Six years ago I had a bad fall on very hard packed ground with a tube a chap stick in my left pocket and nearly passed out from the pain. I did the ice and heat routine but the injury left a large lump on my outer quadricep. Now the lump is so pronounced, you can see it though my jeans. It has started to become painful so I have x rays and a mri scheduled next week. Hopefully this is myositis ossificans and not something else. I look forward to having surgery to remove it. Good information.

Thank you so much for your videos..they are a very very helpful resource.. In these conditions of reactive bone and cartilage formation..it is possible that hematopoietic marrow also may be formed reactively?

If not , alternatively is it possible that a spindle cell lipoma has a focus of myelipoma ..

Post-traumatjc Reactive change to the muscle is the aetiology of this lesion. This can be seen as Metaplasia of Bone or Neoplasia Of Benign Morphology. Ectopic Bone Synthesis however seems no different than Endometriosis and even so as Metastatic Teratoma, a very rare possibility. Cheerz, es geht gut hier!
