This song is a masterpiece!! Mark Tremonti also did a "transformation" song the same year: Marching in Time, dedicated to his daughter. Beautiful and a masterpiece too. Greetings from Chile!
Myles Kennedy is a fantastic and versatile vocalist! I like this unconventional song alot. Sounds like a really great James Bond movie song! (Edit: don’t forget his exceptional guitar playing as heard here and in AlterBridge!)
That opening (and ending) guitar picking riff really reminds me of Sting’s Shape of My Heart riff. This is a great song and Myles Kennedy is amazing once again. I’d recommend you listen to the live version of Disturbed’s Sound of Silence cover performed with Myles Kennedy. It’s a stunning performance.
Wonderful reaction, Rachel. Myles' voice is fantastic, no matter where in his range he's singing. If you like journey songs, Myles' earlier album "Year of the Tiger" is a journey album. It's a very personal one for Myles, about dealing with the death of his father when Myles was quite young. It was a cathartic album for him to create. A lot more acoustic guitar than on the album than "Ides" was from. "Year of the Tiger" is the first track, and sets the scene for the rest of the album. A beautiful piece of work.
I really like his voice, he has a 4 octave vocal range! I like when Myles, Haley Reinhart, and Slash covered Rolling Stone's "Wild Horses. They did a great job of it.
This song is such an amazing song for any music reaction, was awesome to see you enjoy it so much on Twitch ❤❤ I've known Myles since 2004. I was a huge Creed fan, and was quite annoyed when they broke up in 2003. Then all of them except Scott Stapp formed Alter Bridge with Myles, and I quickly realized it was the best decision they could've made. Been loving the band ever since, saw them live 5-6 times (and Myles and Mark even more with their other projects), and it's always a blast. They're some of the most humble artists I've seen, and also some of the most talented. This song is from Myles' second solo album, also called The Ides of March, and was released prior to the album's release. I remember being extremely impressed when I first listened to it, I had it on repeat for the good part of the evening. It's like a story that goes absolutely everywhere, and it really makes Myles' singing abilities shine. The soft, intimate whispers, the high notes he's amazing at and the mix between the different styles. I'm glad you liked it as much as I did a few years ago 🙂
This song has so much Bruce Dickinson to me. The songwriting, the intonation...Myles is even cleaner in the upper register. Great song, thanks for the reaction.
The Mayfield Four was the band that Myles Kennedy had before joining Alter Bridge around 2003... they released 2 albums - 'Fallout' (1998) and 'Second skin' (2001) Myles Kennedy has recorded 3 albums w/ Slash (Guns N' Roses' lead guitarist) - 'Apocalyptic love' (2012)... 'World on fire' (2014) and '4' (2022)
Oooh, if youre into "transformation song" you gotta listen to "Galax" by Letters From The Colony. A swedish band that released a phenomenal debut album on Nuclear Blast Records back in 2018. Make sure to look it up! Great reaction as usual!
You should react to Haley Reinhart, Myles Kennedy, and Slash performing Rolling Stone's song "Wild Horses" It was a celebration of Mohammed Ali's 70th birthday.
U said you were obsessed with the song Angelina and Brad danced to early in the Mr. And Mrs. Smith movie. That movie came out in 2005. I was 4 years old and was just obsessed with Angelina Jolie 😂
