with the timetable of revelation. I too have been bothered by other Christians who are angry that I am not following their ideas. I have been praying about it but this morning I woke up with Isaiah 8 :12 on my brain. I didn’t know the verse so I looked it up. I hope you will too. God loves you, Wanda. Only fear God, not man. Its good to want to help others, but sometimes you just cant. What good does it do if you help another family out to help them survive a little bit longer, but makes your family survive a lot less. I'm not a religious person by any means, but I'm not ignoring that inner voice that is screaming and yelling at me to prepare. I dont know what that voice is, or why its telling me to prepare ... but I'm sure as hell not going to ignore it. I've told all my family and friends to prepare. And all I have been met with is ridicule and mocking. So while I would feel very bad for not helping them, at the same time they completely ignore my advice to do it themselves. So they chose not to prepare. They chose not to listen. They cant turn around and say no one ever told them and that no one warned them. If other people arent preparing right now, after what has happened to the world in the last year to two years, then they are either blind and deaf or they are willingly choosing to ignore the collapse of the world around them. And if thats the case, then you cant help those people. They dont want to survive. And perhaps, they simply arent meant to survive.

@@Doofus171 You ate right. When everything started I knew we had tp for about 3 months. That was my stash for my family. I found some a couple mornings with a limit of 2. So ended up with 4 24packages. I knew I would have people calling me. Sure enough a couple weeks in my MIL calls they have no tp and can't find it anywhere. She refuses to stock up on anything. They were the reason I bought thee extra Tp. I knew she would be calling me. Since then she has done nothing to prepare. She mentioned to my daughter if something happened she would come to my house. My girls flat out told her that their mom was not preparing for them and would not have extra. Made me smile. My SIL said the same thing about coming here. I told my girls if we had 3 months of food and these other people came we would have only 1 month of food.

The oxygen absorbers will not remove all the air in the bag, air is only 21% oxygen and 70% nitrogen so it will not go completely flat. The nitrogen will still be in the bag but it is inert and shouldn't affect food quality, some food manufactures use nitrogen in their packaging to extend shelf life.

I don't believe you will be able to store anything in those but coffee. It has such a strong odor. Washing them could help a little but it will also cause them to break down sooner.

The Food Saver heat strip is engineered for their bags, it will not be hot enough especially for the thicker mylar bags. Thanks for the question.

If I was listing it by Good, Better, and Best, vacuum sealed in plastic with OA would be the Better, the Mylar would be the best. Reason being I have had vacuum seals and plastic bust. The mylar is really stout. Hope that helps.

The standard mylar will not work by itself in vacuum sealers. It has to have the ridges inside like the plastic bags do. Also the heat strip on most sealers doesn't get hot enough. Hope this helps, God bless

We have and we do. I am showing the dry goods in the videos because of their longevity and ease. Many do not have the equipment to consider canning meat but they can pick up a 5-gallon bucket at China-Mart for $3. Thanks for the questions. God Bless

You are doing everything right when using the Food Savers. And will extend the life of the food you are storing. You are getting the oxygen out of the original bags by cutting them, freezing them to kill off any pests, letting them rest so that there is no condensation, and even the bay leaf for pests. But in saying that the Foodsaver bags do not have the longevity and a higher Oxygen Transfer Rate so eventually oxygen will get in. I can't count the amount of times in my freezer I have found foodsaver bags that have lost their seals. The mylar with oxygen absorbers solves this problem. It is basically an aluminum can. It lets no light nor oxygen in. With the oxygen absorbers the mylar becomes vacuum packed thus killing off any pests and is good for 30+ years. This is the reason that all long term food companies use it for their pouches, IE Mountain House, Augason Farms. Even the MRE's that we used in the Army were made of mylar. I hope this helps.

The Prepping Preacher yes, it helps as I have a better understanding and it makes sense. I guess I will get Mylar bags and the oxygen absorbers to use from here going forward. Not a stupid question at all. I wish I would have asked 30 years ago, then I wouldn't have had 40 lb. bricks of salt and sugar in 5 gallon buckets. No, do not put oxygen absorbers in with your sugar or salt. God Bless

Right now in our area the land prices are nuts! A piece of ground that is straight up and down is going for $5000 or more an acre. This is scrub ground, couldn't grow watermelons on it because they would roll off. But they are selling faster than they can put the signs on it.

Hot garages will rapidly diminish the nutritional aspect of the food. Closets, under the beds, cabinets, basements, etc. are better choices.

No. Extreme heat will be detrimental to the longevity of the food. In the buckets, light is now not a major concern but we have to try and keep it around 75 degrees or less. We changed out our bed frames in the house to higher ones so we could store the buckets underneath. With a queen bed we are able to get 12 stored. Thanks for the question. God Bless

Good question. There are some mylar vacuum bags available now, but I have not tried them. They must be pretty thin for the foodsaver to seal them. It is designed to seal the plastic bags, so less heat. As far as oxygen absorbers with vacuum sealing, it would be a waste, both do the same thing. If the seal breaks, neither will work. I agree with you about the 5 gallon habit. When we first started back in the '80s we put it all in 5's everyone was doing it mentality. (Always dangerous) As I was looking at 4lb bags of beans waiting for the rest to fill a bucket I had an epiphany. Use smaller bags, easier at the start easier in the end. Proof again that every so often a blind hog finds a nut. And please don't worry about that bucket, I increased his Abs exercises yesterday. Thank you for the comments and God Bless

Yes I saw it on FB Tennessee Stands. Most of it is addressing preparation for a new wave of the ChinaVirus but other parts are at the least disconcerting. IE Psychiatric professionals ( I use that label loosely) able to involuntarily commit someone with a telephone interview. SO, if the general consensus believes that someone who doesn't wear a mask or take the jab is crazy, does that mean they get locked up? But that's OK they have the provision to build temporary camps. Can anyone say gulag? And then we have the provision to use the NG and the State Guard for relieve of health care personnel and "other" duties during this emergency. But, nothing to worry about here, right?
