Please pray for my mother. 🙏She is 64 years old and just got an abnormal EMG while complaining of leg pain. Her family has a history of DM but she was tested negative years ago. She’s now taking another genetic test next week.
Blessed wholesome news: all is well! My mother was positive on the EMG for myotonia. However, she then took the genetic tests which showed that the gene expansion was 5 alleles, within a perfectly normal range. There were 2/230 gene sequences that were of uncertain significance which were different. We are all so glad with her clean bill of health, considering she has 3 brothers and some cousins with DM1. Has been desccribed by others as sounding like a chainsaw with varying speed, or an adolescent revving up a motorcycle, and not much like a true dive bomber which sounds more like a siren with variable pitch. Look up Stuka dive bomber sounds on you tube for what a true dive bomber really sounds like.
